COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

Hachiman has learned from Chabashira-sensei that both she, Chie, and Hiratsuka-sensei were students of this highly-developed high school in past.

They are all friends in same class.

Climbed up from Class D and finally reached B. But that’s where it ended, graduating as Class B.

As only Class A can obtain all rewards of this school, they are losers.

As for this, Chabashira-sensei has already let it go, but Chie seems to have gotten caught up in it.

However, Hikigaya-kun and Hoshinomiya-sensei don’t have a very good relationship, so there is naturally no need for them to pay attention to each other.

As a senior in this school, Miss Hiratsuka is ready to pass on her experience to Mr. Hikigaya.

As a junior, he should be accepted.

”...” Hachiman.

Although Hiratsuka’s idea was good, he was indeed not lacking in experience in how to face unknown side of his classmates.

Press fingerprints.

Recording.

Even marrying each other.

”.....!” Hikigaya-kun was able to come up with three plans, and... 70% of them have already been put into practice.

But if what Hiratsuka-sensei said was not an example but a fact, then Hoshinomiya-sensei is really same type as Kushida-chan as we had guessed before.

It’s really scary.

However, in comparison, Hikigaya still feels that Kushida-chan is more reassuring.

At least, although she does not hide her negative emotions, still able to control herself.

But Miss Hoshinomiya Chie gave him a feeling that she had no bottom line.

This is not good.

So even though Hoshinomiya-sensei looks like a pretty older sister, Hikigaya still thinks Kushida-chan is a lot more cuter.

”So, Hiratsuka-sensei, how did you deal with it when you first encountered it?”

Although he had already thought a lot in his heart, Hikigaya-kun still responded to Shizuka politely.

Um?

Who is Shizuka Hiratsuka? She was from Class D in past, and then she led D to climb up to B. Although failed in the end, she is still a tough girl.

She immediately noticed that Hikigaya-kun didn’t seem to be paying attention to this scene. Or even didn’t care much.

You have to know that when she saw this scene, it was the first time she realized that people could be two-faced.

She was quite surprised at that time, even a little at a loss.

’So, don’t you, Hikigaya, think this situation is strange? Aren’t you surprised that seemingly gentle Hoshinomiya now has such a side?’

”At that time, I never thought I would encounter such a situation....”

”So, in this case, you didn’t choose to record or videotape, but chose to leave secretly? It’s a bit regrettable, because promotion is not something that can be done by one person....You need someone to work hard with you and cooperate with you. So, when you can get someone to help you get promoted, I think it would be better to do it directly.”

”...” Shizuka.

???

...Ah? What’s wrong with this child?

Shizuka Hiratsuka was stunned.

’Why does it feel like the situation is reversed, and it’s Hikigaya who’s teaching me? And the fact that you can express this insight means that you have actually done this. Hey, have you recorded and taken photos of the students who are venting their emotions here? And do you use this as a weapon to control the opponent, and make them cooperate with you to get promoted?’

”• Q !” Shizuka-chan was doubting.

”I also came to this place after I entered school. I encountered situation that Hiratsuka-sensei just described.”

’So that’s it! No wonder other party didn’t respond. It turns out that he had encountered this before.... But if you do this, people’s opinion of you will be slightly lowered.’ Hiratsuka-sensei thought to herself quite rudely.

Then she heard Hikigaya-kun continue with a calm face, ”At that time, I just felt that I had walked into this place by mistake. Although I was a little surprised that classmate who looked innocent turned out to be evil. But I didn’t record or take pictures. Because I didn’t think it was a strange thing. It’s almost impossible for people to not be two-faced. If we can’t do it ourselves, how can we ask others to do it? If you set too high expectations for ordinary people, you will only be disappointed. So I don’t have any expectations, and won’t be surprised if the other party is not true to themselves.”

???

”.....” Shizuka felt like she was being re-educated here, and didn’t learn much in her own school years at all.

’I see. So this is how you understand things, and human beings so thoroughly. But, that’s not right, Hikigaya....! Not right at all!~’ Shizuka Hiratsuka began to understand why Chabashira would bet on this guy.

This student is really different.

