High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2125: Chapter 246: News from the Seven Deadly Sins

”It’s not impossible.”

Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses, seriously analyzing, ”There are indeed many Alphas in the Law Book Liberation Association who inherently disdain the Northern District wizards... If this proposal passes, a large number of Northern District wizards entering Jiuyou Academy will greatly reduce Jiuyou Academy’s development potential, decreasing the threat Jiuyou has posed to Alphas in academic achievements over recent years. If the proposal doesn’t pass, it will greatly lower Jiuyou Academy’s prestige in the Northern District, leading Northern District wizards to believe Jiuyou Academy is full of pretentious gentlemen who don’t act when practical interests are involved. Whether it passes or not, this issue will to some degree cause conflict between Northern District wizards and Jiuyou Academy students, which is advantageous for Alphas... it can be considered killing many birds with one stone.”

”They’ve practically won big,” Zheng Qing praised.

Xin Fat Man immediately chimed in agreement, ”That’s why I say they’re a tumor! They don’t do proper things all day, just look for trouble!”

”From another perspective, it’s not entirely a bad thing.”

Xiao Xiao pondered, offering a metaphor, ”If the school is a pool of clear water, then the ’Law Book Liberation Association’ is a little mudfish. Put a few drops of oil in the clear water where mudfish are bred, and the mudfish will spit out the impurities in its belly... These impurities will eventually sink to the bottom, while the mudfish, clean inside and out, is destined for someone else’s table.”

Upon hearing the word ’mudfish,’ Fatty Cat Tuan Tuan suddenly perked up its ears, its round eyes fixed on Xiao Xiao, then shifted to Xin Fat Man. The Fat Wizard smartly fished out a handful of small dried fish.

”I like clean food like this.”

While sharing a few small dried fish with the Fat Cat, he mumbled his comment, unsure if he was referring to the mudfish that had cleansed itself of impurities, or the small dried fish in his hands.

Zheng Qing wasn’t interested in competing with a cat for food; he thought the Doctor’s metaphor was still debatable, ”I rather think Northern District wizards are more like mudfish, because ultimately, the weakest one gets eaten... To eat or be eaten, that’s a question.”

”No, to eat or not to eat, that is the question.”

The Fat Wizard chewed on the small dried fish, shaking his head repeatedly, ”Just like those ascetics from Atlas often say—’Do not work for the food that spoils, but for the food that endures to eternal life,’ ’You seek me, not because you saw miraculous signs, but because you ate loaves and were filled,’ ’My flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink,’ ’Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood remain in me, and I in them.’”

”Lord, always give us this bread.”

Doctor Xiao pretended to pray, then turned to Zheng Qing, ”By the way, there’s a joint confrontation training program tonight between the Absolution Hunting Team and the Fringe Hunting Team... Remember to make time available. Hmm, you might also want to prepare a feather pen, I guess Lin Yan will ask you to sign some autographs.”

Zheng Qing had a strong impression of the first-year student who once planned to acquire the Absolution Hunting Team.

Only Xiao Xiao’s abrupt change of subject caught him slightly off guard. He paused for a few seconds, recovering his train of thought, ”Joint confrontation training? Why didn’t I know about this... Has power struggle reached this point already?”

He said this, pretending to be saddened, wiping his eye corners, mumbling something like ’times change, people become untrustworthy,’ ’not only burn my body, but also burn my heart,’ ’I’ve been away for only two weeks,’ and so forth.

Xiao Xiao rolled his eyes forcefully.

”If you’re willing to take over the task of writing the Hunting Team training schedule and submit relevant application materials, you’ll be able to know about such matters in advance.” He enunciated the words ’such matters’ particularly clearly.

Zheng Qing pretended not to hear and happily shifted the topic, ”Tonight? No problem, I have time! Haven’t moved in weeks, finally some activity...”

Before finishing his sentence, he halted in surprise, looking down at the grey cloth bag on his waist.

”What?”

The Doctor keenly sensed something was off and looked in the same direction as the young toll student. Faster than him was the Fat Cat fighting Xin Fat Man for the dried fish, which almost simultaneously with Zheng Qing looked at the grey cloth bag.

Zheng Qing did not immediately answer but reached into the bag, pulled out a ruby ring, his expression somewhat subtle—the dark red gemstone on the ring was flashing a faint light in a peculiar rhythm, a series of engraved golden inscriptions gliding constantly across the smooth surface.

Fat Cat sniffed disdainfully, withdrew its gaze, and resumed its struggle for Xin Fat Man’s dried fish.

Zheng Qing carefully examined the inscriptions.

After a while, he replied somewhat hesitantly, ”Hmm... Looks like I might not have time tonight... Seems someone in the Seven Sins proposed a meeting tonight, saying there’s important information to announce.”

”Seven Sins?”

”What are they up to!”

Xiao Xiao and Xin Fat Man furrowed their brows in sync, but Xin Fat Man’s curiosity was evident as a journalist, clearly interested in the ’important information announcement’; while Xiao Xiao’s frown carried a hint of helplessness, evidently displeased at uninvited guests disrupting his plans.

The captain of the Absolution Hunting Team shrugged.

”Don’t know.”

He hesitated too; on one hand, he very much wanted to attend tonight’s training session, not because he loved hunting or wanted to sign autographs, but to openly chat with Little White Cat. On the other hand, he previously asked the former Sin Bearer to investigate those ravens, and if tonight’s news relates to the ravens, missing it would be regrettable.

”Attend!”

The Fat Wizard staunchly expressed his stance, ”We now desperately need ’antennae’ beyond our capability to capture information... Also, as far as I know, the Monitor will supervise Li Meng doing makeup homework tonight so likely won’t be able to attend the training.”

Zheng Qing immediately made up his mind.

Nonetheless, he made a ’democratic’ glance at the Doctor, as if seeking his opinion.

”Go wherever you want, anyway missing one or two people won’t affect the team.” Xiao Xiao sniffed disdainfully, ”The only thing to note is not to stay in cat form too long... Otherwise, you’ll be dragging a cat tail behind you at tomorrow night’s class meeting.”

”Not at all, not at all.” Zheng Qing chuckled, stroked his chin, pondered for a moment, ultimately slammed his fist into his palm, ”I’ll attend both!”

”Huh?” The Fat Wizard was dumbfounded.

Xiao Xiao also raised his eyebrow, ”What do you mean?”

”Compound Soup Remedy.”

Zheng Qing snapped his fingers, sharing his idea, ”You know, in the Seven Sins, nobody knows each other’s identity, but you also know there’s a very special black cat in school... To avoid them associating the black cat with me, it’s best we both appear in different places... This is absolutely not redundant, completely preventive measures!”
