Chapter 1296: Chapter 1297: Is the Knife Too Sharp?

An Jing finally heaved a big sigh of relief, her heart settling as well. She had immediately ridden over upon hearing from Liu Feifei that they had encountered bandits.

”Where is she injured?” An Jing asked again.

Qin Yi answered, ”It seems to be her back; the subordinate saw a lot of blood on her back.”

An Jing frowned: ”Then the Leather Armor is of no use.” Ye Zhi was also wearing the Leather Armor worn by the soldiers in the military, which is supposed to protect both the chest and back.

Qin Yi held up the dead bandit’s knife for An Jing and others to see: ”The subordinate has checked it, this knife is much sharper than ordinary knives.” In other words, it’s not that the Leather Armor wasn’t useful, but rather that the knife was too sharp.

An Jing, without dismounting, looked down at the knife emitting a cold glow and extremely sharp, somewhat surprised: ”This bandit actually has such a good knife.”

Suddenly, An Jing asked again: ”What about those five bandits?”

Qin Yi said, ”The subordinate didn’t see five, just saw one who is also dead.” He paused, ”The death was a bit strange, injured in the center of the eyebrows, the wound was like a hole, and there was this in the hole.”

As he spoke, Qin Yi took out the bullet to show An Jing.

An Jing and Xiao Changyi, upon seeing the bullet, realized that Ye Zhi had fired the gun, probably having shot one bandit, and the other four were scared off.

”There’s nothing strange,” An Jing put on an unimpressed air, ”This is Ye Zhi’s unique hidden weapon; she wouldn’t use it unless someone was after her life.”

Hidden weapons can be varied, and An Jing’s lying was indeed very convincing.

”So that’s how it is. Then this...?” Qin Yi did not know how to handle this hidden weapon.

An Jing said, ”Just throw it away, it’s of no use anymore.”

”Yes.” Qin Yi waved his hand and threw the bullet into the river beside the road.

The ten new recruits were still in Ru Xi County. Ye Zhi asking her not to worry was also letting her lead the troops well; knowing this, An Jing did not immediately return to the military camp to see Ye Zhi, but rode back to Ru Xi County.

Liu Feifei and the others, upon seeing An Jing return, immediately asked anxiously about Ye Zhi’s condition.

An Jing said: ”Don’t worry, your deputy instructor is not seriously injured, just wounded and has already gone to see the doctor. By the way, Feifei, Ting Shu, do you know where those bandits came from?”

She had scouted this cross-country march route in advance, without issues, and she was really curious how suddenly five bandits appeared.

Worrying about Ye Zhi’s safety, upon hearing from Liu Feifei that they had encountered bandits, she immediately went to look for Ye Zhi, and had not inquired in detail about the bandits from Liu Feifei and Ting Shu.

Liu Feifei said: ”The deputy instructor interrogated them; they seem to be bandits from Everlasting Mountain, they happened to be here on business when they ran into us, initially wanting to rob us of our valuables, but seeing our good looks, they wanted to rob us of our virtue and take us as their Bandit’s wives.”

”No wonder.” An Jing understood. It was just a coincidence. But, ”Everlasting Mountain?”

An Jing looked at Xiao Changyi: ”Husband, do you know about Everlasting Mountain?”

Xiao Changyi said: ”I know of this mountain, but didn’t know that there were bandits on it.” He paused, ”Everlasting Mountain is within Mo Shi County.”

From Ru Xi County there, one has to pass through another county to get to Mo Shi County.

An Jing then realized, thinking about how dangerously sharp that bandit’s knife was, if they really get into malicious acts, it would be a big threat to the common people. However, before she could say anything, she heard Xiao Changyi ordering Meng Zhuqing: ”Go look into these bandits of Everlasting Mountain.”
