Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God

Chapter 317: Chapter 318: Debt Repaid

The reconstruction reached its end.

The hybrid vessel locked into its final form with a silent, absolute finality that made the surrounding personal space seem to hold its breath. Original runic circuits across the body flared once in perfect sequence, each one igniting in precise harmony with the next, and then settled into permanent structure. The runes were not carved onto the vessel’s surface, nor were they embedded into it like external reinforcements. They had become part of its fundamental definition, woven into the boundary between body, soul, and law. Every line carried meaning. Every meaning carried function. Every function supported the whole.

The soul core descended fully into the center of the new vessel and merged without the slightest resistance. There was no friction between the core and the body it had created, no rejection between the soul and the form it now inhabited. The golden-white light of the core spread outward through the runic circuits, filling every limb, every channel, every hidden structure of the vessel until the boundary between them disappeared. Absolute Comprehension and Origin Weave sank deeper still, becoming inseparable from the foundation of the body itself. They were no longer principles resting inside him. They had become part of the way he existed.

A pulse of dense golden-white light expanded outward.

It passed through the reinforced personal space without damaging it, yet everything it touched became briefly more legible. The laws of the domain clarified. The spatial fabric straightened. The residual energy rivers that had been flowing into Runar for weeks slowed, settled, and then vanished as though they had finally reached their destination.

Then Runar opened his eyes.

The glow within them flared brightly for a single breath before calming into a deep, steady radiance. He remained floating in silence, fully present for the first time in three weeks. Every part of his new body answered him with perfect clarity. There was no strain. There was no rejection. There was no lag between thought and response. The twin Supreme Principles rested within the vessel as though they had always belonged there, and the vessel itself felt less like a constructed body and more like a truth he had finally finished writing.

His awareness expanded without effort.

He sensed the reinforced personal space around him. He sensed the Reliquary sealed within it, vast and quiet, its layers still carrying the echo of the Rune Sovereign’s design. He sensed the clone’s residual presence nearby, though the true body before him was the one that mattered. He sensed the damage his absorption had caused, the cracks that had been sealed by Paragon authority, and the lingering strain in the spatial fabric. He sensed all of it at once, not as separate details, but as a single complete picture.

His gaze settled on the woman standing before him.

The moment their eyes met, Absolute Comprehension unfolded at full strength.

Everything about her was laid bare.

Her true name. Volasava.

The name surfaced in Runar’s awareness with the same clarity as if it had been spoken aloud by the woman herself. It was not a title, not an alias, and not a name she used in the present era. It was the name tied to the root of her existence, the one that had belonged to her before she became a Paragon, before she became a peak existence, and before she began searching for the path beyond the Multiverse.

Every memory she had accumulated across her long existence followed immediately after. Runar saw her first cultivation. He saw the world she had been born in, the faction that had raised her, the enemies she had destroyed, the mentors she had outgrown, and the countless years of solitary refinement that had carried her to the summit of existence. He saw the moment she had become a Paragon. He saw the moment she had first touched the bottleneck that prevented further ascent. He saw the frustration that had grown beneath her calm surface for eons.

Every technique she had ever mastered appeared in his understanding. Every principle she commanded. Every hidden thought, every carefully guarded secret, every ambition she had never spoken aloud. He saw the calculation she had made when the clone first reported the twin Supreme Principles. He saw the decision to break the Reliquary’s isolation. He saw her arrival, her seizure of the ruin, and her choice to eject every other participant. He saw the greed that had flashed through her mind when his soul core was exposed. He also saw the moment she had withdrawn that greed, the warning she had received, and the decision she had made afterward to continue protecting the space.

She was completely transparent before him — an open book with no remaining pages left to turn.

Meanwhile, Volasava had felt it the instant his gaze landed on her.

The sensation was unlike anything she had experienced in the entire span of her existence. It was not the pressure of a stronger aura or the weight of a superior principle. It was the clear, undeniable feeling of standing in the presence of a higher existence whose eyes left nothing concealed. All of her secrets felt exposed at once. There was nowhere to retreat, nothing left to hide behind, and no technique she could use to obscure even the smallest corner of her soul.

Her first instinct was to resist.

