High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2115: Chapter 236: First Gentleman

”Wipe your mouth before you speak.”

Su Shijun, holding a corner of a green handkerchief, approached the black cat’s mouth, looking as if he were about to clean it prudently.

The black cat had to tilt its head back fiercely to maintain its current serious expression. At the same time, it raised a paw to stop the approaching handkerchief: ”Wait... wait... I’m saying we should discuss how to deal with the current situation!”

”What situation?” The owner of Greenhill Mansion, finally satisfied, wiped the cat’s mouth and then casually threw the handkerchief aside before lazily asking.

”It’s just, just... about public opinion, personal safety, and things like that, you should understand!”

The black cat lifted its paw to wipe its mouth again, pulling its ears and wrinkling its face, trying hard to sound more serious: ”According to relevant data statistics, last week I suffered the largest scale campus and off-campus curse attack recorded at First University... they even held grand protest marches!”

”Where did this ’relevant data’ come from?” The witch finally showed a hint of interest on her face, leaning forward, scaring the black cat to shrink back again.

”Da... Data... Is that the point?!”

As the black cat stabilized itself, it finally remembered its original line of questioning: ”Isn’t the point my personal safety after that report was published?!”

”You are a cat, not a person.” The witch responded with an amused smile.

The black cat flattened its ears, striving to ignore everything said by the person facing it, even closing its eyes, solely to fluently finish its lines: ”Do you know how I got through this week? Wearing an invisibility talisman to class every day! Can’t go to the library, can’t go to the cafeteria, can’t even say hello to others! Before going to bed at night, I have to stuff enough nightmare dolls and amulets under the pillow! When I wake up, those dolls’ heads have fallen off one by one!”

The big fox chuckled.

”This is not a joke!”

The black cat finally found the right rhythm, reopening its eyes with a severe expression on its face: ”They really want to burn me!... I’m only in my second year! I still have two years to stay at school! I can’t keep hiding under an invisibility talisman to attend classes from now on... I don’t even remember the last time I answered a question in class or greeted a wizard outside of my roommates... Get your tail away! We’re discussing something very serious!”

It roared, unable to bear it anymore.

As it was speaking passionately, several fluffy tails slid out from beneath the witch, spread silently on the sofa like a furry green carpet. The well-groomed tail tips quivered flirtatiously right in the black cat’s line of sight.

The black cat couldn’t help but clench the air with its paw.

”Relax, relax, it’s no big deal.” The owner of Greenhill Mansion lounged on the sofa, twirling a lock of her hair around her finger, and then raised three fingers lazily: ”I have three solutions here...”

”Three!”

Upon hearing this, the black cat was invigorated, sitting even more upright.

”First, you’re a grown cat now, just admit you have kids, what’s the big deal with some fleeting affection? At most, change your name and move to the New World, who knows, maybe in three to five years you’ll become a Big Wizard, then who would dare trouble you?”

The black cat, with a dark face, waved its paw, immediately dismissing this plan.

It didn’t even bother to explain why.

The big fox cheerfully flicked its tail tip: ”Second, do nothing, time is the best remedy for this kind of gossip. The world is so big, with countless fresh stories every day... people won’t always keep their attention on you.”

Hearing this, the black cat was slightly moved in its heart.

”I’ve always felt there’s been a lot going on recently,” it pondered carefully, looking cautiously at the witch: ”like the Moon Council admitting the Mouse People, the Super Hunter Team Hydra, and the Dark Council... are these things related to you?”

The big fox pushed up its glasses with a smiling face.

Terrified, the black cat immediately closed its eyes.

Her cheerful voice reached its ears: ”...The biggest problem with the second plan is that it takes too long, it may take weeks, or even months to work. Of course, the effects are excellent. As for the third plan...”

The black cat heard the rustling of parchment.

It cautiously opened its eyes, only to see the witch tossing the stack of documents she had been browsing in front of it: ”A bit unorthodox, since the public pressure is focused on you, to reduce everyone’s aversion to you, why not switch perspectives and find a group of trumpeters to praise you a little more highly.”

The black cat twitched its ears.

”What the hell is this ’First Gentleman’ nonsense?” Looking at the words on the parchment, its head spun slightly, its voice becoming somewhat choked.

”Oh, since I am the number one beauty in the wizard world, naturally my husband has to be the First Gentleman of the wizard world.” The big fox arrogantly raised her chin and then batted her eyes: ”Or do you think it should be more symmetrical, hmm, ’Little First Gentleman’?”

The black cat opened its mouth, wanting to curse but not daring to, so it could only extend its claws, grasping at the sofa beneath it. But even though the sofa was soft, it was surprisingly sturdy, and despite the black cat exerting itself with all its might, it couldn’t leave a scratch on the surface.

”Actually, I agree the title feels a bit outdated.” The owner of Greenhill Mansion changed her tone: ”Ms. Pulitzer also offered two other options at the time, ’Prince of Jiuyou’ and ’Young Master of Green Hills’... which do you think sounds better?”

The black cat had no strength left to mock these awful choices.

”Ms. Pulitzer?” It tried to find some slightly familiar concept among the jumble of words it didn’t understand.

”A senior editor and writer at the Beta Town Post, a very renowned and professional public relations person within the Mage Alliance.” The owner of Greenhill Mansion explained.

”Very professional indeed.” The black cat, recalling its past experiences, muttered, finally giving up on discussing its safety issues with this fox.

It flicked its tail, leapt onto the window with a jump.

”Eh? Leaving already?” The beauty on the sofa propped herself up, looking surprised: ”You didn’t even look at the children! If those tabloid reporters find out...”

The black cat ignored her antics.

However, when mentioning tabloid reporters, it did recall something else.

”I mean, your fencing is way too loose,” it raised a paw, gesturing the distance between two planks on the mansion’s fence, with a serious face: ”I’m such a big cat, slipped through easily... Not even those Flower Sprites or Grass Spirits outside can stop it, how can you expect it to keep out tabloid reporters?”

The big fox on the sofa rolled her eyes gracefully.

The head maid of the mansion, Su Man, stepped forward, softly explaining: ”Greenhill Mansion is covered by very powerful guardian magic. Uninvited guests can’t get in, and can’t even find the location of the mansion... Just like those tabloid reporters, who can only block near the street where the mansion is located.”

Hearing this, the black cat’s expression turned awkward. It flicked its tail, silently squeezing out through the fence, and disappeared into the night.
