High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2108: Chapter 329: Coward and Wimp

Northern District wizards lack general education.

Zheng Qing had known this for a long time—back when Northern District wizards first emerged, he visited Korma and, after sitting in the small tavern downstairs for just a short while, witnessed over a dozen Northern District wizards seeking help from the Sage due to uncontrolled magic.

The Northern District wizards wanted the same educational rights as other wizards, and Zheng Qing was aware of this too.

Since the day they were first created, there have been voices proposing that the First University grant Northern District wizards the same kind of ’special recruitment rights’ as Gypsy witches, allowing them to integrate into the mainstream world of the Mage Alliance more quickly and quietly.

But the world has never been a place where ’lack’ and ’want’ can easily yield results.

Similar ’groups’ to the Northern District wizards exist on Buji Island, such as the Horseman Tribe of Silent Forest, the Fishman Tribe of Lin Zhong Lake, and even the recently emerged Mouse Clan, and they all have similar demands. Yet, First University stands alone, and its teaching resources cannot support the ’specialization’ of all these groups.

Moreover, whether Northern District wizards, Horsemen, Fishmen, or others, their talents are not particularly outstanding.

An obvious voice of opposition in the Alliance points out that the resources used to train a Fishman mage or Northern District wizard could train several ordinary wizards. If the roster really needs expansion, why shouldn’t the First University allocate resources to more ordinary-talented wizards?

So, to this day, there has been no consensus on the training program for Northern District wizards.

”Are you planning to take a bottom-up approach?”

Xin Fat Man flipped through the Northern District wizards’ petitions, shaking his head, clearly not optimistic about their thinking: ”The school won’t change its longstanding policy because of a few young people’s petitions... The school’s attitude is commendably cautious, but frankly, it’s just that no one wants to take responsibility!”

As someone who once researched in the North Beita Town district for an entire summer and wrote a comprehensive investigative report, the Fat Wizard’s opinion was valued by the Northern District wizards.

Nicholas’s expression darkened.

”We can’t just do nothing and hope those high-up gentlemen in the Alliance will suddenly be benevolent.” He forced a smile, handing over the feather pen: ”...The Northern District wizards need your support.”

Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses, took the feather pen, and signed his name with ease.

As the Fat Wizard signed, he sighed with a sense of reflection: ”Indeed, right now you can’t do nothing, but you also can’t do too much to trigger a chain reaction... Just stirring up some public opinion agitation and providing more buffers for both sides should suffice.”

Saying this, he skillfully passed the feather pen between him and Xiao Xiao.

Then the feather pen floated in mid-air.

Nicholas looked at the feather pen with a bizarre expression, glanced around to see no one noticing, then used his mouth to silently ask: ”Is it Zheng Qing?”

The Fat Wizard nodded vigorously.

Nicholas quickly grabbed back his own petition, offering a slightly apologetic smile toward the empty space between Xiao Xiao and Xin Fat Man: ”We’re petitioning to garner public support, not a public backlash... If your name is on the petition, it could be counterproductive... so...”

His tone was a bit vague, but the meaning was very clear.

Xin Fat Man burst into laughter, giving Nicholas a thumbs up.

...

...

By the evening’s class meeting, Zheng Qing was still brooding over the morning’s encounter.

”Nicholas didn’t do anything wrong,” the Fat Wizard muttered while chewing on a beef jerky, ”In your current situation, it actually isn’t appropriate to sign that name.”

Zheng Qing’s face grew darker.

”It’s precisely because I know he’s not wrong that it’s all the more infuriating!” The young cost student took a deep breath, raising his hand skyward: ”Bugle Newspaper, I’ll remember you!”

”What good is remembering it going to do?” The Fat Wizard shrugged, suddenly coughing heavily.

Zheng Qing quickly pulled out an invisibility talisman, slapping it on himself.

A moment later, several witches giggled as they passed through the corridor, past the Fat Wizard chewing on beef jerky. One of the witches seemed to notice something, whispering secretly to a companion while pointing at the Fat Wizard.

”That’s right! I’m part of the Atonement Hunting Team!” Xin Fat Man confidently patted his belly, posing with a ’come and get me’ expression: ”Su Councilor’s little husband Zheng Qing is our team’s captain!”

The witches weren’t curious enough to gather around and instead fled as if startled.

”Did you see that? The brave win in narrow paths, it’s all about the presence!” Xin Fat Man shamelessly praised himself: ”I think you should really come out from under the invisibility talisman and walk openly in front of others... As long as your presence is stronger than theirs, it’ll be them who should flee in panic!”

Zheng Qing squinted, looked at the Fat Wizard, and pondered: ”Isn’t there a possibility... that it’s not your presence scaring them off, but your sleazy aura?”

As they spoke, the two arrived at the classroom door.

The Fat Wizard boldly pushed the door open, and the noisy voices in the classroom instantly quieted, with nearly everyone’s gaze roving around the Fat Wizard, seemingly looking for someone.

Unfortunately, no one was there.

After a brief moment of searching, disappointed eyes were drawn back, and the sound in the classroom started spreading again like a rising tide, soon filling the entire space.

Zheng Qing, wearing the invisibility talisman, followed the Fat Wizard step by step, cautiously observing the surroundings.

Nicholas might still be busy with his ’petitions,’ and his seat was empty; Jiang Yu hadn’t come either, but Li Meng had unexpectedly arrived early, arrogantly putting one foot on the bench and waving her arms while ranting vigorously.

”...He’s a coward!”

Her voice was loud, and in the pauses, she occasionally glanced around the Fat Wizard with suspicion: ”Last night’s parade was just a warning. If he dares to show up, our Su Su Support Group will show him why the flowers are so red! My big sis is a coward too. If it were me, I would’ve found a Great Curse Master ages ago to turn that coward into a snot worm!”

Hiding in the air, Zheng Qing pursed his lips.

It’s only because Jiang Yu’s not around that this little girl dares to mouth off like this.

Just as Zheng Qing was considering recording her words, the young cost student suddenly noticed the little witch slowly and seemingly unintentionally moving toward the aisle.

He warily stopped.

In the next second, Li Meng kicked a stool away, suddenly pouncing fiercely behind Xin Fat Man’s back, at the air—only to fall in the aisle, face-first.

”Slipped... I just slipped a bit!” She wiped the corner of her mouth that had been scraped, glancing sharply left and right, and slightly emphasized her tone: ”Slipped (sly)!”

Poof.

A tiny, stifled chuckle sounded from the air, drifting indistinctly, location unclear.

”Coward!”

The little witch immediately jumped up, yelling: ”Spineless scum! Coward! If you dare, take off your invisibility talisman and fight with your little granny here three hundred rounds!”
