Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God

Chapter 306: Chapter 307: Birth of a Supreme Principle

The final absorption did not feel like the slow, heavy process Runar remembered from the Void-Devouring Dragon.

Back then, the sheer volume of a true Multiversal existence had forced him to spend days carefully sorting, refining, and internalizing every fragment so that nothing would be wasted or rejected by his foundation. Every memory had needed to be separated from residual instinct. Every principle had needed to be stripped of foreign will. Every scrap of power had needed to be tempered before it could settle into his soul without causing backlash. That process had been painstaking, dangerous, and necessary, because a mortal foundation could not simply swallow the remains of a Multiversal creature without paying a heavy price.

This time was completely different.

His current strength had long since passed the point where such caution would have been required for a being like the Ancient Will. The dual runic-golden halos around his heart and brain provided a stable axis for the incoming energy. The Eye of Myriad Truths filtered the incoming information with terrifying precision, separating noise from truth before it could touch his core. The Principle of Runes organized the structure of the Will’s authority into grammar that his soul could read. Above all, the ongoing state of enlightenment turned what should have been a long and dangerous digestion into something almost instantaneous.

Everything happened at once.

Absorption. Understanding. Internalization.

The torrent of the Ancient Will’s trillions of years of memories, experiences, and accumulated principles poured into him and was immediately sorted by his Heaven-Defying Comprehension. There was no backlog. There was no period of instability. There was no need to sit in isolation while his soul struggled to contain the harvest. The knowledge simply became his, the way water becomes part of a river the moment it falls into the current.

In the span of only a few seconds, the process was complete.

The only thing that continued was the deeper, more personal work: the fusion of every principle he now possessed. Runes, Elements, Void Space, Time, Dimension, Analysis, Devouring, Suppression, and the countless lesser laws the Will had carried — all of them were being drawn together inside the furnace of his comprehension. They did not remain separate tools, nor did they sit inside him like borrowed weapons waiting to be used. They began to overlap, resonate, and refine one another under the pressure of his will, each principle testing the others, correcting the others, and revealing hidden connections that had never been visible before.

Runar felt the process from within, though he was no longer thinking in ordinary terms.

The Principle of Runes became the skeleton of the fusion, giving structure to every other law and allowing them to be written into a shared language. The Principle of Devouring became the hunger that pulled the fragments together, converting foreign authority into personal truth. The Principle of Analysis became the blade that separated meaning from noise. Void Space gave the fusion room to expand. Time gave it rhythm. Dimension gave it depth. The Elements gave it substance. Suppression gave it discipline. Every lesser law added another thread to the fabric being woven inside his soul.

And in the center of that fusion, something entirely new started to take shape.

It was not a normal principle. It did not feel like any law, rule or principle that already existed within the Multiverse and its vast infinite universes. It felt deeper, more fundamental, as though the very grammar of reality was being rewritten in real time. A quiet, embryonic presence stirred at the core of his soul — the first spark of something so profound that even Runar’s Heaven-Defying Comprehension slowed for a moment in the face of it.

For the first time in his life, comprehension did not immediately give him an answer.

Instead, it gave him a question.

If all principles are languages, and if all languages can be read, then can the act of comprehension itself become a law?

The moment that question formed, the embryonic presence inside his soul pulsed once.

Runar remained deep in enlightenment, golden-white light circulating around his body in steady, sovereign waves. He did not yet know the full significance of what was being born. He only knew that the path ahead had just changed forever, and that whatever was forming inside him was not something he could stop even if he wanted to. It had been born from his refusal to accept limits, from his endless hunger for understanding, and from the impossible fusion of every truth he had devoured on his journey. It was his, and it was becoming something greater than him.

The Reliquary itself seemed to sense the change.

The broken battlefield around Runar’s physical body grew quieter. The chaotic fractures of space-time stopped expanding. The residual laws of the trial, which had been drifting without guidance since the Ancient Will detached, began to stabilize near him. They did not obey him yet, not fully, but they no longer treated him as an intruder. They leaned toward him the way plants leaned toward sunlight, as though they recognized that the intelligence that had once governed them had not simply vanished. It had been inherited.

