Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God

Chapter 331: Chapter 332: A Message from Home

In the hidden dimension beneath the Multiversal Center, the twelve true Paragons did not waste time.

The moment the unknown existence vanished, the silence in the circular hall lasted only long enough for the weight of what had happened to settle into every consciousness present. No one moved first out of confusion, because confusion was a luxury none of them could afford. What had just walked through their most secure chamber without triggering a single defense had not been a message, a projection, or a trick. It had been a true presence, calm and absolute, and it had spoken to them as though their authority was nothing more than a convenience it could choose to ignore.

The star-chart Paragon issued the first order.

Her voice carried no tremor, but the speed with which she acted revealed more than her tone ever could. Coordinates were locked. Quotas that had remained unchanged for trillions of years were rewritten in the span of a single thought. Emergency directives were sent downward through layers of authority that normally required cycles of review, approval, and implementation. The Unique System Company, which had been manufacturing reincarnation systems since before most factions had names, received a command so abrupt and so absolute that its governing intelligences paused for a full moment before beginning production. The Truck Reincarnation Academy, usually reserved for slower, more traditional deployment cycles, was placed on accelerated activation.

Within a single operational cycle, the machine that had managed reincarnation for trillions of years turned its full attention toward two previously unremarkable universes in the same remote sector.

The orders were precise. The demand was simple. The two universes were to receive reincarnators in waves, not as a slow trickle meant to maintain balance, but as a concentrated influx designed to create immediate chaos, opportunity, and evolutionary pressure. The Paragons did not discuss fairness. They did not debate long-term balance. They did not consider whether the sudden introduction of thousands of foreign souls might destabilize regions that had been stable for eons. They simply fulfilled the demand that had been placed upon them, driven by a quiet, shared fear of what that calm, unreadable being might do if the request was ignored or delayed.

None of them understood the connection.

In the circular hall, between adjustments and status reports, the same question surfaced more than once, spoken in different voices but carrying the same underlying unease.

”What relationship do those two universes have with him?”

No one had an answer. The coordinates were ordinary. The Guardian Wills assigned to them were competent but not exceptional. There was no recorded history of a Transcendent, an ancient existence, or anything similar originating from that sector. The universes themselves had never produced anomalies significant enough to reach the attention of the Multiversal Center. Their local laws were stable, their origins were healthy, and their development had followed patterns so unremarkable that most archivists would have ignored them entirely. Yet the being who had walked into their most secure chamber without detection had named those two universes specifically and expected compliance.

One of the Paragons attempted to trace the connection through causal lines, but the attempt returned nothing. Another examined the historical records of the sector, searching for a hidden figure, a forgotten inheritance, or a suppressed event that might explain the demand. The records showed only normal births, normal deaths, normal conflicts, and normal growth. If there was a reason those two universes mattered, it had not been written into anything the Center possessed.

They sent the reincarnators anyway.

The Unique System Company began producing systems at an unprecedented rate. Some were standard support structures designed to guide new souls through unfamiliar laws. Others were rare hybrid frameworks built to interact with multiple principle types at once. A few were experimental, carrying volatile potential that would either elevate their hosts quickly or consume them just as fast. The Truck Reincarnation Academy, meanwhile, activated its older pathways, selecting souls from countless worlds and preparing them for abrupt displacement. Some would die in accidents. Some would be struck by vehicles in ways that had become almost ritualistic across lower realms. Some would simply wake in new bodies under unfamiliar skies with memories of another life still burning in their minds.

The machine did not care why it was moving. It only cared that the command had come from above.

Reincarnators began descending in waves.

Thousands upon thousands of carefully selected souls — some carrying fresh systems, some carrying rare hybrid potentials, some carrying nothing but volatile talent — were dropped into Willith’s Universe and William’s Universe with deliberate density. The first wave arrived quietly, scattered across remote regions where local powers would not notice them immediately. The second wave was larger. The third wave was larger still. Within a short period, both universes were receiving more reincarnators than they had received in entire eras.

The Paragons watched the deployment reports with cold attention, but none of them felt satisfaction. They were not solving a problem. They were obeying a command. And for beings who had stood at the peak of the Multiverse for longer than most civilizations had existed, obedience was a sensation they had almost forgotten.

---

Willith felt it first.

As the Guardian Will of her universe, she existed as a vast, living network of laws and origin force. Her awareness was not concentrated in a single body or a single point. It was spread across the entire structure of her universe, touching every law, every flow of energy, every birth, every death, and every shift in destiny. She did not observe the world the way mortal beings did. She experienced it as a continuous symphony of cause and effect, with every living soul contributing its own note to the whole.

