High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2133: Chapter 254: Misunderstanding

”Twice a week, for wizards your age, that’s somewhat frequent.”

Although Professor Montreya clearly instructed ’Zheng Qing’s friend’ to go to the school hospital, he didn’t walk away immediately. He continued listening to the young wizard’s description, his expression as stern as ever: ”Of course, if your magical foundation is strong...”

As he spoke, he scrutinized Zheng Qing from head to toe and added, ”For example, you, or Tang Dun, Xiao Xiao, Jiang Yu from your class, twice a week is still acceptable... unless your friend transforms more than three times a week.”

When talking about ’your friend,’ the professor’s lips curled slightly, revealing a trace of knowing and sarcastic smile. But Zheng Qing couldn’t sense the mockery right now, only feeling a deep bitterness in his heart.

Because recently, he wasn’t transforming twice or thrice a week, but almost every day for nearly ten days.

The magical zoology teacher tried to lighten the mood with a cheerful tone and slightly changed the topic: ”What animal does your transformation— I mean, your friend’s transformation—take the form of?”

This kind of question touches on privacy, and typically, people don’t enquire so directly. But similar to a patient seeking treatment at a hospital, where they might even accept being asked to expose themselves for diagnosis, privacy is hardly a concern here.

At such a time, who still cares about privacy?

So, the young cost student hesitated only slightly and decisively answered, ”A dog... a gray-skinned dog, short-haired, short-snouted, flat forehead, curly money tail... not sure what breed.”

In his mind, he imagined the Furry Bean and the big Yellow Dog at his grandma’s house, using his hands for emphasis, striving to make his description seem more genuine and realistic.

Teacher Gan Ning smiled lightly, not at all concerned with the boy’s attempts at brainstorming: ”Dogs are good... I mean, as a widely existing species of Chordata, Mammalia, Carnivora, at least your friend won’t have to worry about growing two gills behind his jaw in broad daylight or his belly suddenly bulging with differently colored offspring...”

Zheng Qing forced two dry laughs in agreement.

Though he couldn’t find this matter amusing at all.

”...Under normal circumstances, most transformation aftermaths don’t involve special capabilities of the creature.” The magical zoology teacher’s expression grew slightly serious: ”For example, your friend, when he transforms into a dog and then returns to human form, might retain behaviors like panting, sniffing, circling his bed before sleeping, or even urinating near the dormitory for a short period... These behaviors are related to the nature of dogs, belonging to a shallow level of biological consciousness interference... This interference is mutual. In therapy, there’s a ’Cognitive Barrier Syndrome’ associated with it... but your friend’s situation far exceeds the extent of ’shallow interference’... transferring innate abilities belonging to ’dogs’ to humans is already at a level of deep or even severe interference at the level of magical consciousness... In terms you can understand, these aftermaths resemble a form of ’magic power intoxication.’”

”So I can try using detoxification magic medicine?”

Recalling the formula for that Moonlight Magic Essential Oil, Zheng Qing felt a sense of sudden realization—like the Black-cheeked Fish Oil with its magical blocking effect, Water Myrtle for detoxification, Moonflower for exorcism, and Passionfruit for anti-inflammation, etc. The herbs used in this formula practically coincide with the effects needed to alleviate ’magic power intoxication.’

”The connection between transformation aftermaths and magic power intoxication is merely one perspective, not absolutely correct.” Professor Montreya frowned, sternly looking at the young wizard: ”In emergencies, standard antidotes can be used as a response, but remember, medicine has its side effects—your friend’s situation should seek a professional therapist.”

”But overall, transformation magical aftermaths are a type of relatively controllable magic harm with lesser harm to wizards,” the magical zoology teacher ignored Professor Montreya’s ever-tensing brows and soothingly patted Zheng Qing’s shoulder: ”You can reassure your friend—have meals properly, drink properly, don’t take things to heart... and transform into a dog less often and roam around.”

The young cost student nodded repeatedly in agreement.

Meanwhile, he also noticed Professor Montreya’s increasingly grim expression, realizing the situation wasn’t good, he gave thanks repeatedly and then made a hasty retreat, disappearing swiftly.

Watching the boy’s silhouette vanish at the end of the corridor, when nobody was around, the professor finally showed a stern face and reprimanded the young teacher beside him: ”He fools around, and you follow suit ignorantly giving advice? What’s this about ’relatively controllable impact’ and ’lesser harm’? Without professional therapist diagnosis, how dare you make such judgments?”

The round-faced teacher repeatedly made bowing gestures, appearing as though pleading for mercy.

”Oh my dear professor,” he chuckled, showing no restraint typical of a low-tier teacher faced with a high-tier professor: ”I absolutely don’t believe you didn’t realize, the ’friend’ Zheng Qing mentioned is himself... that boy’s eyes were darting everywhere and he was spouting nonsense. I dare bet his transformation form is not even a dog... uh, maybe it’s a fox!”

As he spoke, the magical zoology teacher’s eyes lit up, slamming his fist into his palm, revealing a look of sudden understanding: ”...No wonder Su Councilor managed to have a child with him... With that kind of bold-faced lying and combined with the ’innate advantage’ of transforming into a fox, fooling our naive Su Councilor is way too easy!... This also explains why he’s recently experiencing transformation aftermaths, he must have been transforming frequently to visit Su Councilor! Tsk, simply outrageous!”

This logic is undeniably coherent.

Professor Montreya also seriously pondered for a moment, nodding slightly. But turning his head, he still stubbornly and strictly denied Teacher Gan Ning’s behavior: ”Regardless of the situation, you shouldn’t encourage his fooling around!”

”How is it encouragement of fooling around!”

The magical zoology teacher protested repeatedly: ”You saw it too, Zheng Qing is full of stable magic power, with a flushed face and even breath. Though there’s a slight sign of magic power intoxication, it’s very mild. And I smelled a strong scent of magic potion on him—if I’m not mistaken, it should be Moonlight Magic Essential Oil... In this case, letting him transform less and roam less is the best treatment—no need to specifically seek a therapist, and I never said he shouldn’t seek a therapist either...”

Professor Montreya chuckled coldly, shaking his head, and only after confirming nobody was around again, interrupted the young teacher’s continuous self-defense: ”Enough talk... I should have reminded you, don’t casually come to me during work hours! What’s happened?”
