Chapter 1293: Chapter 1294: Open Your Heart

Watching Su Chengyuan hold back her tears for so long only to finally cry, An Jing sighed and gently patted her back, saying three words: ”You’ve worked hard.”

In An Jing’s eyes, Su Chengyuan had truly grown up a lot. The military camp was indeed a place that could transform a person.

Hearing An Jing say she had worked hard, Su Chengyuan’s tears flowed even more fiercely. If she were in the palace, how could she possibly have endured such hardships? While crying, she said, ”I must become a Great General.”

Though crying, Su Chengyuan’s tone and gaze were unwaveringly determined.

”I am a Princess; I can throw away my face, and I can also pick it back up,” Su Chengyuan added through her tears.

Seeing Su Chengyuan finally open up to her, An Jing wrapped her arms around Su Chengyuan’s shoulders, saying, ”This month of training, no matter how tough and exhausting, you’ve never complained, and your performance was good... Chengyuan, you’ve already picked your face back up.”

”Not enough! It’s still not enough! I want to become a Great General!” Su Chengyuan continued to cry, her tone resolute yet tinged with childishness.

Previously, she truly wanted to pick up the face she had lost, hence she trained so diligently.

But the longer she served as a soldier, the more her fighting spirit was roused, and the more she wanted to become a Great General on her own merit.

And moreover—

”By becoming a Great General, I can truly help my Emperor brother. I want to help my Emperor brother defend a part of our territory,” she said.

Since she had started, Su Chengyuan decided to share all her thoughts with An Jing: ”I was born to a palace maid. Even though I am honored as a Princess, because my imperial consort mother was a lowly palace maid, many do not like me, and even the Emperor does not care much for me. Only my Emperor brother... Only my Emperor brother cares for me, loves me, and always has the Empress sister-in-law look after me, giving me all kinds of good things. I want to help my Emperor brother. I wasn’t lying; I really wasn’t lying back then. I truly wanted to join the military camp and become a Great General to help my Emperor brother.”

”Yes, you weren’t lying. Not just me, your Emperor brother also believes in you.” It’s just that you originally thought being a soldier was easy, and you were not used to enduring hardship or becoming fatigued at that time.

An Jing left the latter sentence unsaid.

As for the fact that Su Chengyuan was born to a palace maid, An Jing had heard of it. It was said that Su Haoyu was once drunk and bestowed his favor upon a palace maid, and then, that palace maid became pregnant and gave birth to Su Chengyuan.

However, that palace maid died during childbirth.

When Su Chengyuan was born, Su Chengyu had already taken a wife, but seeing Su Chengyuan had lost her mother at birth, he pitied her and asked Su Haoyu if he and Ning Wenxian could take care of Su Chengyuan.

It can be said that Su Chengyuan was brought up by Su Chengyu and Ning Wenxian.

Moreover, Su Chengyu has always been very affectionate toward his sister Su Chengyuan. The siblings have a particularly good relationship, no wonder Su Chengyuan thought of becoming a Great General to help Su Chengyu.

Thinking of this, An Jing sighed inwardly. Su Chengyu’s kindness had indeed brought good fortune.

Having expressed the thoughts that had been weighing on her heart, Su Chengyuan felt much better, and gradually she stopped crying. But she could feel that her relationship with An Jing had become much closer than before.

Seeing that Su Chengyuan’s mood had stabilized, An Jing also felt relieved.

By the time Baoqin and Shi Hua arrived, Tobanya and the others had already had ample rest and even had their meal.

An Jing was originally sitting with Xiao Changyi and, after waiting for quite some time, when Ye Zhi, Liu Feifei, and Ting Shu still hadn’t arrived, An Jing stood up and asked Qin Yi to check on them, to see where they were and how much longer it would take for them to arrive.
