Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1271: Chapter 1272: Are you being a thief, and even...

After bathing the four little ones, Xiao Changyi let them climb onto the bed to play.

Only after Xiao Changyi himself had finished bathing did he also head to bed.

But it was late, and after insisting on playing with Xiao Changyi for a bit, the four little ones couldn’t stay awake and fell asleep.

Xiao Changyi tucked the four little ones in before he also lay down to sleep. The night had truly deepened, but after closing his eyes, it took him a while to really fall asleep.

This had been the case for the past few days.

He was more accustomed to his wife sleeping by his side.

Just as Xiao Changyi had fallen asleep, on the other side, in the women’s military camp, a shadow stealthily entered Ye Zhi’s tent.

”Zhizhi...” As soon as the shadow entered Ye Zhi’s tent, it called out to Ye Zhi in a particularly soft voice.

Ye Zhi immediately sat up, startled: ”Who is it?!”

”It’s me, your Chenchen~” Gong Juechen took a flint, lighting the oil lamp inside Ye Zhi’s tent.

Ye Zhi had already become accustomed to Gong Juechen’s nauseating flattery, she simply retorted irritably: ”Are you sick? Middle of the night, what are you doing in my tent?”

”I wanted to come earlier, but the soldier following me hadn’t fallen asleep yet. I took the chance when he dozed off.”

”Acting like a thief, sneaking in when someone dozes off?”

”Not stealing, I’m just worried you don’t want others in the camp to know about us.”

”Us, what could possibly be between us?!” Ye Zhi gritted her teeth and spoke emphatically, word by word. ”Moreover, with your big mouth going around saying I’m your fiancée, now the whole camp actually believes that!”

The more she spoke, the angrier she got, and Ye Zhi started to curse: ”Damn it, you come in the dead of night just to anger me, right!”

”How could that be,” Gong Juechen looked innocent, ”I came to give you acupuncture. You’ve been overworking during the day, your body must be sore. I’ll give you a few needles, it will help you recover faster. Also, keep your voice down, wouldn’t want to wake anyone up.”

Considering her current stiffness and soreness, and the fact that this guy’s acupuncture could really help, Ye Zhi immediately turned over to let Gong Juechen administer the acupuncture.

At the same time, she also lowered her voice, urging: ”Hurry up!”

”I’ll be quick, I know you have to train troops tomorrow, you need more rest tonight,” Gong Juechen said softly as he started to insert silver needles into the acupuncture points on Ye Zhi’s back.

Suddenly, Gong Juechen remembered something: ”By the way, Zhizhi, I brought you a big chicken leg, do you want it?”

As he spoke, he took out a chicken leg wrapped in greased paper from his large sleeve and handed it to Ye Zhi.

”Not in the middle of the night, but it can be saved for tomorrow morning,” Ye Zhi took the chicken leg and placed it beside the bed. The food for the soldiers here really wasn’t as good as what she had in her previous division. Having a meat dish for a meal was already good, but most of the time there wasn’t any.

Here the effort was to fill the soldiers’ stomachs, but the quality of the food was really not great.

Mass-cooked meals, just a tad better than pig swill, but not by much.

”Where did you get this chicken leg?” Ye Zhi suddenly became curious. He’s a military doctor now; he shouldn’t be able to leave the camp at will.

While administering acupuncture, Gong Juechen explained: ”Today someone left the camp to purchase supplies, I asked that person to bring it for me, got two, one for you and one for me.”

Ye Zhi remained silent, and at the same time, she tried her best to ignore Gong Juechen’s words, not wanting his words to affect her in any way, but involuntarily, her heart still stirred slightly.
