High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2128: Chapter 249: Concealment

”Stop with the nonsense!”

Samael, wearing the Wolf Head Mask, interrupted the interaction between the Black Cat and the Witch, sounding a bit irritated: ”I’ve wasted my precious evening time coming here, not to hear idle chatter from you!”

”In this regard, I support Mr. Wrath.” Mammon, wearing the Fox Mask, spoke slickly.

”It’s Wrath, not irritated.” The Black Cat seriously corrected, raising a paw and glancing around: ”So, what news have you all received, let’s hear it?”

Everyone looked at the Black Cat, confused.

It made the Black Cat feel a bit uneasy all over.

”Is there a problem?” The Black Cat unconsciously lowered its voice.

”No, there isn’t.”

The Witch wearing the Cat Mask appeared behind the Black Cat at some point, her fingers wandering on the table, watching the Black Cat’s tail as she explained with a good attitude: ”It’s just that, generally, we let the member who initiated the meeting host it.”

Before her voice fell, her two fingers suddenly grabbed at the tip of the Black Cat’s tail.

The Black Cat didn’t even turn its head, its tail tip flexibly darted to another side, avoiding the Witch’s fingers. It twitched its ears, clearly hearing the sigh of regret from beneath the Cat Mask, causing it to grumble in its mind about Miss Jealousy’s behavior, as childish as Li Meng.

”So, you didn’t call me over because of the ’Ravens’ news?” The Black Cat patiently asked.

”Ravens?” Mr. Arrogance slightly lifted his chin.

”What Ravens?” Belfinger, wearing the Bird Head Mask, also perked up, unlike a true ’Lazy One,’ looking around with interest: ”When did the Seven Sins gain a Raven?”

”You don’t know?”

The Black Cat sitting on the conference table straightened up, a hint of confusion in its eyes: ”A while ago I asked the Sin Bearer, well, my predecessor, to publish a task about collecting information on ’Ravens’ in the Seven Sins... you don’t know? ... I originally thought tonight’s gathering was related to that task.”

”No, tonight’s gathering was called by me, unrelated to ’Ravens.’” Mr. Arrogance crossed his arms, tapping his Bat Mask with his fingers, his voice with some consideration: ”Regarding the ’Ravens’ you mentioned, I haven’t received any related task assignments.”

”Me neither.”

”No.”

”Haven’t heard of it.”

”Don’t know.”

The wizards around the conference table all chimed in or shook their heads, denying having received any similar task from the former Sin Bearer, except for one person who didn’t speak up.

”Release!”

The Black Cat rotated the Ruby Ring on his paw wrist, casting a spell to release the gag order on Mr. Lust, shooting a questioning glance over.

The Warlock wearing the Sheep Head Mask rubbed his cheek.

”Don’t know.” He hummed, not in a good mood: ”Your predecessor had information more well-connected than all of us. It’s likely he thought your ’search for Ravens’ task had no value, so didn’t publish a formal commissioned task... By the way, if I had known you were in cahoots with Jealousy earlier, I wouldn’t have been so rude...”

”Cahoots?”

The Black Cat blinked, instinctively turning around, only to see the Witch wearing the Cat Mask had at some point grabbed its tail, spinning it around her index finger with a look like she wanted to wear a fur ring.

The Black Cat, face darkened, again rotated the Ruby Ring on its paw wrist, silencing the Sheep Head Warlock once more, warning sternly: ”A reminder, everyone in this meeting room should maintain the most basic respect for each member! I am your Sin Bearer, not a cat!”

With that, it fiercely pulled its tail tip back.

”Alright, alright,” the Witch wearing the Cat Mask bubbly raised her hands: ”We know you’re a non-cat cat... but at the end of the day, you’re still a cat, right.”

The Black Cat stood up, wandered to another corner of the conference table, turning its back to Mr. Arrogance—despite his arrogance, relatively speaking, the wizard wearing the Bat Mask seemed the most polite one in the room—facing Miss Jealous, ensuring it wouldn’t be ambushed again, while tilting its head, indicating it didn’t want to continue discussing irrelevant topics.

”Before tonight’s agenda, let me repeat the mentioned task.”

After contemplating for a moment, the Black Cat spoke again: ”To my knowledge, a group of wizards wearing Raven Masks appeared at First University, identities unknown, purposes unknown, activity patterns unknown. Here is the design of their masks...”

The Black Cat rotated the Ruby Ring on its paw wrist, using magic to outline the style of the Raven Masks, while adding: ”Based on existing observational data, they wear standard black Wizard Robes, the number of members is uncertain, suspected to be three or more, extremely powerful, all possessing Registered Wizard level spellcasting abilities.”

”How can we investigate when we don’t know anything?” Belfinger wearing the Bird Head Mask half-raised his hand lazily, his voice dragging: ”I think it’s better to forget it.”

”The most recent observation of these wizards,” the Black Cat glanced at Mr. Lazy without expression, its voice unbroken: ”was at the hunting party finals venue at First University half a month ago, traces of their activities were discovered in the depths of Silent Forest... It’s believed their activities somehow affected the final results of this year’s hunting party.”

Upon these words, the atmosphere in the conference room abruptly changed.

The most evident were Miss Jealous Leviathan wearing the Cat Mask, Mr. Wrath Samael wearing the Wolf Head Mask, and behind the Black Cat, Mr. Arrogance Lucifer wearing the Bat Mask.

Perhaps it’s the intuition of a feline creature, the Black Cat clearly sensed compared to other members, the aura emitted by these three people suddenly became much more serious.

That is to say, these three might be members of the Hunting team that entered the finals of the hunting competition? The Black Cat twitched its ears, its mind racing with guesses, or perhaps they have relatives or friends who entered the finals of the hunting competition? Are they avid enthusiasts of the hunting competition?

Of course, it can’t be ruled out that this is just a false display, pretending.

Moments later, Mr. Arrogance spoke first, his voice somewhat deep: ”You said they influenced the final results of this year’s hunting party, do you have any evidence?”

”No.”

The Black Cat gave a crisp flick of its tail, quickly adding: ”I didn’t expect with such little, low-value information for you to investigate anything yourselves... But I believe each of you has your own social circles, and I also believe in your ability to secretly gather information within those circles without exposing your identities. I just hope if you obtain information regarding ’Ravens,’ you can share it with me, and of course, I’ll compensate you accordingly.”
