Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 637: Chapter 195 Phase Space_4

”This is the basis of the phase ship we are developing.”

Chen Ming interjected, ”So is this technology also a legacy of that civilization?”

”Clearly not, otherwise the Mechanical Race, being another legacy of that civilization, wouldn’t lack methods to deal with things in phase space.”

”We first came into contact with the source of phase space thanks to an ordinary researcher.”

”While conducting some research in superspace, he discovered a special signal similar to a warp fluctuation.”

”Following this signal, he discovered some things that couldn’t be observed by normal means, and his findings were reported layer by layer.”

”Then the Empire began its research into phase space.”

Chen Ming suddenly asked, ”What did that researcher discover?”

”Unknown.”

”Unknown?”

”Yes, because by the time our phase technology had developed enough to investigate phase space, the object that allowed us to discover phase space had long since vanished. The nature of this object remains unanswered to this day.”

”Alright.”

Chen Ming pondered for a moment and asked, ”Who was the discoverer?”

”An ordinary researcher at Speed Particle Technology, who didn’t participate in the subsequent research, so there wasn’t any particular value to him.”

After waiting for a moment and seeing Chen Ming had no further questions, Bai Quan said, ”Finished with the questions? Then I’ll continue.”

”Our research over the years has shown that the interior of phase space is exactly the same as the normal universe, except that phase space can affect the normal universe, but the normal universe cannot affect phase space.”

”And we’ve never discovered anything existing solely within phase space.”

”So some research institutions have conceived the idea of treating phase space as a unique environment to create specialized ships.”

Bai Quan paused slightly to give Chen Ming time to digest and absorb the information before continuing, ”The current situation is different now, your discovery on that side basically confirms that something in phase space is affecting the normal universe environment.”

”And that thing’s method of action seems like some kind of creature, so it’s temporarily named a Phase Giant Beast, awaiting more precise investigation before giving it a scientific name.”

”Oh, by the way, based on the star field situation in the video you sent, we’ve confirmed your video location.”

”So... um... you know...”

”No problem.”

Chen Ming casually said, ”I jumped back to the Empire right in front of that Phase Giant Beast.”

”If you move fast enough, you wouldn’t even need to analyze the video, just go to where I jumped back and trace my jump trajectory to know where I came from.”

”Besides, I previously asked you to help cover up the jump traces, so you knowing doesn’t matter anymore.”

”So, how are you going to deal with this Phase Giant Beast?”

Bai Quan hesitated a little and said, ”No way to handle it.”

”Although we’re doing alright in phase technology research progress, the phase ship itself is still in the experimental stage, and the Phase Giant Beast is at least the size of a cruiser.”

”Trying to go to the Mechanical Race to deal with the Phase Giant Beast is simply a fantasy. At most, some ships will go over to investigate and try to gather data.”

Chen Ming asked a bit worriedly, ”What if it comes to the Empire? Is there no way to deal with it either?”

”Not quite.”

”While the research on phase ships isn’t yet at a level where they can be practically applied, phase weapons have been developed in many forms, and if worst comes to worst, we still have Psychics.”

”Besides, in the video, the Phase Giant Beast seemed to be physically attacking the Mechanical Race’s fleet, without any non-melee methods of attack.”

”If it weren’t residing in phase space, it would just be a normal Space Giant Beast.”

”Though we can’t say to completely let down our guard, it seems like that’s all it is for now.”

Chen Ming retorted, ”So you’re saying there’s really no need to worry, right?”

”Right.”

”Alright then.”

”If I encounter any more Phase Giant Beasts later on, I’ll let you know.”

After all, Chen Ming himself had no way to deal with this creature, and if the Empire could find a way to handle the Phase Giant Beast, it wouldn’t be bad for him.

Of course, if he didn’t encounter it, all the better. Ideally, the Phase Giant Beast would go and trouble the Mechanical Race instead of bothering him.

Ending the topic of the Phase Giant Beast, Chen Ming suddenly said, ”Let me ask you something, Bai Quan. Does the military accept any ship technology or something?”

”What do you mean? Have you thought it through?”

”No, no, no, it’s just that I’ve come up with a research direction that I think is quite unique and should have some value.”

Bai Quan blinked, knowing everything about Chen Ming since his birth until now, and aware of the general level of Chen Ming’s technical skills.

Although it seemed that Chen Ming’s technology had now surpassed many people, there was still a gap compared to top scientists.

Thus, he said tactfully, ”You can directly publish it on some official websites or journals.”

”The military has always been paying attention to research in various fields, and if there’s value for military purposes, they’ll contact the author directly.”

Chen Ming understood the meaning in Bai Quan’s words and found it unsurprising.

After all, who would have thought that someone who initially could only control ships would one day possess the absurd ability to conduct conceptual deep maintenance on various mechanical equipment and even organisms.

Bai Quan’s lack of complete belief in him was quite normal.

But Chen Ming believed that time would provide the answers.
