Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God

Chapter 315: Chapter 316: Soul Core

The absorption did not stop.

Even after the Paragon reinforced her personal space with her own authority, the pull continued to intensify. What had begun as a vast extraction of ambient energies now turned directly toward her. Threads of her power — the very force she was using to hold the space together — began to unravel and stream toward the floating figure at the center. They were not violently torn from her, nor did they break away in a way that felt like an attack. They simply drifted, as though they had been convinced that they belonged somewhere else.

She felt it clearly.

Her own energy was being stripped away.

The sensation was subtle at first, then unmistakable. A portion of the authority she had layered over the spatial fabric was being drawn into Runar against her will. For a being who stood at the peak of the Multiverse, the experience was rare and deeply unsettling. She had spent countless years refining her power, stabilizing her domain, and establishing authority so absolute that even other Paragons would hesitate before intruding upon it. Now that authority was being treated as nothing more than another source of fuel.

She increased the output of her reinforcement, pouring more of her power into the space to compensate. Golden-silver runes spread across the void like a second sky, pressing against the cracks and forcing the trembling fabric of the personal realm to remain stable. The cracks slowed again, but the drain did not fully cease. Every wave of power she sent outward lost a fraction of itself before it could settle into place. That fraction flowed inward, joining the rivers of multicolored light that circled Runar’s body.

Her expression remained calm, but her thoughts had grown sharp.

He is still in enlightenment, yet his hunger is already reaching beyond ambient energy. If this continues, he will begin pulling from the Reliquary itself. If he pulls from the Reliquary, the ruin’s deeper systems may react, I dont know what counter-measure the Rune Sovereign left behind in the ruin in the absence of the Ancient Will. If the ruin reacts while I am reinforcing the space, the situation will become difficult to control.

Even as she calculated, she did not withdraw.

Withdrawing was not a meaningful option. If she removed her support now, the personal space might collapse inward before the absorption stabilized. The Reliquary, her domain, and the still-enlightened Runar would all be caught in the resulting rupture. She could survive such a disaster, but survival was not the same as success. She had not seized the ruin to watch it fall apart before she could claim its true value.

So she endured.

The storm of light around Runar grew denser. Space energy, cosmic energy, void energy, qi, mana, aether, divine energy, and zero-point vacuum energy all continued to pour into him without pause. The rivers of light had become so thick that they resembled a second body surrounding his own, a radiant shell made of every form of energy the Multiverse could produce. The pressure radiating from that shell was no longer merely heavy. It had become sovereign, as though the energies themselves had accepted a new ruler.

Inside the still figure, the final transformation occurred.

The Supreme Principle of Absolute Comprehension and the Supreme Principle of Origin Weave reached completion at the same moment. The long cycle of refinement, fusion, and mutual nourishment ended. The two principles stabilized within Runar’s soul, resonating with a depth and clarity that surpassed everything that had come before. They were no longer embryonic. They were whole.

Absolute Comprehension settled first. It became a silent, infinite clarity at the center of his being, an authority that could read the structure of anything that existed, anything that could exist, and anything that had been deliberately hidden from existence. It did not merely understand laws; it understood the reason laws existed, the grammar that allowed them to bind reality, and the loopholes that reality itself had not yet noticed.

Origin Weave settled immediately after. It became the active counterpart to that clarity, the power to take what had been understood and weave it into truth. It no longer needed runes as a primary medium, though runes remained its natural language. It could shape structure directly, rewrite foundations, and create new patterns from perfected understanding. Where Absolute Comprehension revealed the threads of reality, Origin Weave could seize those threads and begin weaving.

The two Supreme Principles did not simply exist beside each other. They existed through each other. They formed a closed, self-reinforcing cycle that no longer required external input to continue growing. Every truth comprehended became material for weaving. Every woven truth became material for deeper comprehension. The cycle had become eternal in the truest sense a cultivator could achieve.

Deep within Runar’s soul, the faint embryonic runes that had appeared during the final stage of enlightenment brightened one last time. They were not runes in any known sense. They did not belong to the Rune Sovereign’s system, nor did they belong to the Ancient Will’s trial grammar. They were original structures born from the resonance of the twin Supreme Principles, the first fragments of a language that might one day describe what lay beyond the Multiverse.

