Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1270: Chapter 1271: Must Believe...

He sighed inwardly, but Xiao Changyi’s tone was especially gentle, ”Didn’t I tell you all this morning that I would be home late today?”

It was evident that he was becoming more and more patient with his four children.

The four little ones were sobbing, looking pitiful, but still responded to Xiao Changyi, ”But it’s already so dark, and Daddy hasn’t come home yet...”

Xiao Changyi could only sigh inwardly, but his arms tightened around the four little ones.

”Yi Er, they haven’t had dinner yet. They said they wanted to wait to eat with you, so please hurry up and have them eat. They’ve cried for so long and haven’t eaten; they must be starving by now.” After a pause, Su Haoyu added, ”I’m a bit tired, I’ll head back to sleep.”

Then, Su Haoyu left.

Then Xiao Changyi dined with the four little ones.

Actually, Xiao Changyi had already eaten at the military camp, so he was not hungry, but he still joined the four little ones for a little bit of food.

The four little ones were cheered up, though their little doe eyes remained red.

After the four little ones had finished their meals, Xiao Changyi bathed them.

While bathing them, Xiao Changyi said, ”Today, Daddy went to the military camp to see your mother. Daddy can’t just take care of you and not care about your mother.”

Even though they had just seen her the previous afternoon, upon hearing Xiao Changyi’s words, the four little ones asked in their babbling voices, ”Is Mommy okay?”

”Good.” After a pause, ”Your mother is busy with some things and can’t come back to see you for now, but she really misses you and won’t abandon you. Daddy won’t abandon you either. You must believe in Daddy and Mommy. You are their children; no one in the world cares about you more than they do. You need to trust Daddy and Mommy, understand?”

Without waiting for the four little ones to answer, Xiao Changyi continued, ”Regardless of whether others believe in Daddy and Mommy, you must believe. That way, you’ll be good children to Daddy and Mommy.”

”Hmm!” The four little ones fervently nodded their little heads, ”We want to be good children to Daddy and Mommy, we believe in Daddy and Mommy.”

”Good kids.” Xiao Changyi felt very reassured. Although he knew that his four children would readily agree to things, actually sticking to their promises could be difficult.

After all, they were just over three years old. Still kids. Still unaware of many things. Asking them to be as good as their word, to follow through - at this point, it was indeed challenging.

”Tomorrow, Daddy has to go to the military camp to see Mom again. If I come home late in the evening, you shouldn’t cry, and you must eat well without starving yourselves. You always say it’s uncomfortable to be hungry.”

The four little ones immediately answered in their babbling voices, ”Okay.”

”If tomorrow Daddy comes back to find you crying and not eating well like today, Daddy might really get angry and spank you.”

The four little ones immediately shook their little heads in fear, saying, ”Daddy, don’t spank us. We won’t cry, we’ll eat, and Daddy, please don’t be mad.”

Although he had never actually spanked the children, the four little ones were particularly afraid of being spanked, which Xiao Changyi found amusing. Yet he maintained a serious demeanor, ”As long as you eat well and don’t cry, Daddy naturally won’t be angry, and won’t spank you.”

”Yes, we will behave, we’ll eat, we won’t cry.”

They agreed so readily, which made Xiao Changyi find it even funnier, but he pretended to take it seriously, ”Very good.”