---

A short distance away, the Mysterious Woman floated in the broken void with the Pseudo-Paragon core resting in her palm.

The guardian was dead. Its vast shadow-form had been dismantled with clinical precision, and the core it left behind pulsed with dense, ancient power. It was not merely a source of energy or a trophy of victory. It was the highest-tier core the trial had announced, the key that should have guaranteed candidacy for the inheritance. By every rule the Reliquary had proclaimed before the hunt began, claiming it should have triggered a response. There should have been a systematic voice. There should have been a reward. There should have been an opening of deeper chambers or a shift in the trial’s structure.

Yet nothing happened.

No voice spoke.

No reward descended.

No hidden gate opened.

The Ancient Will was gone.

She had sensed it during the battle. Midway through her fight with the guardian, the constant, subtle pressure of the Reliquary’s supervising intelligence had suddenly vanished from its hidden post and plunged into the young man standing at the edge of the battlefield. The movement had been unmistakable to a being of her level, because a consciousness as old and structured as the Ancient Will could not move without leaving traces that a Paragon’s clone could read. The Will had abandoned its duty, ignored the guardian, and entered Runar’s consciousness with clear, greedy intent.

Her conclusion had been immediate and accurate.

After being trapped inside this ruin for eons, the Ancient Will had finally found a vessel it considered worthy. It had chosen Runar. It intended to occupy his body, erase his soul, and continue its existence through him. Such things were not unheard of in the wider Multiverse, especially among ancient artifacts, sealed intelligences, and inheritances that had developed their own desires over long ages. The Will had been created to guard the Reliquary, but time had twisted its purpose, and desire had replaced duty.

She had no particular objection to that plan.

As long as she received the inheritance she had come for, the fate of a single trial supervisor meant nothing to her.

Her original intention had been simple: allow the Will to act, wait for it to settle into the host, then approach the boy, forcibly extract the Will from his mindscape, and compel it to grant her the promised reward before allowing it to resume its own schemes. She had even prepared the runic method for separating a possessing intelligence from a living soul without permanently damaging the host, because she understood that a damaged vessel would make the Will less cooperative.

Handle my business first before you handle yours.

That had been the entire plan.

She turned toward Runar, already preparing the method she would use to drag the Will out of him without permanently damaging the host. Golden and silver runes formed at her fingertips, each one designed to isolate consciousness, sever spiritual attachment, and force hidden intelligences into the open. She took one step through the broken void, her expression calm and her intent precise.

Then she stopped.

Her perception swept across his consciousness a second time, deeper and more carefully.

There was no Ancient Will.

Not a fragment. Not a remnant. Not even the fading echo of its authority.

The Will was simply gone — erased so completely that not even residual traces remained. It was not sealed inside Runar’s soul. It was not hiding in a corner of his mindscape. It was not dormant, wounded, or waiting. It had been removed from existence with a thoroughness that even she found difficult to accept.

For the first time since entering the Reliquary, genuine surprise flickered across her calm features.

It failed.

The realization settled quickly, but it did not become easier to believe. The Ancient Will had attempted to seize Runar’s body and had been annihilated instead. That was the only explanation that fit the absolute absence she was sensing. A being that had supervised this ruin for trillions of years, carried the authority of the Rune Sovereign’s design, and governed countless trial cycles had walked into the mind of a Multiversal cultivator and been destroyed so thoroughly that nothing of it survived.

If the Will was dead, then the formal path to the inheritance was broken. There was no longer a supervisor to acknowledge the Pseudo-Paragon core, verify the conditions of the hunt, or unlock the deeper rewards. The core in her hand was still valuable, still real, and still tied to the Reliquary’s structure, but without the Will to activate the corresponding protocols, it was little more than a key without a door.

Frustration moved through her — cold, controlled, and sharp.

She had crossed thousands of sectors for this opportunity. She had entered the trial, followed its rules, and claimed the highest-value core available. She had fought the guardian, dismantled its authority, and pushed her clone body to the edge of what the suppression allowed. And now the very intelligence that was supposed to grant the inheritance no longer existed.