The sudden influx registered across her entire awareness like a controlled storm.

New souls that was never registered or known began to pour into dozens of regions at once. Some arrived through clean, system-guided reincarnation, their presences appearing in her universe with structured frameworks already attached to their consciousness. Others slammed into existence the traditional way — trucks, accidents, sudden deaths in other worlds followed by abrupt rebirths under unfamiliar skies. Each arrival sent a ripple through the local laws. Each ripple interacted with existing destinies. Each interaction created new possibilities that had not existed moments before.

William felt the same surge in his own universe a moment later.

His awareness, broader and slower than Willith’s but no less precise, expanded outward as the first wave struck. He felt foreign principles enter his domain like seeds carried by a wind that did not belong to his sky. He felt systems activate. He felt confused souls wake in new bodies. He felt local laws bend slightly under the pressure of concepts they had never been designed to accommodate.

For a long time both Guardian Wills simply observed, measuring scale, distribution, and potential impact. They did not panic, because panic was not something a Guardian Will could afford. They tracked every arrival, assessed every region, and calculated how much chaos their universes could absorb before stability began to collapse. The numbers were high, but the influx was higher. If this had been a random event, it would have required immediate intervention. If it had been an attack, it would have required defense.

But it was neither.

The recognition settled slowly, then completely.

This was the promise.

Willith’s voice, when she finally spoke across the thin link that connected neighboring Guardian Wills, carried quiet disbelief mixed with genuine warmth.

”He remembered.”

William’s reply was slower, heavier, carrying the weight of someone who had spent a very long time trying not to hope for something he believed was impossible.

”I did not expect him to. Beings who stand where he stands... they forget smaller things. A promise made to two ordinary wills should have become insignificant.”

Willith was silent for a while as she tracked another wave of arrivals. New hybrid sparks were already forming where the reincarnators’ foreign principles collided with local laws. Fresh patterns of energy, previously impossible combinations of will and matter, began feeding into her universe’s origin. Some of those patterns were unstable. Some were dangerous. But even the dangerous ones carried potential, and potential was exactly what she and William had asked for.

”We did not contribute much,” Willith said eventually, her awareness moving carefully through a region where three new souls had just awakened in close proximity to one another. ”The resources we provided... the early shelter, the materials, the quiet corner of the sector where he could grow without immediate interference. At best we moved his schedule forward by a few decades. Without us he would still have reached the same height. We only made the road slightly shorter.”

William agreed, though his tone carried the quiet respect of someone who understood the value of small kindnesses when they were offered at the right time.

”He would have arrived at the same place regardless. We accelerated nothing essential. And still he kept the word he gave us.”

Neither of them voiced the deeper thought that followed: that a being who could treat a Multiversal Center full of Paragons as a minor errand still chose to honor something as small as their request. The fact itself was enough. It changed the way they understood the being they had once helped, because it proved that his rise had not erased the part of him that remembered. Power had not made him indifferent. Ascension had not made him forget.

Chaos arrived with the new souls.

In Willith’s Universe, established sects found their recruitment pipelines suddenly crowded with strangers who carried strange systems and stranger ambitions. Ancient clans discovered that the balance of power in their regions had tilted overnight. Some territories flared into conflict as local powers tried to contain newcomers who refused to be contained. Others experienced rapid, unstable growth as new techniques and hybrid methods spread faster than local authorities could understand them.

A sect that had controlled a mountain range for ten thousand years found three reincarnators emerging from its outer trials with principles that directly contradicted its foundational teachings. A merchant guild that had monopolized a rare spiritual resource discovered that a newly arrived soul could synthesize a substitute using a system no one had ever seen before. A royal court that had maintained order through bloodline inheritance suddenly faced a child who remembered another world and spoke of laws that made the court’s scholars fall silent.

William’s Universe experienced the same turbulence. Trade routes shifted. Old monopolies on certain resources cracked. A handful of particularly dangerous reincarnators — those whose systems encouraged conquest or rapid consumption of laws — began carving out early domains. Some of them were intelligent enough to hide their growth. Others were not, and their recklessness forced local powers to respond. Regions that had been peaceful for centuries began to tremble with the first signs of a new era.

Yet opportunity rose alongside the disorder.

