Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 390: Chapter 297: One-Sided Slaughter, Mutated Humans_2

?!

What’s going on?

Is she about to use her explosive ability?

After using the explosive ability, you’ll be weak for 24 hours!

It’s usable, but Xu Xin won’t let her use it so easily.

He immediately slapped the back of Lou Fei’Er’s head, making her, who was standing still, yelp and fall forward into the snow layer.

”Ugh, ugh...” Lou Fei’Er was completely buried in the snow, struggled twice, swallowed some snow, and then finally stepped on the ground, rising from the snow.

”What was that for? Pteh, pteh, pteh!” Lou Fei’Er spat out the cold snow crumbs from her mouth, somewhat dissatisfied, ”I was just about to locate that guy, why hit me!”

Locate?

”What are you looking for?” Xu Xin immediately asked.

”There’s a special guy.” Lou Fei’Er looked in one direction, her pupils emitting an eerie glow, ”That guy, is of my kind.”

Lou Fei’Er’s kind?

Xu Xin’s eyes also glowed brightly: ”Mutant humans?”

Good heavens, she can actually sense the location of mutant humans, that’s just perfect!

”Yes, it’s mutant humans!” Lou Fei’Er rubbed the spot on the back of her head where Xu Xin had just hit, somewhat displeased, ”So I wasn’t being lazy just now! And you hit me, you owe me compensation!”

”Do you know, you almost used your burst just now.” Xu Xin shook his head helplessly, ”Alright, have you found the location? Take me there.”

”Huh? Use the explosive ability?” Lou Fei’Er was a bit confused, but upon hearing Xu Xin’s request, she instinctively nodded and began to lead the way, ”Follow me, I can sense it, keep walking outwards for two hundred meters, there’s one.”

The two stepped into the snow layer, Lou Fei’Er’s movements began to be affected.

After all, the snow layer was over a meter deep, already reaching her waist, no matter how fast she was, her speed would be affected.

Xu Xin took out a piece of the energy core. In an instant, the surroundings were illuminated with a white-glow, and the temperature gradually rose.

”Hmm...” Lou Fei’Er hummed lightly, glanced at the energy core shard with a frown, but said nothing.

From her expression, it seemed she wasn’t very comfortable.

Within the surrounding snow layer, every few meters a mutant creature lurked.

But under the white-glow, those red dots did not disappear, instead they remained motionless.

Was it that the snow layer reflected the light, protecting them?

Although the surrounding temperature rose, it was only around twenty degrees. To melt the snow layer at this temperature would take a long time, unless he cleared it himself. But that would be too troublesome.

After holding it for over ten seconds, seeing it was indeed useless, Xu Xin reluctantly put it away.

This thing should have remaining energy like the treehouse core; it can’t be used continuously.

The surrounding temperature dropped again, quickly returning to its original state of around negative twenty degrees.

”Aren’t you cold?” Xu Xin exhaled white breath.

He was feeling a little cold now, although the purple-level steel armor was the highest level armor set within the purple-grade, it was half a tier above the scale armor set made from pieces taken off the Lake Giant Python, making it bearable for him despite the cold.

”Not cold, I even kind of like this temperature.” Lou Fei’Er grabbed a handful of snow, crushed it in her palm, ”Perhaps it’s related to my mutation direction. I feel my limbs are more agile in the cold.”

Mutation direction? Such an ability?

That’s pretty good. If it weren’t for the current dispute between the giants and the Blood Pattern Race, and the various post-mutation abnormalities seen on Lou Fei’Er, he might have just wanted to swallow one right now.

”That direction, right?” Xu Xin pointed ahead.

”Yes, it’s... Ah!” Lou Fei’Er hadn’t finished speaking when Xu Xin suddenly grabbed her, leaping forward.

The two plus the panda instantly leapt twenty meters into the air, with a panoramic view of the scenery ahead.

Lou Fei’Er tightly gripped Xu Xin’s arm, eyes wide open, looking at the ground now twenty meters away, her brain, influenced by the bloody smell, went blank due to the sudden situation.

Then the two began to fall.