Then the cycle closed.

The instant that completion settled, Runar’s body reacted.

The information-life-form vessel that had carried him through the Reliquary and the weeks of enlightenment simply disintegrated. There was no explosion, no violent rupture, and no backlash of uncontrolled power. It dissolved into pure light and scattered like mist under a strong wind. The light did not fly outward in destruction. It drifted inward, folding into the center of his being as though it had always been meant to return somewhere deeper. In less than a breath, nothing physical remained.

Only a single radiant soul core floated in the empty space where his body had been.

It was not large. It did not radiate aggressive pressure. It did not try to dominate the surrounding space. It simply existed with a completeness that made everything around it feel less real. The core was golden-white, clear, and impossibly dense, yet it gave the impression of being weightless. Within it, the twin Supreme Principles resided openly, their presence clear and undeniable even to external perception. Absolute Comprehension appeared as an endless field of silent clarity, while Origin Weave appeared as a lattice of living structure constantly forming and refining itself. Around the two principles, the original embryonic runes drifted slowly like the first stars of a new cosmos.

Golden-white light pulsed from the core in steady waves, carrying the quiet weight of Absolute Comprehension and the structured authority of Origin Weave. Each pulse moved through the reinforced personal space without damaging it, but every pulse made the Paragon’s expression grow more serious.

The true Paragon stared.

She had lived for longer than most civilizations could remember. She had seen the rise and fall of countless geniuses, the birth of ancient treasures, and the deaths of beings who believed themselves immortal. Very few sights could still surprise her. Even fewer could make her hesitate.

The soul core before her did both.

For a very brief moment, something dangerous moved through her ancient mind.

Greed.

It was not a childish greed, nor was it the crude desire of a lesser being staring at a treasure it could not comprehend. It was the greed of a Paragon who had reached the absolute limit of her path and suddenly saw a door that will definitely open her path.

The soul core before her was perfect. It carried two newly born Supreme Principles. It had just demonstrated an absorption capacity that strained even her personal space.

It had probably mastered the Rune Sovereign’s inheritance, devoured the Ancient Will, and refined countless principles to a level that even she would have to take seriously.

If she could take it — if she could devour it and make those principles her own — the path to Transcendence will open in a way she had never previously imagined.

The thought formed cleanly and without hesitation.

It was not a fantasy. It was a calculation. A Paragon’s soul was strong enough to attempt such a thing. Her authority was vast enough to try sealing the core. Her comprehension was deep enough to begin dissecting its structure. If she acted quickly, before the core fully stabilized in its awakened state, she might succeed where no one else could. The Multiverse would lose a potential anomaly, but she would gain the chance to step beyond the peak that had imprisoned her for eons.

She hadn’t even moved an atom yet.

And the response was instantaneous.

An overwhelming will pressure descended on her like the sky itself collapsing.

It was not energy. It was not a principle. It was not a technique. It was pure will — vast, absolute, and filled with the unmistakable intent of death. The pressure locked onto her consciousness with such precision and force that, for a single terrifying instant, a true Paragon felt the approach of genuine annihilation. There was no warning within the pressure. There was no negotiation. There was only a single meaning, delivered with a clarity that bypassed language and struck directly at the core of her existence.

You will Die if you reach for me.

Her greed vanished instantly.

She withdrew the thought completely, her expression turning colder and far more serious than it had been at any point since she had taken the Reliquary.

The movement of her action which hadnt even moved yet, stopped.

The portion of her power which had been mobilised to begin shifting toward the soul core returned to its original position. She did not attempt to hide her retreat, because she understood that any attempt at deception would only make the warning more severe.

The will pressure lingered for a moment longer, as if confirming that the warning had been received, then slowly receded. It did not disappear all at once. It withdrew in measured silence, leaving behind a heavy stillness that pressed against the reinforced personal space like the memory of a blade.

Understanding settled in her mind with perfect clarity.

Runar was not defenseless.

