High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2106: Chapter 327: Grudges

”A small matter?”

Old Yao took the pipe from his mouth, glanced at the Great Diviner beside him, and snorted with displeasure, ”Even the smallest accident, multiplied by a large enough number, can become a great catastrophe. A dike a thousand miles long can collapse from an ant hole—isn’t that the point? Imagine if everyone in the world threw a grain of rice at you, how deep do you think you’d be buried?”

Professor Yi calculated seriously for a moment.

”Assuming there are twenty thousand grains of rice in a pound, then ten billion people would mean fifty thousand pounds,” he nodded slightly. ”Looking at it this way... that’s indeed a bit suffocating for an ordinary child.”

The head of Jiuyou Academy exhaled a thick cloud of smoke, his gaze settling once more on the window of room 403: ”The Qingqiu Su Family is known for their enchantments, and that pretty Su family’s girl became a Big Wizard at such a young age, with fervent fans spread across the new and old worlds alike... If it weren’t for being at the First University, I dare bet on the first day that report came out, Zheng would have been overwhelmed by the resentment coming from all over the world.”

”Destiny, it’s all destiny.”

Professor Yi chuckled, ”I’m somewhat curious, who hinted to him to use the Transformation tonight... Although the theory of transforming to avoid calamity is what I taught him... but given his level, under such circumstances, one would expect him to act more irrationally... There’s no reason for him to suddenly become so clever.”

”Weren’t you always saying the web of destiny is exceptionally intricate?”

Old Yao didn’t directly answer Professor Yi’s question, but instead put the pipe back in his mouth and took a deep drag, ”Instead of wondering if destiny really favors him, it might be better to find time to figure out why that report came out at such a critical moment... Logically speaking, the old folks who know about this shouldn’t be stirring up these useless actions.”

Professor Yi shook his head slightly, ”There’s no evidence to suggest any external intervention in this incident... As you said just now, the web of destiny is exceptionally intricate... many coincidences are inherently inevitable.”

In the distance, the green halo in the window suddenly condensed.

The dormitory room 403 fell back into darkness.

The professor’s gaze fell on an Elder Wizard on the other side who was constantly monitoring the situation inside the dormitory: ”Old Qian, how are the kids in there doing now?”

”Not much of an issue.”

The wizard referred to as Old Li quickly scribbled on the form he held with a feather pen, speaking lightly, ”If the resentment surrounding student Zheng Qing was Lin Zhong Lake, then the resentment spawned by student Zheng Qing due to being stabbed by a little person is just a drop of water... After chewing through three sacrifices, the negative impact of the resentment has basically been eliminated... It won’t affect the kids’ futures.”

”Let’s hope so.” Old Yao pouted, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.

The night was hazy.

Unknown how long it took, these figures in black robes slowly merged into the deep background, from start to finish never disturbing the stillness of this world in the slightest.

...

...

Zheng Qing naturally didn’t know about the observers outside the window.

He had no mind to worry about the affairs outside the window either.

After chewing through the ’traitors,’ the young cost student only felt a sense of exhilaration, as if brushing away the dust that had long weighed on his heart, giving him a refreshing feeling from the inside out.

Then he realized his handling of the situation was somewhat inappropriate.

As they say, killing someone is just a point at the earth—even if some of them were ’traitors,’ biting them a few times like this was a bit too feline.

Yes, too ’feline’!

The young cost student finally found a reason that wasn’t really a reason for his actions—the one who bit them was the Black Cat, what did it have to do with him!

He took a deep breath, the blood smell in the room had already been completely cleared by magic, and a pleasant light floral fragrance hung in the air.

The dormitory lights were all out.

Zheng Qing lay in his tent, eyes open, staring at the pitch-black patterns on the tent, listening carefully for any movements from the others.

He would bet the others weren’t asleep either—after all, being chewed on by a cat for half a day is hard to forget immediately.

”Ahem.”

The young cost student gave a light cough, and instantly, rustling sounds came from the other three beds, with faint hints that someone had already opened a Law book.

”The one who bit you just now was the Black Cat, it has nothing to do with me.”

Zheng Qing said this, relying on his thick skin in the cover of night, grateful that aside from the night and his thick skin, there was also a heavy curtain blocking the view, preventing anyone from seeing his guilt.

He could already imagine the Fat Wizard’s shocked expression, and how the Doctor adjusted his glasses.

”It’s fine, it’s within the realm of possibility.” Xiao Xiao’s calm voice was as usual, as if he wasn’t the wizard covered in bites earlier.

Zheng Qing was overjoyed.

Since the Doctor was willing to talk, that meant he wasn’t angry!

”I didn’t know the Transformation had such side effects,” the young cost student immediately spoke, as if talking to himself, yet defending himself: ”Besides, today is the full moon, such a special day could likely interfere with the transformation...”

”Tonight is the fourteenth day of the lunar month, not the full moon... though there’s already some full moon effect.” Dylan sighed weakly from his coffin, ”If I hadn’t taken medicine...”

Zheng Qing suddenly understood, no wonder Dylan was at the dorm tonight, and before and after being bitten, this Blood Werewolf seemed listless, exhibiting symptoms of world-weariness.

”Come to think of it, how could you guys be doing that sort of thing behind my back?” The young cost student turned the topic, ”And using D&K to sell straw men!”

”Didn’t you burn it yourself too?” The Fat Wizard’s disgruntled voice sounded. He finally confirmed that the cat he saw on the tree during the parade was real.

Zheng Qing was speechless.

After a moment of silence in the dormitory, the voice of the Atonement Hunting Team’s Diviner slowly sounded: ”Today’s incident isn’t anyone’s fault, not yours either... After the report came out in the Horn Bulletin, the resentment of the zealots must be vented, otherwise, if accumulated, it could lead to more serious and terrible consequences.”

”Is it really that bad?” Zheng Qing was honestly surprised.

”Very bad... Resentment is a very terrible negative energy.” Xiao Xiao explained simply: ”In occultism, it’s typically referred to as negative magic power, but in dimensional studies, resentment can be understood as a virtual dimension line with emotional logic... If a wizard falls on this line, without escaping quickly, they’ll slowly lose their vitality like a bug caught in a spiderweb.”

Xin Fat Man added, ”And the effect of time on resentment is highly uncertain. Sometimes time dilutes resentment, but sometimes the longer the time, the stronger the resentment... We shouldn’t pin our hopes on such uncertainties.”

”But isn’t burning so many little people unnecessary?” The young cost student muttered.

”Of course, the Invisibility Talisman is just a temporary solution, not a permanent one.” The Blood Werewolf chuckled from his coffin, ”But I believe you wouldn’t want to be a transparent person for the rest of your life, living in a corner where no one can see you.”