”Ah!” She screamed, as they ”thumped” into the snow layer, Xu Xin taking out a long halberd, stabbing vigorously at the snow-covered ground nearby.

[Killed a Snow Wolf, earned points: 30]

”You... Ah!” Before she could calm her nerves, Xu Xin jumped again, causing her to scream, clutching Xu Xin’s arm, legs curling up.

”Squeak...” Keke, on Xu Xin’s shoulder, was already used to it, even freeing a paw to pat Lou Fei’Er’s shoulder in comfort.

”Don’t... don’t... Ah!” Down again after reaching the peak height, the intense feeling of weightlessness made Lou Fei’Er scream once more.

Although the portal also had a weightlessness feeling, its side effects were too strong for her, that dizzying sick feeling made the weightlessness seem less important.

This was different; now she had no dizziness or nausea, only fully experiencing the feeling of falling from tens of meters high, with her eyes able to see it!

She saw herself leap instantly to tens of meters high, then free fall!

This was essentially continuous bungee jumping!

So thrilling!

Again, jumping and landing, accompanied by Lou Fei’Er’s screams.

”Stop... stop jumping, I’m begging you, I can’t take it anymore! Let me catch my breath!” Lou Fei’Er felt her legs shaking.

Though her legs were a bit weak, her face was now flushed and excited from the thrill.

Initially she was scared, but after several tries, her mind only had one thought, ”This is just so thrilling!”

But it was too thrilling, she was starting to not handle it.

”We’re there.” Xu Xin released Lou Fei’Er.

Her knees buckled, she kneeled in the snow layer, panting lightly.

”Is it that exaggerated?” Xu Xin was a bit puzzled.

He felt nothing; perhaps due to his enhancement, he perceived such big jumps no differently than regular jumps.

”Squeak squeak! Squeak squeak squeak!” Keke waved a paw to defend Lou Fei’Er, indicating it was indeed too thrilling, that most pandas couldn’t handle it!

Lou Fei’Er knew now wasn’t the time to dilly-dally, only kneeling for two seconds before pushing herself up, pointing at a tree five meters away, buried with a meter-thick snow layer at its base and trunk, ”There, right there!”

She hadn’t finished speaking when Xu Xin swept a halberd over.

Of course, he used the halberd face, purely to clear the snow.

He couldn’t have wanted to directly kill a creature they could potentially communicate with.

The snow surface got swept away in a large swath by the halberd and wind, revealing the tree’s base trunk.

”... Heh, found you.” Xu Xin’s lips curled into a smile.

There, at the tree’s root, was a mutant human covered in blood patterns, clothed in thick animal hide like a primitive man, leaning against the trunk, head bowed, sitting. His body was still covered in remnants of snow.

”It’s truly a mutant human!” Lou Fei’Er unsheathed a dagger from her waist, body slightly bowed, ready to attack at any moment.

This person had his head bowed, expression unseen, also motionless.

Was he dead?

On the map, his red dot wasn’t very prominent; in terms of strength, not even matching the Snow Wolf he previously killed. But since it still had a glow point, it meant he was alive.

Perhaps, answers about where these mutant creatures came from could be found from him.

Xu Xin’s halberd moved slightly, leaving a cut on this person’s arm.

Blood oozed from the wound, forming droplets, slowly sliding down, yet this person remained motionless.

Sensing the vitality through the halberd grip, Xu Xin made two more cuts on him, absorbing his life energy.

”Did he pass out? Fainted?” Lou Fei’Er wasn’t cautious like Xu Xin since she was highly agile; even if this person attacked suddenly, she was confident in dodging.

She approached, reaching to tap the person’s head, ”Hey, wake up... Hey? Look, he has a... axe?”

Only to see on the ground by the man’s right hand, beneath the snow, was an axe. His right hand was pressed on its handle.

”Blue-level axe?” Xu Xin’s pupils shrunk. His identification ability could see the blue glow it emitted.

This mutant human actually had a blue-level tool in hand!

Lou Fei’Er brushed the snow aside with her foot and then kicked the axe away from the person’s hand.

The mutant human still showed no response, only sitting there with his head bowed, unmoving.
