High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2114: Chapter 235: Su Shijun’s Attitude

Leaving the Cat Fruit Tree, the Black Cat didn’t go straight back to the dormitory but instead took a detour to sneak out of the academy, making its way to the Greenhill Mansion via the West District of Beta Town.

Fortunately, this time, he finally cornered Councillor Su.

When he crossed the creek, squeezed through the wide fence, and passed through the exquisite little garden outside the mansion, arriving in front of the red-tiled white-walled attic, the owner of the mansion was lazily curled up on the sofa, flipping through a thick stack of documents. The milky white light fell around her, making every movement of the witch radiate a physical glow, mesmerizing those who saw her.

Su Ya was the first to notice the uninvited guest in the garden.

”Black Cat!”

The little fox lady’s furry ears suddenly perked up, and the big tail behind her was so startled that it slipped out of her skirt, screaming as if discovering a New Continent, she dropped the rag in her hand and rushed inside excitedly to report: ”That Black Cat has sneaked into the garden again! It looks sneaky, like it wants to catch and eat our Flower Sprites...do you want me to drive it out?”

Su Man, the head housemaid standing in the corner of the room, pinched the little fox lady’s collar with two fingers, lifted her up, and tossed her out of the living room: ”Even if there’s a cat, it has nothing to do with you. Keep mopping the floor...when you remember your Qingqiu Su Family identity, understanding what is dignified and graceful, only then consider catching the cat again!”

Su Ya plopped down on the ground, teary-eyed, slowly resumed mopping the floor — ever since participating in that parade last Saturday, she had been confined by the head maid for nearly a week! Every day was nothing but mopping the floor, as if nothing else existed in this world apart from the floor.

”Your tail is sticking out!” came the stern voice of the head maid.

The fluffy big tail under the skirt quickly retracted, and at the same time, without waiting for the head maid’s reminder, the pair of perked ears on her head deftly tucked back under her hair.

The Black Cat coldly watched the unlucky little fox lady, feeling not a trace of regret in his heart.

Of course, seeing Su Ya in misfortune wasn’t his primary purpose for coming tonight — he had watched this little girl mop the floor every day for the past week, and was already used to the scene — the big fox sitting in the living room was his real target tonight.

Thinking of this, the Black Cat leapt deftly, jumping onto the wide open window, eyeing the mansion owner on the sofa menacingly, pressing down its tail, sharpening its claws threateningly.

Su Shijun seemed oblivious, merely taking off the large red glasses from her face, tilting her head, tucking a few strands of hair falling on her cheeks behind her ears, revealing a stretch of fair neck.

Captivating both humans and cats.

The Black Cat immediately forgot all its accumulated anger, forgot the tirade it had rehearsed multiple times, and even forgot the primary purpose of its visit tonight, as if it were a real cat, obediently crouching at the other end of the sofa, tucking its paws, and comfortably started purring.

The witch’s lips curved slightly, continuing to peruse the material in her hands.

Su Man, the head maid, found nothing strange about it, merely serving the new guest a glass of clear water and a plate of golden-fried small fish snacks, then silently returned to the corner of the living room, never uttering a word from beginning to end.

The porcelain plate holding the fish snacks was lined with a layer of crispy catnip, also fried in oil, enveloping the entire snack plate in a Nepetalactone aroma that delights cats, with sliced lemon garnishing the plate, further enhancing the alluring scent of oil.

And all this was no match for the glowing figure sitting at the end of the sofa.

The Black Cat’s purring grew ever more melodious.

Until the owner of Greenhill Mansion put her glasses back on.

The Black Cat was stunned for a moment before coming back to its senses, a trace of embarrassment flashing across its face, wanting to question but having lost its original momentum, could only dryly say:

”Where have you been all this time?”

As soon as the words fell, it sensed something off — originally it wanted to question the witch on why, after such a major incident, Greenhill Mansion only issued a few tepid notices while she herself went into hiding, leaving it alone to bear the onslaught of overwhelming public opinion and real pressures.

But that last question inexplicably had a strange feeling, like the garnish on the plate of fish snacks before him, subtly revealing a slight sourness.

”I mean, I came to the mansion a few times looking for you but couldn’t find you!” the Black Cat hastily added harshly, trying to compensate for the weakness in the previous sentence.

”Want to try it? It’s delicious.”

Su Shijun leaned towards the Black Cat, picking a small fish snack from the plate, nibbling a small bite, then stuffing the rest into the cat’s mouth: ”...this is a specialty little silver fish from the depths of Uubos Lake, supposedly Nom Quya’s favorite delicacy, tasting dreamy...it’s very expensive!”

Uubos Lake is located beneath the Illusionary Dream Moon, and Nom Quya is an ancient legend living in the lake — either of these adds to the hype around the plate of fish snacks.

The Black Cat couldn’t help but chew, indeed, it was tantalizingly fragrant.

Then he stiffened, feeling a hand pressing on his head, stroking down his neck bit by bit, the enchanting aroma surging from all directions, overwhelming every pore, making him momentarily unable to distinguish whether the scent came from the fish in his mouth or the jade hand on his back.

After the big fox stroked the cat a few times, she pleasantly patted the cat’s head: ”What do you need me for?”

The Black Cat opened its mouth.

After several attempts, it finally squeezed out a sound from its throat: ”You... I... didn’t you see that report in the Herald? Greenhill Mansion even partnered with Xiao Xiao to sell scarecrows! My scarecrows!”

Its voice was hoarse and sharp, like a deflating balloon. But those last four words seemed to help it find its tangible anchor and questioning courage, clearing its mind considerably.

Su Shijun raised a scallion-like finger, waving it in front of the Black Cat, smiling: ”Who is Xiao Xiao, I don’t know... who I’m collaborating with is Student Jiang Yu from the Absolution Hunting Team... isn’t she your class monitor? You two should be very familiar, poor Poseidon, not yet an adult, having to face his father’s infidelity and his mother’s desolate ordeal.”

She whimsically wiped the corner of her eye.

The rationality the Black Cat had just recovered was shattered once more.

This fox!

It gritted its teeth, staring at the owner of Greenhill Mansion in front of it, suddenly feeling discouraged — couldn’t win in a fight, didn’t have more money, and worse, even if playing pitiful wouldn’t work!

She only needed to shed tears in public, and the pressure it’s currently bearing would explode, blowing it to smithereens. It had every reason to believe that by then, a few seemingly ’very reliable’ roommates would be the first to turn on it!

No salvation, just lie flat and wait for death.

The Black Cat tilted its head back, swallowing the mushy fish snack in its mouth, then licked a few sips of clear water to rinse its mouth, sitting upright before the big fox.