New power systems emerged in real time. Unique localized principles crystallized where foreign understanding met native law. Some of those principles sank into the deeper layers of both universes and strengthened their origins directly. Willith felt her foundational structure grow denser, more flexible, and more capable of supporting higher-level existences in the future. William felt the same quiet elevation occurring across his own domain, as though his universe had been given new material to build with after spending too long working with the same limited resources.

This was what they had needed.

Controlled chaos. Accelerated evolution. A fresh generation of novelty that their universes could digest and turn into long-term strength. The process would not be easy. Some regions would suffer. Some lives would be broken by the sudden shift in destiny. Some powers would fall, and others would rise in ways that could not be predicted. But Guardian Wills did not seek comfort. They sought growth, stability, and the possibility of a future that was stronger than the past.

Then both Guardian Wills noticed the anomaly.

In one specific region of Willith’s Universe — the territory that contained Jake, Lirien, Caspian, Seraphina, Cassia, and the rest of the family Runar had left behind — the chaos simply failed to take root. Dangerous reincarnators who drifted too close found their paths gently redirected. Major conflicts that should have spilled into that area softened or turned aside at the last moment. Even the denser waves of new arrivals seemed to thin out before they could create true instability around the family.

The protection was almost invisible.

Willith examined it carefully, moving her awareness around the region without pressing too deeply, because she understood instinctively that whatever had been placed there was not meant to be touched by outside hands. The weave was clean, precise, and layered so thoroughly into the local laws that most beings would never detect it. It did not seal the region off. It did not create a barrier that would draw attention. It simply ensured that nothing capable of seriously threatening the people inside would ever gain a stable foothold.

A reincarnator carrying a conquest-type system wandered too close and suddenly received a new quest that led him in the opposite direction. A conflict between two rising factions shifted its battlefield by a few hundred miles because a minor resource vein unexpectedly appeared elsewhere. A powerful soul whose awakening should have caused regional tremors entered a delayed stabilization state the moment he crossed an invisible threshold. The changes were small, natural, and perfectly timed. Together, they formed an absolute defense that did not look like a defense at all.

William, observing through their shared link, recognized the signature at once.

”He did this as well,” William said, and his voice carried something close to awe, though he was old enough and vast enough to rarely feel it.

Willith’s awareness brushed the edge of the protection one more time. ”Effortless. He is still watching over them, even while he does whatever it is he is doing out there.”

Neither Guardian Will attempted to interfere with the weave. They understood the message it carried, even though no words had been written into it.

I kept my promise to you.

I am still protecting what is mine.

Willith and William turned their attention back to the wider influx. There was work to do — guiding the more volatile new arrivals, stabilizing regions that risked genuine collapse, and carefully harvesting the new principles so their universes could grow stronger without tearing themselves apart. The chaos would require management. The opportunity would require patience. The next era would be more turbulent than the last, but turbulence was not destruction. It was the sound of a universe learning to become more than it had been.

Across the thin link between them, a final quiet understanding passed.

He had not needed to remember them.

He had done it anyway.

In the protected corner of Willith’s Universe, Jake and Lirien walked through a peaceful garden under a clear sky, completely unaware of the thousands of new destinies unfolding beyond their borders. Flowers bloomed along the stone path, their petals shifting gently in a breeze that carried no tension. The air was warm, the light was soft, and the world around them felt exactly as calm as it looked.

Jake paused near a low wall and looked out over the horizon, though he did not know why. Something about the day felt unusually still, but not in a way that worried him. It felt like the kind of stillness that came after a storm had been quietly prevented.

Lirien noticed his pause and followed his gaze. ”What is it?”

Jake considered the question, then shook his head. ”Nothing. It’s quiet.”

Lirien smiled faintly. ”Good quiet.”

”Yes,” Jake agreed. ”Good quiet.”

Caspian and Seraphina discussed minor clan matters nearby, their voices carrying the easy rhythm of people who had long since learned to work together without conflict. Cassia tended to a quiet courtyard, her movements sharp but unhurried, and occasionally made a comment that made one of the others laugh. None of them felt the chaos that was reshaping the rest of the universe. None of them felt the absolute protection that kept that chaos away.

Somewhere far beyond the Multiverse, Runar continued his endless digestion, a tiny fraction of his attention still resting lightly on the home he had once left behind. The vast machinery of existence moved around him, but that small fraction remained steady, quiet, and unwavering.

The promise was kept.

The family remained safe.

And two Guardian Wills, newly supplied with the chaos and opportunity they had requested, set themselves to the long work of turning both into lasting strength for their universes.