That instinct lasted less than a heartbeat. She understood almost immediately that resistance would not fail because it was weak; it would fail because resistance itself was also visible. If she tried to shield her thoughts, he would see the shield. If she tried to reshape her intentions, he would see the reshaping. If she tried to lie, the lie would be as obvious as a crack in glass.

So she stopped.

For the first time since she had stepped onto the path of cultivation, a true Paragon felt completely seen.

The feeling was profound. It was also deeply unsettling.

Runar did not speak immediately. He simply observed her in silence, Absolute Comprehension continuing to read every layer of her being without effort. The passive domain around him had strengthened the moment he became fully conscious. Laws within the personal space remained more readable and pliable than before, as though his awakened presence had turned the entire domain into a text he could edit if he chose. The subtle constraint on Volasava’s own principles lingered, quiet but persistent. It was not suppression, nor was it hostility. It was simply the natural result of standing near someone whose comprehension had surpassed the normal order.

After a long moment, Runar’s voice broke the silence. It was calm, even, and carried no hostility.

”You protected me.”

Volasava did not answer at once. She was still adjusting to the reality that nothing within her remained hidden from him. Even forming a reply felt strange, because she knew he would understand not only the words she chose, but the reasons behind them.

Runar continued without waiting for a reply.

”Despite the greed that appeared in your mind when my soul core was exposed, you still guarded this space and kept me hidden. If I had remained inside the Reliquary when the isolation barrier was broken, the outcome would have been different. The birth of the twin Supreme Principles would not have gone unnoticed. Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of Paragons would have descended. While I might have been able to defend against some of them, I could not have defended against all of them while still completing the final stages of enlightenment.”

He paused, golden-white eyes steady on her.

”You removed me from that danger. You hid me inside your personal space, beyond the reach of their senses. For that, I acknowledge a debt.”

Volasava remained silent, but something shifted behind her ancient eyes. The earlier shock of being completely perceived had not faded, yet his words forced her to confront the choice she had made. She had felt greed. She had considered taking the soul core for herself. And yet, in the end, she had continued to protect the space rather than act on that impulse. She had told herself that the decision was pragmatic, that interrupting the enlightenment would have been wasteful, and that preserving his value was more important than immediate gain. Now, under his gaze, she could not pretend those were the only reasons.

She had also chosen not to destroy what she could not fully control.

Runar’s tone remained even.

”I know what you want. A path beyond the Multiverse. A path to Transcendence.”

Volasava’s expression did not change, but her soul stirred. He had not guessed. He had not inferred from behavior or ambition. He had read the truth directly from the foundation of her being. There was no point in denying it, and no value in pretending otherwise.

Runar raised one hand slowly.

Around his fingers, light and structure began to gather. Origin Weave moved with effortless precision, drawing upon the vast understanding granted by Absolute Comprehension. Knowledge condensed into visible form — not raw information, but a refined, complete inheritance shaped by his own comprehension of laws, principles, and the road that led beyond the current ceiling of the Multiverse.

The process was quiet, but Volasava could feel every stage of it. First, Absolute Comprehension selected the relevant truths from everything Runar had mastered. It drew from the Rune Sovereign’s inheritance, the Ancient Will’s accumulated knowledge, the principles Runar had refined to Paragon-level depth, and the twin Supreme Principles themselves. Then Origin Weave took those truths and stitched them into a structure suitable for another soul. It adjusted for Volasava’s foundation. It accounted for her principles, her age, her bottlenecks, and the specific shape of her Paragonhood. It did not create a universal answer. It created an answer meant for her.

A sphere of pure, concentrated knowledge took shape above his palm.

Volasava’s eyes locked onto it. Even without touching it, she could sense the density and depth of what he had created. A rare, unguarded awe flickered across her features. The sphere was small, no larger than a mortal’s fist, but it carried more meaning than entire libraries of ancient scripture. It did not radiate power in the way a treasure or weapon would. It radiated direction. It radiated a path.

Runar regarded the sphere for a brief moment, then spoke again.

”This is my repayment.”

The sphere of knowledge hovered above his palm, dense and luminous. It was not a simple transfer of information. It was a complete, refined inheritance — the distillation of everything he had comprehended through Absolute Comprehension and shaped through Origin Weave. Pathways beyond the Multiverse, structures of law that reached toward the Omniverse, and methods of elevation that no existing Paragon inheritance contained were condensed within that single sphere. It also contained warnings, because Runar had seen enough of her foundation to know where she might fail if she walked blindly.