Originally, Shizuka felt that because of his past experience and the fact that he had been in the hospital due to his injury, boy had missed the opportunity to enter new campus and live harmoniously with students.

That’s why she recommended this school to him. ’But now I think that I had misjudged him. Perhaps even if he continued to stay in Sobu High School, Hikigaya Hachiman would not have had a bad life thanks to his insight and observation of others.....So, did I make some unnecessary changes in the timeline?’

”Come to think of it.” Hachiman took the initiative to bring up topic that made Hiratsuka feel a little okay for the time being, ”Have you met Chabashira-sensei and the others today, Hiratsuka-sensei?”

”Not yet.” Shizuka denied calmly after she regained her little bit of dignity, ”I didn’t go looking for them on purpose.”

”So, do you want to meet him now?”

The time now is 4:43. Although there is not much time left before 5 o’clock school leaving time, you can still talk.

At this time, Shizuka Hiratsuka also reacted.

It’s not that Hikigaya didn’t want to gain experience from her, but he was considering that she was a guest today and also a classmate of Chabashira and others, so he took the situation on her side into consideration.

Shizuka Hiratsuka discovered that this guy is actually very considerate!

”Not now. I have discovered that Chabashira is no longer clinging to the past. I have been thinking about this before. Was my original choice correct?” At that time, Shizuka and her classmates were climbing up from Class D.

When became a 3rd-year student, with only three months left before graduation, was only 400 points away from Class A.

Then encountered this special exam.

All unanimous special examination.

”Choose one of top three students in overall ranking to withdraw.”

At that time, it was the final push, but everyone knew who top three students in overall ranking were.

At that time, Shizuka Hiratsuka was one of the members, and she was not sure whether other two would take any action to protect themselves.

That would only destroy the attack power of this class and even cause mistakes.

So, she made a prompt decision and chose to sacrifice herself.

Her family is pretty good and her academic ability is not low, so even if she sacrifices herself and drops out of school, her life will not be ruined, but she can help her companions who have persisted for three years to make further progress.

So, chose to sacrifice herself at that time.

Choose to let everyone drop her out of school yourself.

But at that time, she couldn’t convince Chabashira, and in the end girl opposed it, and no one got extra 300 points.

She accepted this result, but Chabashira, who had opposed it at the beginning, fell into it.

”I think Hiratsuka-sensei had already figured it out by then. Something wrong with scores of every special exam in this school.”

Um? Shizuka immediately looked over with big eyes. Could it be...?

”Can the lower-ranking classes really represent face of the school being pushed out? This is what I thought about when I first entered this school as a student in Class D. The school hopes that us four will compete with each other. Indeed, competition can help people grow. But will our D class really be recognized if we make it to the top having people who did nothing the entire school year and hugged thighs?”

”....I don’t know about that. But I can confirm that in every special exam, when we were about to catch up with Class A, score of the exam seems to change. Although it was not very obvious, the score closest to Class A was just 100 points. However, score of the special exam next month was only 50 points. Then, in special exam that determined everyone’s fate, I chose to give up. I wanted to fight for a chance for the class.....”

”Then it’s because of insufficient communication and trust between each other in Hiratsuka-sensei’s class. If you completely trust all your classmates, then you can convince them. But instead of doing that, I think it would be more convenient to just come up with an effective agreement. For example, regardless of success or failure, you need to accept the cost of dropping out of school.”

”Do you mean making those students pay the price?” This statement made Hiratsuka Shizuka’s eyes light up, or rather, her heart moved.

Because this was last year when Chabashira left from Advanced Nurturing High School, and then she met Chabashira but Haruno came to disturb.....proposed a solution.

”Yes, we can’t let those guys just hang around doing nothing.”

”It’s indeed a novel insight....”

”It’s not new, because my class is doing this now. To kick one person out, pay 2 million personal points.”

”• ! O” Hiratsuka Shizuka.

’Is that so? The competition in class is so fierce nowadays. In other words, although I am now a senior in this school, I feel that I really can’t keep up with current class competition. How come you say that dropping out is like doing business? Is there no friendship between classmates at all? However, after entering society, you will find that feelings are actually the cheapest thing. Only those who can see through it will use money to buy it out. Eh...!’
