High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2120: Chapter 241: Week 11

Zhang Ji Xin’s words were spot on.

In the next few days, the campus was buzzing with discussions. There was the growing momentum of ’Please give me a frog’ across the Northern District Wizards, the Beta Town Daily’s exhaustive essays on the Moon Council about the inclusion of the Mouse Clan, the arena matches at Starry Sky Academy and Atlas’s Winter Festival, and the reappearance of a certain person and the new grass doll product launched by a certain infamous burned wizard.

No one paid attention to the fishmen in Lin Zhong Lake.

It was as if those wizards who tirelessly ran around for the fishmen in the lake last semester had all perished within a year. And the fishmen themselves had become unusually obedient during this chaotic early winter, rarely surfacing to cause trouble, so much so that the freshmen felt nothing towards the rumored race that pulled children into the water or snatched freshmen’s backpacks.

Their impression of the fishmen was mostly dead fish-eyed creatures, poking half of their heads above the water to sunbathe, or spitting bubbles in the shallow waters, using stone sticks to knock unconscious frogs lying by the shore, then dragging them underwater.

”I think the main reason they’ve quieted down is because winter is coming.”

Zheng Qing held his textbook, standing by the black rockery by the lake, speaking earnestly to the Doctor: ”...Fishmen are cold-blooded animals, originally weak in resisting the cold, so it’s not surprising they choose to winter dormancy.”

A few unfamiliar witches passed behind the warlock, whispering and giggling, seemingly encouraging each other to greet Zheng Qing.

It’s already good, at least they’re not rushing in with torches, Zheng Qing comforted himself, not staying in place, pulling Xiao Xiao to head towards the library.

Disappointed sighs faintly came from the witches behind him.

”You should communicate more with them,” the Doctor adjusted his glasses, calmly offering his suggestion: ”Compared to the boys, the witches have less aversion to you and more interest. If we could establish good relations with them, we could promote other suitable peripherals, like photos, postcards, dolls... slow and steady... instead of just selling single grass dolls.”

Zheng Qing’s face darkened, sneering: ”Hey, selling grass dolls, you’ve even added flavor?”

”Haven’t you also made quite a bit of money from this?” The Doctor pouted, not fond of the young cost student’s ambivalence: ”If you really care that much, go to the school, go to Danghag and propose a ban, surely no one will sell these things anymore...”

Upon hearing this, Zheng Qing’s momentum was instantly deflated.

”I, was I doing it to make money?” he argued, veins bulging on his neck, his face flushed: ”I was doing it to channel other people’s violent emotions! As the saying goes ’Preventing people’s speech is worse than preventing a flood’, ’blocking is not as good as sparing’... if they had no grass dolls to burn, who knows, they might grab you all as substitutes to burn!”

”Burn you, Zheng Qing, what does it have to do with us.”

Xiao Xiao felt the young cost student’s logic was inexplicable, but ultimately kept his patience to analyze: ”Here’s another thought, every straw they buy from the shop could become resources for your experiments... making money is not shameful... the next time you eat a gold bean for breakfast, you can secretly tell yourself, they’re burning your sweat, while you’re eating their blood, every grass doll they burn turns into spoonfuls of caviar on your egg roll.”

This analysis unexpectedly suited Zheng Qing’s taste, he immediately felt much better.

Just as he wanted to vaguely express his willingness to do something like autograph postcards, Doctor Xiao abruptly changed the topic: ”Speaking of which, compared to fishmen or shop business, I’m more concerned about the frequency of you turning into a cat lately... Are the cat fruit trees going to war with the young masters in the Pet Garden, or is it the Seven Sins taking secret actions? Why have you turned into a cat every night these past two weeks?”

Because the little white cat is unhappy, the black cat needs to cheer up the little white cat.

Zheng Qing sighed silently in his heart, not yet knowing how to respond to this tricky question, when suddenly his vision went dark, a few burly figures blocked in front of them, and at the same time, a light blue card landed at his feet.

Xiao Xiao didn’t hesitate in his steps, just made a slight adjustment, turning to the side to pass by the obstructing warlocks.

While Zheng Qing skillfully activated the amulet hanging at his waist, drew out the Colt silver python, and leisurely looked at the unexpected guests, speaking rapidly before they could: ”No time, no respect, no hunting, no accepting challenges, no participating in arena matches, not a coward. I’m a student at Jiuyou Academy, if you want to compete, let’s compare exam papers.”

This was the template he had summarized in nearly a week of appearances.

Obviously, if the obstruction were witches, this template would become ’Sorry, no time, apologies, no autograph, Poseidon is at Greenhill Mansion, Su Councilor is busy, this is personal privacy, thank you,’ a more courteous expression.

Overall, witches tend to gossip, while warlocks are more action-oriented.

”Heh, just as shameless as the rumors say!” The white-robed student sneered repeatedly, his law book rustling: ”Since we’re standing here, do you decide whether to compete or not?”

A crisp snap of fingers was heard not far away.

Zheng Qing’s heart immediately steadied—that sound meant Xiao Xiao had already activated the Memory Flower to ensure everything happening would be accurately recorded.

”Here’s a piece of advice,” he glanced at the white robe’s law book, his gaze falling on those two black-edged corners—just sophomore students, he assured himself—kindly reminding: ”You’re not the first wave of troublemakers to come knocking... by the way, according to First University’s Campus Management Regulations, arbitrarily drawing a law book on campus constitutes a violation. If it escalates into an attack, then it’s not just about writing an inspection or warning anymore.”

”So much crap!”

Another blue robe impatiently murmured, throwing a punch at Zheng Qing without a second thought. His two companions flashed, blocking Zheng Qing’s escape route from left and right, concurrently flipping open their law books.

Zheng Qing pouted.

Good words can’t persuade the doomed, compassion doesn’t reach the self-destructed.

He subtly spun his wrist, instantly emptying the Colt python’s cylinder, six Fu bullets carrying ordinary spell light, tracing six distinctly divergent arcs before successively landing on the three unexpected guests.

This was a piece of life experience he had gained through countless skirmishes.

The phantom of the yellow hill, mist rising, scolding voices, angry curses, spell light flashing, a brief explosion sound, then everything returned to stillness.

At some point, a crowd of red robes had gathered again to watch the spectacle.