Volasava could not look away from it.

And Runar gave her no time to prepare.

He flicked his fingers.

The sphere shot forward and struck her forehead before she could raise even the slightest defense. There was no impact of force, only an immediate and irreversible assimilation. The knowledge poured directly into her soul core, unfolding layer by layer with perfect clarity. She felt it settling into the deepest parts of her existence, rewriting gaps in her understanding that she had not even known were there. Ancient assumptions collapsed. Bottlenecks that had seemed absolute revealed hidden seams. The ceiling of the Multiverse, which she had stared at for countless years, suddenly showed cracks that had never been visible before.

Her body trembled once.

She forced herself to remain standing.

Runar lowered his hand.

”I would say my debts have been repaid.”

The words were spoken without weight or lingering attachment. The moment they left his mouth, his figure blurred. Space folded around him with silent precision. The personal space, which had been reinforced by Volasava’s authority and sealed with Paragon-level law, did not resist him. It parted as though it recognized his right to leave. In the next instant, he was gone — completely absent from her personal space, leaving no residual aura or spatial trail that she could immediately follow.

Silence returned.

Volasava remained standing alone in the reinforced void, the vast Reliquary still sealed within her domain. The knowledge Runar had given her continued to expand inside her soul core, vast and structured beyond anything she had previously encountered. As more of it unfolded, a quiet shock settled over her.

This was not merely a high-level inheritance.

She had studied the residual legacies of ancient existences. She had examined fragments connected to the Rune Sovereign himself. None of them compared to the density, clarity, and forward-reaching nature of what now resided within her. For a moment she even doubted whether the original Rune Sovereign’s complete inheritance would have reached this level. That thought alone was enough to make her understand how far Runar had advanced during his enlightenment.

A rare feeling of satisfaction rose within her.

She had made the correct bet.

Yet beneath that satisfaction, another emotion stirred — regret.

If she had never allowed that flash of greed to appear when his soul core was exposed... if she had maintained a completely clean intention from the beginning... would his gratitude have been greater? Would he have stayed longer? Would he have guided her more directly, or even formed a genuine cooperative relationship rather than simply repaying a debt and leaving?

The questions had no answers.

What was done was done.

She had felt greed, and he had seen it completely. That single moment had set the boundary between them. He had still chosen to repay her protection with a path forward, but he had not chosen to remain. The distinction was clear, and Volasava was wise enough to understand it. She had not earned his trust. She had earned his acknowledgment. For someone in her position, that was already more than most Paragons would ever receive from an existence like him.

Volasava closed her eyes and exhaled slowly.

At least the path to Transcendence now lay within her grasp. The inheritance he had given her was real, complete, and already beginning to integrate. All that remained was to enter true seclusion, fully master every layer of the knowledge, internalize it as her own, and then break through the ceiling of the Multiverse. The journey would still be dangerous. Even with a path, walking it would require time, discipline, and a willingness to abandon assumptions that had sustained her for eons. But for the first time in countless years, the journey was possible.

She opened her eyes again, gazing at the empty space where Runar had floated only moments before.

The boy who had entered the Reliquary as a Multiversal cultivator had left it as something far beyond her previous calculations. He had seen through her entirely, repaid a debt with a gift that could alter her entire future, and then departed without hesitation. He had not asked for gratitude. He had not demanded loyalty. He had not tried to bind her to him through obligation. That, more than anything else, told her how far above ordinary calculation he had risen.

She would not waste what she had received.

Volasava turned her will inward, sealing the personal space more tightly around herself and the Reliquary. The outside Multiverse could continue searching. Other Paragons could continue their fruitless pursuit. None of it mattered now.

She had her path.

All that remained was to walk it.

Far from her domain, in a location no Paragon could currently trace, Runar’s new form moved through the deeper folds of existence with calm certainty. Absolute Comprehension continued to map the structures of reality ahead of him. Origin Weave rested quietly within his vessel, ready to reshape whatever he required. The Multiverse stretched around him in all its vastness, but it no longer felt like an insurmountable expanse. It felt like a text he had only just begun to read.

The debt had been repaid.

The next step belonged only to him.
