Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1258: Chapter 1259: Husband, Won’t You Really Look at Me?

At the fourth quarter past noon, it was time for lunch.

An Jing let everyone stop lifting the stone locks and head to the canteen for the meal.

After having lunch, it was not even the sixth quarter past noon when An Jing returned to her tent, planning to take a midday nap.

Ye Zhi and the new recruits also returned to their respective tents to rest.

The afternoon training would only begin at the second quarter past the hour of wei, allowing for an hour’s midday rest.

While heading back to her tent for a nap, An Jing was also wondering whether her beloved husband Xiao Changyi had returned or not.

Involuntarily, her steps quickened considerably. Because she hoped, just like yesterday, Xiao Changyi would be waiting for her in her tent. And that upon opening the tent, she would see her husband.

However, to her disappointment, upon opening the tent, she did not see her husband.

An Jing’s eyes merely darkened momentarily before she gathered her spirits and walked towards the bed at the far end of the tent.

The afternoon training would be far more exhausting than the morning’s, so she needed to sleep well and conserve her energy.

The sleeping area was separated by screens, and as soon as An Jing walked around the screen, she saw her beloved husband lying on his side on her bed, propping his head with one hand and resting with his eyes closed. She was instantly overjoyed.

Rushing over, she quickly took off her shoes, then removed her leather armor and set it aside before sliding into her husband’s arms.

Xiao Changyi did not even open his eyes, but he withdrew the hand propping his head and held her as they lay down together on the bed.

”Husband, won’t you open your eyes to look at me?” An Jing asked with a giggly smile as she lay in Xiao Changyi’s arms, looking up at him.

Xiao Changyi did not open his eyes, but he hugged her tighter and said softly, ”Sleep, don’t talk. You need to replenish your energy.”

”Alright then, I will sleep.”

”Mhm.”

After waiting for a while and hearing An Jing’s even breathing, thinking that she must have fallen asleep, Xiao Changyi then opened his eyes, intending to take a good, close look at An Jing.

This morning, he had only watched her from a distance, and he was far from satisfied with just that.

However, as soon as he opened his eyes, he saw his wife looking at him with a smiling face.

Startled at first, he then quickly flipped over, pinning his wife beneath him and kissing her passionately, both to alleviate his longing and to punish her for deceiving him, as she clearly hadn’t been asleep at all.

Although they had only seen each other from afar two hours ago, he still longed for her deeply.

The saying, ”Parting is sweeter than union,” fits moments like this, and it is at times like these that An Jing and Xiao Changyi fully comprehend the sentiment behind it.

And so, as Xiao Changyi kissed her deeply, An Jing wrapped her arms around his neck and earnestly reciprocated.

The kiss was deep, intense, and passionate, as if they wanted to devour each other completely.

But after a brief moment, they stopped.

It was Xiao Changyi who stopped first. Because he knew An Jing had to train the new recruits in the afternoon and needed to rest.

”Be good, sleep,” Xiao Changyi said as he held An Jing and gently brushed her disheveled hair behind her ear.

”Mhm.” An Jing nodded with a particularly sweet smile.

Xiao Changyi leaned down for another kiss, and only then did An Jing obediently close her eyes and snuggle into his embrace to sleep.

Xiao Changyi, however, did not fall asleep. Instead, he just watched over An Jing as she slept in his arms, his cold eyes filled with tenderness. Because at this moment, his eyes held only her.

With her husband by her side, An Jing’s nap was exceptionally peaceful.

The quality of her sleep was good, and so when she awoke, An Jing was full of energy.
