Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God

Chapter 323: Chapter 324: Fulfilling the Promise

The pocket dimension remained sealed and quiet.

Celestia sat cross-legged on the bed of cloud, the silver-violet storm lattice of her new inheritance already circulating through her meridians in slow, perfect cycles. Soft currents of controlled wind and violet lightning drifted around her body without ever touching the silk sheets. Nyla sprawled nearby on her stomach, chin propped on both hands, the gold-and-crimson curiosity engine flickering under her skin like a restless second heart. Every so often she would grin at something only she could feel and mutter a quiet challenge to the inheritance itself.

Runar watched them for a long moment.

Absolute Comprehension showed him the early branches of their paths forming with quiet clarity. Both inheritances had taken root cleanly. Both women were already beginning the real work. They would be fine here for a while.

He stood.

”I’m going to the Multiversal Center,” he said.

Celestia opened her eyes. Nyla lifted her head.

”William and Willith,” Celestia said. It was not a question.

”Yes.” Runar’s voice stayed calm. ”I made a promise. It’s time I kept it.”

Nyla rolled onto her side, still half-naked, still glowing faintly from residual essence. ”Want company?”

”Not for this.” He leaned down and kissed the top of Celestia’s head, then the corner of Nyla’s mouth. ”Stay here. Keep circulating. I’ll be back before the next major bottleneck hits either of you.”

Neither argued. They had already felt the weight of the inheritances he had given them. They understood the difference between vacation and the things that still needed finishing.

Runar stepped once.

The pocket dimension folded away behind him like a curtain being drawn.

He appeared in the void just outside the Multiversal Center.

Even standing outside the Multiverse itself, the scale of the place was still impressive—if only in the way a particularly large toy could be impressive to someone who had already outgrown the entire box it came in.

The Multiversal Center was a neutral hub the size of a small sectort of universes, suspended in a sealed dimensional membrane that no ordinary Multiversal cultivator could enter without invitation. Its architecture was a deliberate contradiction: gleaming towers of condensed law that rose higher than most universes were wide, floating districts connected by rivers of pure reincarnation karma, and entire universes dedicated to different aspects of the great cycle of death and rebirth that fed the Multiverse’s continuous evolution.

From the outside it looked like a perfect, luminous jewel.

With Absolute Comprehension, Runar saw the truth in a single glance.

The entire structure was a carefully maintained machine designed to harvest novelty.

He moved forward.

Space did not resist him. The protective formations that kept Paragons themselves polite simply parted around his presence like water around a stone that had decided it no longer needed to acknowledge the river. He walked through the outer membrane as if it were mist.

The main arrival plaza of the Multiversal Center stretched out before him—an endless white plain of polished conceptual stone crowded with cultivators, will-lifeforms, system avatars, and stranger entities that had long since stopped resembling anything human. Reincarnation karma drifted overhead in glowing rivers. Notification runes flickered in the air like public announcements.

Runar’s gaze swept across the major institutions with quiet interest.

To the east rose the Universal Will Academy—a vast, solemn complex of black-and-silver towers where guardian wills were trained, tested, and eventually assigned to newly born or damaged universes. William and Willith had once graduated from that place. Rows of young will-lifeforms in formal robes practiced maintaining the balance of entire cosmic structures while instructors floated above them, correcting posture and principle alignment with clinical precision. The academy’s motto, carved in letters the size of moons, read: A universe without a will is a corpse waiting to rot.

Further north stood the Truck Reincarnation Academy.

Runar paused for half a second and almost smiled.

It was exactly what it sounded like.

An entire floating campus dedicated to the art of the ”accidental” death that triggered optimal reincarnation. Hundreds of specialized trucks—some ordinary, some the size of mountains, some made of pure law and capable of shifting between dimensions—were parked in neat rows. Instructors in reflective vests shouted at trainee trucks about velocity angles, emotional impact, and the precise moment of impact that produced the cleanest soul detachment. One particularly enthusiastic instructor was currently demonstrating the classic ”out-of-nowhere-in-the-rain” technique while a class of younger trucks took notes with glowing headlights. A large banner over the main gate proclaimed: Smash with purpose. Reincarnate with excellence.

