High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2113: Chapter 234: Ruby Ring

”I’ll choose the first one.” The Black Cat interrupted Beelzebub’s preaching.

”Are you sure?”

”I’m sure.”

”Alright then,” the Pighead Wizard pulled out a pocket watch and pressed it forcefully: ”Eat 365 roast chickens within an hour, the timer starts!”

”Please set up a larger barrier,” the Black Cat looked at the Sin Bearer and requested very politely: ”The bigger, the better, to avoid disturbing the School Guardian Array or the patrol team.”

”Oh!” The wizard wearing a white mask suddenly understood, opened his law book, and several streams of light were cast to the surroundings, erecting a massive concealing barrier in a moment.

Beelzebub looked at this scene in confusion.

The Black Cat took a deep breath.

It kept inhaling, as if it had two infinitely large lungs, and the endless air entered the Black Cat, expanding its size continuously.

One meter, two meters, three meters.

Soon, a gigantic black cat appeared in front of Beelzebub and the Sin Bearer. The two wizards looked up at the deep shadow overhead, one showing a look of unsurprise, the other’s gaze dazed.

”Although I guessed what it wanted to do... this scene is still quite shocking.” The wizard with the white mask murmured, turning to look at his companion: ”Becoming bigger on its own... doesn’t count as using magic right... According to its previous words, does this count as a talent ability?”

”This kind of ability?” Beelzebub’s tone carried a bit of hesitation: ”It probably doesn’t count...”

Before the words fell, the big cat opened its mouth wide, a massive barbed tongue fell from the sky, rolled and collected, and the mountain-sized roast chicken vanished without a trace, leaving only a wet, shiny cat saliva-covered tablecloth lying alone on the dark grass.

The mask on Beelzebub’s face twitched slightly, a wisp of flame appeared on the raised finger, seemingly wanting to burn the tablecloth, but quickly extinguished—it would definitely attract the attention of the Guardian Array to set fire to the school woods, and the simple barrier around couldn’t stop it.

The Black Cat raised its neck, its throat moved slightly, then lowered its head again, its pupils round like full moons standing erect, staring at the two wizards on the ground, a booming sound like thunder making the entire barrier shake incessantly:

”Did I pass the appraisal?”

”App- Appraisal?” The wizard with the pighead mask was dazed for a moment before nodding chaotically: ”Of course... using it, three seconds!”

He looked down at the time, then raised his head, looking at the Black Cat with a complex gaze: ”Congratulations... although somewhat impolite... but after eating, can you appear a bit more satisfied?”

”Satisfied?”

The Black Cat blew its whiskers, suddenly recalling a phrase it once heard: ”What’s the difference between being forced to eat and a prostitute forced to entertain clients? Pretending to be satisfied comes at a cost!”

”That’s why I like this arrogant cat.” The wizard with the white mask chuckled, draping his arm over the Pighead Wizard’s shoulder: ”It always gives you some surprise unexpectedly...”

Beelzebub’s shoulder shook, shrugging the Sin Bearer’s arm off, politely waved to the Black Cat.

”Since you passed the appraisal, I won’t disturb you... see you at the next meeting.” As he spoke, his figure gradually faded, soon disappearing from the Black Cat’s sight.

Only the Sin Bearer remained in the same place.

And that large, saliva-covered tablecloth.

”Why are you still here?” The Black Cat lowered its head, glancing at the wizard with the white mask, then at the tablecloth, its sharp claws bounced between its toes, seemingly somewhat impatient.

”Oh, just considering that since the appraisal is completed, after tonight you will be a member of the Seven Sins, so there are some things needing a brief explanation.” The Sin Bearer’s gaze was subtle while looking at the Black Cat’s claws, lightly raised his hands, took two steps back, and added: ”If you have time...”

”Then wait a moment!”

The Black Cat rudely interrupted the wizard, turned around, and shouted to the fruits on the Cat Fruit Tree: ”Little ones, dinner time!”

Then it opened its mouth, its throat wriggled briefly again, and spat out the mountain of roast chicken it just ate, sighing a long relief.

Contrary to the enlarging during inhalation, its body quickly shrank as that breath exhaled, turning back to its previous form in an instant. The Black Cat raised its paw, wiped its mouth, and burped.

On the Cat Fruit Tree, furry balls like ripe fruits dropped down one after another, landing with paws, screaming while pouncing toward the mountain of roast chicken.

The Black Cat burped again, spitting out a chicken bone, toothily picking its teeth, looking at the wizard with the white mask: ”Nothing can be done, the family is big, many mouths to feed... You shouldn’t mind this. Besides, to chat with you, I had to shrink... you should understand, if I shrink with so much stuff inside, I’d burst...”

”Don’t mind, don’t mind.” The Sin Bearer smiled broadly, waving his hands repeatedly: ”I can testify, Beelzebub has already passed your appraisal.”

The Black Cat contentedly burped a third time.

”Sorry,” it shook its fur, pacing in small circles on the spot: ”Though I spat out a lot, I did digest a few... I think it adds up to about two... Burp!”

It coughed out another chicken bone.

The mask on the Sin Bearer’s face seemed to twitch slightly. Without waiting for the Black Cat to speak, he quickly fished a ring from his pocket, handed it to the Black Cat.

”This is the evidence of the Sin Bearer of the Seven Sins, handing it to you.” His speed of speech was swift, looking like he didn’t want to stay any longer: ”The next meeting time and place for the Seven Sins will be notified through this ring, please keep it safe!”

The Black Cat eyed the ruby ring carefully—its brass material gleaming in the night, well-maintained, the gemstone clear and transparent, looking quite valuable. Of course, most noticed by the Black Cat, was the septagram shining within the gemstone.

”That’s formed by seven magic lights.”

As if knowing what the Black Cat was thinking, the Sin Bearer thoughtfully introduced: ”One belongs to space magic, the ring holds a small space containing your uniform and mask; one is communication magic, notifying or receiving messages; one slightly punishes other seven members, I like to silence Friedman; another an exquisite escape technique, allowing unnoticed departure... You’ll gradually grasp these.”

”Do cats also have uniforms?” The Black Cat muttered, interestingly slipping the ring onto its paw’s wrist.

”Perhaps.” The wizard with the white mask sighed gazing at the ring: ”That’s your matter to study, our handover ends here... So, goodbye!”

He slightly bowed, his figure gradually fading in the moonlight, until completely vanished.
