High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2107: Chapter 328: Please Give Me a Frog

The Saturday night discussions in dorm room 403 went on for a long, long time.

Zheng Qing told his companions about tonight’s Seven Sins assessment, and the wizard wearing a raven mask who appeared in the parade; Xiao Xiao spoke about the difficulties encountered while planning the parade; Xin Fat Man analyzed the recent newspaper reports and the mood on campus; Dylan reported on some voices inside the Moon Council.

Zheng Qing couldn’t remember when the night talk ended.

He had a good night’s sleep for the first time in a while.

When he opened his eyes in the morning and reached for the bedside, he was shocked to find he had forgotten to set out his Nightmare Doll and Amulet last night.

Then suddenly, he realized he hadn’t had any nightmares last night!

”That’s right.”

During his morning exercises—an unusual situation these days, as he had been doing his exercises on the balcony—Xiao Xiao and the young cost student analyzed: ”Last night’s parade let everyone who needed to vent, wanted to vent, or could vent, release everything... so for a while, no one will be making trouble for you.”

Then he noticed Zheng Qing’s eager expression and immediately added, ”But you still need to wear the Invisibility Talisman for a while... this week is crucial, the divination results suggest this storm will gradually subside... at least until next weekend, you have to keep a low profile like now.”

Hearing this, Zheng Qing sighed with a hint of disappointment, glanced one last time at the laughing crowd outside the window, and retreated from the balcony back into the dorm.

At the desk, Doctor Xiao was holding a feather pen, sketching on a piece of parchment.

”What are you doing?” The young cost student noticed the chaotic numbers on the parchment, which didn’t seem to be divination related.

”Accounting.”

Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses and replied leisurely, ”Last week, the shop sold a total of 3,165 scarecrows, after deducting taxes, the total operating income is 500 gold beans... then after deducting the cost of making the scarecrows, the net profit is 400 gold beans... of which, Greenhill Mansion gets a fifty percent profit share...”

”Wait.”

Feeling increasingly uneasy, Zheng Qing finally couldn’t help but interrupt, ”Why does Greenhill Mansion have a profit share? Why give them such a high share!”

”Isn’t Greenhill Mansion’s share your share?” Came the sour voice of the fat wizard from behind: ”Or do you want to fudge the accounts and build a little gold stash?”

Zheng Qing ignored the crazy fat man.

Xiao Xiao tilted his head and looked at him: ”Oh, I haven’t had time to tell you about this yet. The scarecrow business is a collaboration between our shop and Greenhill Mansion, otherwise, with just our network and production capacity, we couldn’t possibly provide thousands of scarecrows in such a short time... so, according to the previous agreement, half of the net profit from this scarecrow sale belongs to Greenhill Mansion.”

Then he lowered his head again, continuing to scribble on the parchment: ”Hmm, just from this alone, the shop’s profit increased by 200 gold beans, and each of the ten members of the Forgiveness Knight Order gets a share of 20 gold beans... neither a lot nor a little. It’s much faster than earning by writing assignments for people.”

”As for you,” after finishing his calculations, Doctor Xiao nodded slightly: ”You should get 50 gold beans this time... are you going to roll this gold into the shop’s capital reserve or take it out to use?”

Fifty gold beans equaled five jade coins, which was equivalent to half a year’s scholarship for a cost student.

Zheng Qing, numb yet curious, asked, ”Isn’t it 20 gold beans per person? Why is there an extra 30? Whose share is this?”

”It’s nobody’s share for you. The extra 30 beans are part of the cost expenditure... your authorization earnings.” While talking, Doctor Xiao pulled out a few pieces of parchment from the drawer: ”Here... this business was led by Greenhill Mansion and the Monitor, I gave some ideas, Fat Man, Dylan, the Elders, and others assisted... and you were responsible for providing the authorizations.”

Authorizations.

Flipping through the parchment in front of him, Zheng Qing felt he could no longer be surprised—within these documents, he had authorized D&K to use his name to make scarecrows, approved a partnership between D&K and Greenhill Mansion, granted Hank the rights for accounting, tax filing, and signing supply contracts, and so forth.

Looking at the familiar signatures on the parchment, Zheng Qing was greatly taken aback. The authorizations were originally for him to give his companions to pick up letters on his behalf at the office, but they ended up using them for all sorts of odd purposes.

”Is there anything else you’re hiding from me?” The young cost student shook the parchment in his hand, looking deeply at the short male warlock in front of him.

”There shouldn’t be for now,” Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses, expressionless: ”But what about you... is there anything else you’re hiding from us?”

Zheng Qing held out his finger and scratched his ear, laughing off the topic.

There was a rustling sound behind him.

Turning around, Xin Fat Man was struggling to put on a robe.

”Why are you up so early today!” Zheng Qing took out his pocket watch, glanced at the time, and was surprised to see it wasn’t even 7:30 in the morning: ”At this time, you usually would still be asleep in class!”

The fat man huffed as he put on his robe: ”Didn’t the doctor say the accounts are clear? I’m going to the store to collect my dividends... 20 gold beans! Are you guys going?”

Zheng Qing hesitated for only a second.

”Let’s go, let’s go.”

He skillfully slapped an invisibility talisman onto himself.

The campus was unusually quiet on the weekend morning, the previous night’s celebration had drained too much of everyone’s energy that Zheng Qing felt a pang of regret for wasting an invisibility talisman as he walked down the street.

But by the time they collected their money and returned to school, there were noticeably more pedestrians on the street.

Zheng Qing walked cautiously between Xiao Xiao and Xin Fat Man, wearing a new invisibility talisman, carefully observing the young wizards passing by.

Each one was polite and well-mannered, as if the scenes of screaming and burning scarecrows he saw the previous night were all a delusion.

”Masks are really something,” the young cost student thought to himself, murmuring.

With a mask on, everyone could freely vent their emotions and join in the festive celebration; when they removed their masks, everyone was a polite and civilized person again.

”What’s Nicolas up to?” The curious voice of the fat wizard interrupted his thoughts.

Coming back to his senses, the three were already standing in front of a narrow street-side table, with Nicolas and several unfamiliar wizards behind it, beside them was a large pop-up banner with the words ’Please Give Me a Frog’.

Seeing his classmates, the ponytailed warlock seemed to want to hide, but immediately, he gritted his teeth and stepped out from behind the table, holding a petition in his hand.

”Please pay attention to the living conditions of the Northern District Wizards,” he spoke earnestly, as if not recognizing any of them, ”Northern District Wizards are also members of the Alliance, but Northern District Wizards have not been granted the appropriate magical education rights... ’Please Give Me a Frog’, is to give voice to the younger Northern District Wizards, the Northern District needs everyone’s support!”
