High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2146: Chapter 367: Those Who Know, Know

”If you were there, you’d just end up shivering and holding your head.”

The fat wizard rudely interrupts the red-faced male wizard’s ramblings, mockingly warning, ”That was the big wizard taking action... don’t tell me you don’t know your own limits!”

”No,” Zhang Ji Xin very seriously argues, ”I’m saying, if I were there, maybe I could have seen the true form of that big wizard... A few days ago, my brother gave me a high-tier Insight spell talisman ’Clearly Visible’ to use when organizing the hunting team training, tch, that’s really a shame.”

Saying this, he reaches into his chest pocket and pulls out a palm-sized yellow talisman paper to show his companions. On the paper, the spell formula drawn in dark red cinnabar shines with a five-colored radiance under the sunlight, with magical fluctuations circulating that make the heart palpitate.

”Oh... it truly is a bit of a shame.” The fat wizard nods reluctantly.

Zheng Qing’s thoughts are wholly occupied with those wizards who are as bruised and battered as he is, uninterested in Xin Fat Man’s description of the big wizard’s battle scene—it goes in one ear and out the other. After all, he not only has seen terrifying beings from the deeps of the starry sky but also witnessed legendary bosses’ battles, and having been through death himself, he naturally doesn’t care so much about the big wizard’s fight anymore—only when the red-faced male wizard takes out that talisman paper does he lift his eyelids for a glance.

That talisman is indeed very powerful, at least at his current level, it would take some blood to seal such strong magic power.

”Old... Yao... is... coming... Old Yao is coming!”

The stick figure by the door weakly shouts, breaking off the idle chat of the warlocks in the corner and quickly smoothing out the noisy classroom atmosphere.

Zheng Qing collects his thoughts, flips open his textbook, planning to check on the condition of several other ’victims’ after class.

Thanks to the campus hunting competition coinciding with Zheng Qing’s identity being revealed, the ’rumors’ about Professor Yao’s identity have not been mentioned lately, and even the ”Beta Town Post”, which has never liked Old Yao, hasn’t published any sensational headlines such as ’suspected rogue Red Robe Academy dean causing a horrifying blood case’ for several issues.

So, recently, Professor Yao has stopped using projections to teach everyone.

”Good morning!”

The professor walks in greeted everyone, a handout tucked under his arm as he swaggers up to the podium with a peculiar smile on his face—’peculiar’ because Zheng Qing always felt that he was smiling at him.

This made the young cost student inexplicably feel a trace of danger.

”Professor, was there really a big wizard duel on Pedestrian Street yesterday?” Xin Fat Man eagerly raises his hand, looking at the old wizard on the podium with eager eyes, hoping to get some new information from the ’higher-ups’.

After all, Old Yao has already been certified by the Mage Alliance as a legendary wizard, his information is definitely more reliable than certain drunken street wanderers at midnight.

Even if he only reveals a word or two, the fat wizard is confident he could pen an eight-hundred-word article, citing statements from ’authoritative figures’.

”Hehe.”

Old Yao’s face shows the typical sleazy expression of middle-aged men, grinning so much that a chill runs down Zheng Qing’s spine—of course, in the eyes of other students, perhaps that is a smile of ’profound unfathomable mystery’ belonging to a legendary wizard:

”What can I say? Those who know, know. The cause of the matter is simpler than everyone thinks, hmm, it’s not a big deal. More specifically, due to identity reasons, I can’t say too much. In general, as long as everyone knows, saying too much won’t benefit but instead will cause trouble, that’s what it means... I can only say so much, those who don’t know need not speculate wildly, it’s not really related to regular students, no need to snoop around... Well, that’s it, let’s start the class!”

Below the podium, the young wizards look at each other, feeling like the professor said a lot but also nothing at all, leaving them unsure whether to applaud or keep asking questions. In their confusion, they can only follow the professor’s final directive, obediently opening their textbooks.

Thus, after a moment of silence, the classroom filled with the rustling sound of pages flipping.

”What a riddle master!”

Xin Fat Man uses his open book to cover his head, turning to look at his two companions behind him, feeling disgruntled, ”He said everything that needed to be said, so how am I supposed to write my article?”

”You can just quote it word for word.” Zheng Qing strokes the sleek feather on his feather pen, lazily dismissing the fat wizard, while turning his gaze to Xiao Xiao.

Doctor Xiao is thoughtfully chewing on his pen shaft, with that black notebook open in front of him.

”Did you really pick up any clues?” The young cost student looked incredulous.

”I wouldn’t say clues.” Doctor Xiao adjusted his glasses and glanced at Zheng Qing, ”It’s just that one word in the professor’s nonsense aroused my concern... for example, what does it mean ’not much related to regular students’?”

”It’s just...” Zheng Qing was about to explain, but suddenly froze on the spot.

”You realize it too,” the doctor looked at his deskmate meaningfully, lowering his voice slightly, ”there aren’t many ’non-regular’ students at the First University after all... those capable of causing such big trouble, hehe...”

Zheng Qing forced a smile, ”Maybe the professor just said it casually...”

”Perhaps.” Doctor Xiao shrugged, turned his head towards the blackboard, obviously not intending to continue wasting words on this topic with the young cost student.

Leaving only Zheng Qing, becoming more and more burdened with thoughts.

”Oh, by the way.”

Professor Yao suddenly spoke, once again drawing the attention of the entire class. He seemed to have just noticed a certain nasal-bruised cost student at the back of the classroom and asked very concernedly, ”Zheng Qing, what happened to your injury...”

”I got hurt during hunting team training last night, it’s no big deal.” Fearing he might say something dreadful, Zheng Qing hurriedly snatched the words, and to enhance persuasion, he flexed his arm on the desk, looking very healthy.

”Well, it’s all good then, all good.”

The professor nodded with a kind smile, looking around and admonishing earnestly, ”That’s why at every weekly class meeting, I emphasize this safety matter; hunting team training should also be moderate. Ah, campus safety is forever on the road! It can’t be overemphasized! We must talk about it every day, every week, every month...”

Zheng Qing always felt there was something deeper in his words.

Subsequently, the professor’s next words completely shattered the warlock’s hopeful thoughts: ”... Of course, if it’s just bumps and scrapes during hunting team training, don’t endure them by yourself. Write a letter back home to reassure your family and ’advise’ them not to worry. The school will handle everything, right... Young people, it’s inevitable to have impulsive moments, but impulsiveness is the devil, don’t act rashly...”

Zheng Qing, with a wooden expression, didn’t continue listening to the professor’s incessant chatter. He was just very sure that the professor had just stressed one word in that statement—advise.

Xiao Xiao, Xin, and Zhang Ji Xin all turned to look at Zheng Qing in unison, with inexplicably strange expressions.

As for the witch sitting in the front row, she didn’t turn back, remaining squarely focused on the podium, her posture upright, her neck held high like a proud swan.
