High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2149: Chapter 370: The Deal with Li Meng

Tuesday.

After the Divination Class in the morning, taking advantage of the interval when Jiang Yu went to the office building to submit homework, Zheng Qing quietly pulled Li Meng into the small woods next to the office building, planning to make a deal with her.

The content of the deal was Jiang Yu’s ’movements’ the night before.

Although the doctor had already speculated that the person who ’beat up’ those students might be Jiang Yu, there was no solid evidence; and Zheng Qing himself absolutely didn’t have the courage to stand in front of the witch, look her in the eye, and ask about this matter.

After all, the root of all trouble lay in his relationship with Su Shijun.

Truly caught between a rock and a hard place.

”A handkerchief! It must be one used by Su Councilor!”

Student Li Meng raised one finger, glaring at the young cost student in front of her with gritted teeth, hating his two-timing behavior, yet unwilling to give up this channel to get close to her idol. She decided to secretly lash out at Zheng Qing in her heart while making the transaction with him in reality.

Unfortunately, Zheng Qing didn’t have a handkerchief used by Su Shijun. He did have the chance to secretly take one or two out, but he was worried that next time he entered the Greenhill Mansion, he’d be thrown out by the owner or the head maid.

”You could ask Poseidon for help!” Li Meng maliciously suggested a seemingly ’reliable’ plan: ”Have it steal it, then pretend it got torn up, so no one would investigate!”

Where does teaching kids to lie and steal come in!

Zheng Qing glanced sideways at her, paused the hand he had already reached into the Grey Cloth Bag, and finally shook his head, taking out a copy of ”Real Experiences of the Soul” by Anonymous, shaking it in front of the little witch: ”I don’t have a handkerchief, but I have this book which should meet your requirements... It has her personal signature, much more precious than a handkerchief... Do you want it?”

”I want it!”

Li Meng, though angry, happily took the book but followed it with a remark that caught Zheng Qing by surprise: ”It wasn’t my sister who did it that night.”

”It wasn’t?” Zheng Qing raised his voice slightly, his tone full of suspicion.

”It was Li Neng who acted.”

The little witch’s second statement was a turning point, providing another unexpected answer: ”Don’t tell my cousin it was me who said it... Anyway, it was my sister who arranged it, she was divining in the dorm late at night, keeping me up half the night, but she indeed didn’t do it... it was all Li Neng’s action!”

Li Neng?

That furry dog playing bear?

An image of a small furry bear sitting on a warlock’s neck, waving its soft ’bear paws’ and beating up the wizard, flashed through Zheng Qing’s mind.

He couldn’t help but shake his head vigorously, trying to dispel the slightly comical scene.

”Don’t underestimate stuffed animals! It’s very capable!” The little witch, seemingly detecting the disbelief in the warlock’s eyes, unhappily waved her signed book.

”No, no, no, I didn’t mean it that way.” The young cost student waved his hands repeatedly, glanced at the direction of the office building, and tentatively said: ”But if I remember correctly, the school should prohibit students from bringing such dangerous magical creatures?”

”Does Li Neng count as a ’creature’?” The little witch’s eyes flashed with cunning, confidently retorting.

Zheng Qing hesitated a bit: ”...puppets made with witchcraft are also not allowed on campus, right?”

”It’s ’puppets made with Dark Magic’.” Li Meng looked at the boy with disdain: ”And yet you’re a cost student, don’t you pay attention to the notes on the book list every year? Don’t you also keep a group of sprites? If the school didn’t allow students to bring puppets, why aren’t those sprites confiscated?”

Whether sprites are considered creatures or puppets is a very complex topic, and Zheng Qing did not intend to debate it with the student in front of him at this moment.

He pulled out his pocket watch and checked the time.

Since he already knew the truth, there was no need to listen to this ’little bee’ in front of him continue to sting him.

Before leaving, he looked at Li Meng, who was happily stroking the book, couldn’t resist asking curiously: ”I remember you’re good with Su Ya, didn’t you ask her to help ’bring’ a few handkerchiefs out from the mansion?”

”Of course, I asked her for help.”

Li Meng rarely showed a trace of regret on her face: ”Su Ya helped me ’bring’ out five... but unfortunately, she was found by the head maid of the mansion, got beaten half to death, and then she refused to bring any more... don’t tell my cousin about this! If you blabber, I’ll tell her you asked me to help steal her...”

Before she finished, Zheng Qing quickly made a pulling-lock motion at his mouth, while silently mourning for poor Su Ya in his heart for a second.

Li Meng nodded contently, retracting her last few words.

”As long as you don’t blabber, I’ll let you see my collection.” Saying this, she opened her small backpack, took out a palm-sized mahogany box from the bottom of the bag’s compartment, then took off the key from her neck, unlocked the brass lock on the mahogany box, opened the lid, revealing five neatly stacked blue handkerchiefs, surrounded by a circle of colorful petals.

Indeed a treasure.

Zheng Qing ridiculed in his heart, while feeling it a bit strange to be here with Li Meng secretly looking at several handkerchiefs, couldn’t refrain but remind: ”Alright, alright, quickly put it away, be careful not to let bugs from the trees fall in... I absolutely won’t say anything.”

Li Meng cupped her hands, concealing her little wooden box, looked up warily at the dry yellow canopy overhead.

Then nodded cautiously, carefully tucking the box back into the deepest part of her backpack.

”Ah, if I had two more, I could fold a Seven-Color Flower with these handkerchiefs!” The little witch said wistfully, tapping her backpack, blinkingly looking at Zheng Qing: ”...Don’t you want to ask me another question?”

Saying this, she gritted her teeth as if making a major sacrifice: ”Even if you want my cousin’s...”

”Want what of mine?”

A cool voice suddenly came from behind the two.

Li Meng’s hand trembled, almost dropping the backpack to the ground; Zheng Qing wasn’t much better off, his face instantly turned pale, mentally cursing himself for not having asked the question and slipped away earlier.

Turning back, Jiang Yu was looking at them curiously.

”Want your schedule!” The young cost student never felt his mind so clear, replied at lightning speed: ”Now it’s the end of November, early December will be Winter Hunting, I thought to get everyone’s schedule first, adjust the Hunting Team Training plan to avoid conflicting with other schedules and not affect everyone’s final exam review plan!”

He delivered the sentence in one breath without pausing, feeling a bit exhausted afterward.

Li Meng secretly gave him a thumbs up where Jiang Yu couldn’t see, then turned it upside down into an extremely disdainful gesture.

Zheng Qing pretended not to notice, just looking earnestly at Jiang Yu.