Runar filed the entire absurd institution away under ”things that only make sense when Paragons are bored and efficient.”

To the west floated the Unique System Company—a sleek, corporate-looking tower of shifting blue and gold light. This was where tailored systems were designed, tested, and leased to promising reincarnators. Inside, system architects argued over quest structures, reward curves, and the optimal ratio of suffering-to-growth. Floating displays showed currently popular templates: the classic ”level-up-by-killing” model, the more refined ”emotion-driven evolution” model, and a new experimental line called ”husband-conquest-to-power” that seemed to be performing surprisingly well in certain sectors. The company also managed the distribution of daily quests, hidden achievements, and emergency intervention packages across countless universes.

There were others.

The Karma Adjustment Bureau.

The Memory Cleanse Division.

The Parallel Timeline Overflow Containment Office.

The Department of Protagonist Overpopulation Control.

An entire administrative civilization built around the careful management of reincarnation as a resource.

The moment Runar fully entered the plaza, Absolute Comprehension unfolded something else.

Beneath every public layer of the Multiversal Center, buried under spatial locks, karma camouflage, and pure Paragon-level authority, existed a heavily concealed dimension. The seals were exquisite. To any ordinary Multiversal cultivator—or even most true Paragons—they would have been completely undetectable. To Runar they might as well have been painted in bright colors and labeled ”secret meeting room.”

He did not bother with subtlety.

One step.

The locks parted around him without resistance. Origin Weave brushed the final barriers aside like dust. No alarm triggered. No formation activated. The private dimension simply opened for him because nothing inside it had the authority to refuse.

He stepped through.

A circular hall unfolded around him.

Roughly a dozen true Paragons sat on high thrones arranged in a perfect ring. Each throne was carved from condensed law and personal principle, radiating quiet, absolute pressure that would have crushed ordinary Multiversal beings into paste. The Paragons themselves were varied—some humanoid, some abstract, some wearing forms that shifted between states of matter and pure concept. All of them were powerful. All of them were accustomed to being the highest authorities in the Multiverse’s reincarnation machine.

At the exact center of the hall floated trillions of screens.

They hung in layered spheres of light, each screen showing the live perspective of a reincarnator somewhere across the Multiverse. A young man in a medieval world just receiving his first system notification. A woman in a high-tech universe realizing the truck that hit her had not been an accident. A child in a cultivation world staring at a glowing interface only they could see. Countless lives. Countless carefully managed stories. All of them feeding novelty, hybrid power systems, and fresh principle combinations back into the greater Multiverse for the Paragons to observe, harvest, and occasionally claim.

The Paragons were deep in discussion.

One of them—a tall figure whose body seemed woven from living star charts—was speaking about adjusting reincarnator quotas in a particular sector. Another was arguing that certain universes had grown too stable and needed a fresh wave of chaos. A third was calmly reviewing the performance metrics of a new system template. None of them looked toward the center of the hall. None of them sensed the additional presence that now stood among them.

Runar remained where he was, silent and still.

Absolute Comprehension had already mapped every Paragon present, every screen, every layer of the concealed dimension. Origin Weave rested loosely around him like a second skin that none of their defenses could touch. To the dozen true Paragons seated on their thrones, the private hall remained exactly as it had been moments before—secure, hidden, and exclusively theirs.

Outside the concealed dimension, the public Multiversal Center continued its endless bureaucratic dance—trucks practicing optimal smash angles, system architects arguing over reward curves, young guardian wills learning how to keep universes from collapsing.

None of them knew that the quietest, most heavily guarded room in the entire Center now held an uninvited guest who had entered without a single one of its occupants noticing.

Runar waited, patient and unhurried.

He had a promise to keep.
