High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2101: Chapter 322: Burn Zheng Qing Da Parade (Part 2)

The starting point of the grand procession is in an abandoned garden between Jiuyou Academy and Alpha Fortress.

This garden was originally a classroom for practical courses. Many years ago, there were rumors to convert this garden into the Hundred Herb Gardens, so the practical courses were relocated elsewhere. Later, whether the school detected that this place had insufficient earth energy or found a better location, it gradually fell silent, but the garden eventually became deserted. On usual days, it was only used occasionally by the student council or student association for certain events as a gathering place for students.

Before reaching the garden, the Black Cat heard the noise and shouting in the distance—a stark contrast to the unusual silence in the academy tonight.

This made it feel a sense of inexplicable pride.

A rustling sound nearby interrupted its brief and subtle sense of pride.

”Are you going to follow me the whole way?” The Black Cat turned to look at the Sin Bearer beside it, who was looking around, with a somewhat unpleasant attitude: ”When I said ’going together,’ I didn’t mean we would stick together all night!”

The wizard wearing a white mask raised his hand, flicking away a beetle that had landed on his shoulder.

”Isn’t it possible,” he sincerely looked at the Black Cat, ”that we’re just on the same path... There seems to be only one road to our destination.”

The Black Cat flicked its ear and then its gaze fell on the wizard’s robe and mask.

”Aren’t you going to change your outfit?” It continued to provoke aimlessly.

The Sin Bearer gave it a deep look.

”Faceless demons are a common type of demon; every Halloween, there are always a dozen or so wizards dressed as faceless demons.” He adjusted the smooth mask on his face, his voice carrying a bit of contemplation: ”... It’s you instead, who seems a little unsettled... Do you know Zheng Qing? Are you close with him?”

The short hair around the Black Cat’s neck suddenly bristled, then swiftly flattened down.

”Ha, Zheng Qing, is there anyone who doesn’t know him?” Its voice was somewhat sharp, and the name mentioned quickly drew a few inquisitive glances from the darkness—these glances belonged to wizards also heading to the gathering—but realizing that it was just a cat who mentioned that name, those glances shifted away with disappointment.

This made the Black Cat even more vigilant, slightly quickening its pace, trying to shake off this exceptionally perceptive guy beside it.

As they spoke, one person and one cat had already stood outside the gate of the deserted garden.

Amidst the clamorous gathering were masks full of excitement. There were many styles of masks, making one feel like they were at a scene of a hundred ghosts parading at night. Among the bizarre masks, there were some who had stuffed their heads into carved-out pumpkins. You couldn’t help but wonder if their shoulders would hurt tomorrow after carrying such heavy decorations all night.

The Black Cat did not enter the venue, but stood atop a tall old locust tree outside the deserted garden. The view was excellent here, and if anything happened, escaping would be very convenient.

Although it was some distance from the center of the venue and it was nighttime, these wouldn’t cause any inconvenience to a cat. It could clearly see the towering pile of wood stacked in the center of the venue and the large wooden frame within it; it could also see the tall wooden platform built on one side of the pile, where wizards dressed in different colored robes and wearing various masks like cat, balance, ribbon, and Xiezhi were gesturing and speaking to the surroundings; and it could also see around the pile and the wooden platform, where wizards in various color robes and masks spread out like spirals.

He even spotted in the crowd the bats mask representing Lucifer from the Seven Sins, the wolf head mask representing Samael, and the goat mask representing Asmodeus which he had just seen earlier—surprisingly, that goat was very up front, right in front of the pile!

”Burn Zheng Qing!”

Asmodeus, wearing the goat mask, swung his arms, glancing around, shouting loudly in a hoarse voice, his gaze firm, his aura rampant.

”Burn him!”

”Burn him!”

”Burn him!”

Responses came from all directions, more fanatical and excited than him, as onlookers waved their arms, launching messy magic into the sky, making this world even more bizarre.

So it repeated, for several rounds.

Until the Black Cat on the tree, from initial jitteriness to cautiousness to nonchalance, had developed enough resistance to those fanatical voices; and when no more wizards entered the venue from outside, a warlock dressed in a yellow robe on the tall wooden platform beside the pile raised his hands, indicating everyone to quiet down.

”The Gospel of Matthew!”

His voice was calm and gentle, contrasting sharply with the restless atmosphere of the entire venue, full of persuasion: ”Jesus said, ’I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.’ Su Councilor, is the Holy Spirit of the human world. Zheng Qing’s sins cannot be forgiven.”

”Burn him! Burn him! Burn him!” Passionate and excited shouts rose from all directions, making the Black Cat click its tongue in admiration.

”I never knew the religious lunatics in Atlas also liked beauty.” It looked at the Sin Bearer, who was also sitting on a tree branch, with a tone of mockery.

”Shh.” The wizard wearing the white mask raised a finger, making a gesture for quiet.

The Black Cat pouted and flicked its ear.

”... Chapter six of Genesis!”

The guy in the yellow robe raised his hand again to quiet the noise below. Once there was silence all around, he spoke again: ”The Lord saw the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and every thought in his mind was evil all the time; the Lord regretted making man on earth, and his heart was troubled. Then the Lord said ’I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created, along with the animals, flying birds in the sky, and creatures that move along the ground, for I regret that I have made them.’”

”So Zheng Qing was born into sin.”

”He who does evil is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God appeared to destroy the devil’s works—we destroy the evil devil, we are all the children of God.”

This time, the wizards below did not immediately shout in response, instead, they looked at each other, seemingly a bit hesitant.

”Pfft!”

Crouching on the old locust tree, the Black Cat snickered: ”Are the organizers of this parade brain-damaged? Letting an Atlas lunatic give the motivational speech...”

”Overexertion.”

The wizard wearing the white mask nodded and then shook his head: ”It’s a pity, such a pity... what a great atmosphere!”

In the center of the venue, on the tall wooden platform.

The wizard in the white robe and cat mask stepped forward, took over the position of the one in the yellow robe, raised his hand and shouted: ”Only the flame can purify his wickedness! Only ashes can harbor the shadow of his repentance!”

He paced back and forth on the small platform, waving his arms, shouting himself hoarse: ”Only by burning him can he regain freedom—from body to soul! We have every reason to believe he will achieve true freedom through flames and blood!”

”Burn him! Burn him! Burn him!”

The atmosphere immediately surged again, taking advantage of the momentum, the Red Robe wearing the balance mask and the Blue Gown wearing the Xiezhi mask both raised their Law books, casting out two Fire Curses.