Even while deep in enlightenment, even after his physical body had disintegrated, he had remained in a state of pure vigilance. The moment a trace of greed appeared in the being who was supposedly protecting him from the eyes of other paragons, he had responded with a strict and unmistakable warning. He had not needed to awaken. He had not needed to speak. He had not needed to gather power or activate a technique. His will alone had been enough to make a Paragon feel the shadow of true death.

That realization changed everything.

She had known he was dangerous. She had known the twin Supreme Principles made him valuable beyond measure. She had even accepted that he might one day become an existence she would have to treat as an equal or higher. But she had still assumed that, in his current state, he was vulnerable. She had assumed that enlightenment was a state of openness, a moment when the soul was exposed and the mind was turned inward. She had assumed that if she chose to act, she would hold the initiative.

She had been wrong.

The soul core before her was not a treasure waiting to be claimed. It was an existence that could already force a Paragon to feel the approach of annihilation with nothing more than will. Whether that will belonged to his conscious mind or had become an automatic defense of his completed soul did not matter. The result was the same. If she reached for him again, the next warning might not stop at pressure.

It would most likely lead to Death.

The Paragon slowly exhaled.

The sound was quiet, but in the silence of the reinforced space it carried weight. She did not allow her irritation to show. Irritation was useless. She also did not allow fear to take root. Fear was equally useless. What mattered was reassessment. The entity she had brought into her personal space was far more dangerous than she had calculated.

She looked at the soul core again, this time without greed.

Without the distortion of desire, she could see it more clearly. The twin Supreme Principles were not merely powerful; they were balanced. Absolute Comprehension gave Runar the ability to understand anything. Origin Weave gave him the ability to act upon that understanding. Together, they formed a foundation that could theoretically grow without limit. If he survived, if he matured, and if he learned to wield them properly, he would not simply become another Paragon. He would become a variable that could alter the structure of the Multiverse itself.

And she had just tried to devour him.

The thought did not make her flinch, but it did make her more cautious. She had lived long enough to know that pride was less important than survival. She had been greedy, and she had been stopped. That was not humiliation. It was information. The information told her that force was no longer the correct path. If she wanted to benefit from this existence, she would need a different method.

The soul core continued to float calmly in the reinforced space, radiating the quiet, sovereign pressure of two fully formed Supreme Principles. It did not react to her thoughts. It did not threaten her again. It simply existed, complete and watchful in a way that made silence feel like the safest choice.

The Paragon stood motionless for a long time.

The absorption had slowed now that the twin principles were complete, but it had not stopped entirely. The rivers of multicolored light continued to flow into the soul core, though they were thinner and more orderly than before. The cracks in the personal space had stopped spreading. Her reinforcement remained in place, but the strain had lessened enough that she could maintain it without constant effort.

Still, she did not relax.

Her clone stood a short distance away, perfectly still, having witnessed everything. The clone’s expression was calm, but her thoughts were clearly racing. She had felt the will pressure too, though only as a reflection of what her true body had endured. That reflection alone had been enough to silence her. 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

The true Paragon finally spoke, her voice quiet and controlled.

”He is not a vessel to be taken.”

The clone did not answer immediately. Then she gave a small nod.

”What do we do now?”

The true Paragon’s eyes remained fixed on the soul core. The greed was gone. The calculation remained. The situation had changed, but it had not become hopeless. If anything, it had become more interesting. A being that could warn a Paragon with pure will while still in enlightenment was a being worth dealing with carefully.

”We wait,” the true Paragon said. ”When he wakes, we speak.”

The clone looked at the soul core for a long moment. ”And if he does not speak?”

The true Paragon’s expression did not change.

”Then we listen.”

Silence settled over the reinforced space once more. The soul core pulsed with golden-white light, steady and sovereign, while the rivers of energy continued to flow into it from the surrounding void. The Paragon remained standing in place, her power still supporting the space, her earlier greed extinguished, and her mind already shifting toward a new strategy.

She had come to claim a ruin.

She had found something far more dangerous.

And now, for the first time since seizing the Reliquary, she understood that the most important thing inside it was not the inheritance, not the trials, and not the authority left behind by the Rune Sovereign.

It was the soul that had just warned her not to reach.
