High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2103: Chapter 324: Burn Zheng Qing Da Parade (Final)

Zhu Si couldn’t manage it herself.

The greater Zhu Si was unprovokable, and the lesser Zhu Si was too daunting to provoke; if she accidentally summoned out the reclusive Rat Immortal, she would get beaten up with nowhere to complain — Black Cat recalls that the gentleman also knows this little girl.

As for the other two...

Su Ya would be easily dealt with by reporting this ’great disgrace’ to Su Man; the strict Head Maid would certainly make the Little Fox Lady scrub the floor for a month.

As for Li Meng, just thinking about her name made the Black Cat flick its tail.

This little girl was the easiest yet most difficult to handle.

Because dealing with her required finding only one person.

But ever since the issue with Su Shijun fermented thoroughly, he hadn’t figured out how to face Jiang Yu’s bright eyes — even though he knew Jiang Yu was already aware of the situation, everything was different now.

”Whoa! Finally, they are here!”

Next to him, the white-masked Wizard suddenly spoke, interrupting Black Cat’s wild thoughts. It snapped back to reality and realized that the parade was about to pass under the old locust tree.

Turning to look at the Wizard beside him, he saw him leisurely rolling up his sleeves and pulling out a palm-sized little straw doll from his arms — because he was so close, Black Cat easily saw the familiar name hanging on the doll, and it was dumbfounded.

”Not satisfied with burning the big ones, now you’re burning the small ones?” Black Cat couldn’t hide the indignation in its tone, although to others, it sounded more like surprise.

”Do you want one too?”

Noticing Black Cat’s eyes widening, the Wizard in the white mask snapped his fingers, and a wisp of golden-red flame ignited at his fingertip: ”... If you want one, go buy it yourself, No. 97 Beta Town Pedestrian Street, D&K, a small straw doll for a silver dime each, limited to two per person, it’s been selling like crazy these days, I barely managed to snatch two...”

”Ha?”

At the mention of the familiar address and shop name, Black Cat was full of question marks: ”Wait, I didn’t hear you clearly, did you say D&K...?”

”Yes, the store that rumors say Zheng Qing opened.”

The Sin Bearer nodded briskly, staring intently at the parade below and explaining slowly: ”... But recently, the shop has published statements in the Campus Newspaper for consecutive days, stating that Zheng Qing is just the titular legal representative, and the actual owner is the Forgiveness Knight Order... It’s all about taking responsibility, right? As an apology, the shop specifically launched straw doll products with ’Zheng Qing’ markings for everyone to vent... It’s said that the shop can get items used by Zheng Qing to embed into the dolls, so it’s absolutely genuine. Up until now, most of the popular straw dolls in the school are supplied by this shop, including the five large straw dolls used in tonight’s parade.”

”Burning so many straw dolls, won’t something go wrong?” It couldn’t help but interrupt.

The Sin Bearer adjusted his mask, sounding a bit uncertain: ”I hope not... the school is definitely keeping an eye on this matter... Most likely, things are within controllable bounds... As for Zheng Qing, that bastard, death is unlikely, but a streak of bad luck, isn’t that deserved? This is the will of the people!”

Black Cat listened to this ghost talk, feeling like it had a whole sack of wheat bran to sell.

No wonder recently the heads of those Nightmare Dolls under its pillow kept falling off so smoothly. It dared to bet that Xin Fat Man would never think of such a ’brilliant’ method.

Now the only question is, how many moles are around it?

And, what did they take to make those little straw dolls — no hair or blood, it had been guarding those closely, could they have pulled a few threads from its clothes or bed sheets?

Thinking of this, Black Cat couldn’t help but lower its head, examining the bustling parade below once more, trying to spot a few familiar figures.

But this time, every figure seemed suspicious.

Whoosh!

Black Cat’s ears twitched lightly, catching the sound of a small straw doll being ignited. Then, the white-masked Wizard raised the burning straw doll high and shouted:

”Burn him!”

A streak of light fell from beside him, and the burning straw doll plunged decisively to the feet of the parade below, turning into an inconspicuous little bonfire.

Wow!

The parade erupted in cheers and whistles.

As if on command, from the surrounding originally silent treetops came a series of snaps, and then bursts of firelight flickered in the night, ’Burn him!’ shouts rang out one after another, and one little bonfire after another lit up and linked together, paving a striking path for the parade.

This scene, juxtaposed with the grand procession beneath the tree, made the spectacle even more magnificent.

Black Cat felt a chill run down its spine, retracting its gaze, curling up, and looking around — although it had noticed some Wizards hidden in the treetops before, it thought they just didn’t want to participate in the parade below, just observing from afar out of curiosity.

Yet unexpectedly, these guys had such a role!

”You really didn’t buy any?” The Sin Bearer’s surprised voice came to Black Cat’s ear.

Turning back, the white-masked Wizard had somehow procured another little straw doll in hand, the other hand’s fingertip already flickering with flame, seemingly about to ignite it.

”No.”

Black Cat slowly shook its head, speaking in a deep tone: ”I’ve been in the laboratory conducting experiments and wasn’t aware of the store’s situation... Tsk, these young people, they sure have made quite an endeavor...”

Seeing Black Cat’s ’envious’ eyes, the Sin Bearer hesitated for a few seconds, then deeply sighed, offering the straw doll to Black Cat:

”At least it’s a club, during a festivity, it’s not good to let you watch alone... I’ve already burned one, so take this one, it’s free, don’t worry...”

With an inscrutable expression, Black Cat accepted the straw doll, just about to refuse under the pretext of not knowing fire magic when a burning fingertip appeared in front of its eyes.

”You’re welcome.”

The Sin Bearer pointed at Black Cat’s paw, laughing heartily: ”I know it’s slightly tricky for cats to light a fire... No need to be polite, we’re all in this together.”

Darn it, who’s ’together’ with you!

Black Cat cursed inwardly, its face shedding the facade of a fake smile, darkening as it touched the straw doll’s head—bearing its name—to the flaming fingertip.

Whoosh!

The doll’s head immediately turned into a fireball amid subtle crackles, the fireball then spread downwards, engulfing the entire little straw doll in moments.

”Burn him!”

It shouted, tossing the doll straight to the forefront of the parade.

The crowd erupted into a new wave of cheers.

The leading Fat Wizard, raising the burning large straw doll, was about to express gratitude to the ’comrades’ in the tree when he was startled by the sight of a familiar-looking Black Cat glaring at him from the branches.

Startled, he nearly stumbled.

”Hold it steady, fatso!”

A short Wizard, wearing a Fox Mask and dragging a fluffy big tail behind him, dashed out of the crowd, angrily chastising the Fat Wizard: ”We only have this one large straw doll, if you topple it, there’s not even a place to replace it... Do you want other academies to laugh at us?”

Feeling weak, the Fat Wizard straightened himself, shrinking his form unconsciously.

Looking back towards the tree, the old locust tree no longer had any trace of the Black Cat, as if the figure he saw was just an illusion.

He quietly exhaled, raising the burning straw doll once more, shouting:

”Burn him!”
