Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 376: Chapter 292: New Amplification, Unstoppable Chill

Xu Xin looked at his watch; it was just past seven in the morning.

The sun had just risen from the horizon, though only half-visible, it illuminated the entire forest, making the snow covering the trees reflect a dazzling white light, which made him squint.

Darkness fell at four or five in the afternoon, and it was just getting light at seven in the morning, making the winter nights truly long.

”Huh?” Keke, awakened by the cold wind, climbed onto the windowsill and looked outside, then let out a surprised exclamation, ”Huh!”

Keke had fallen asleep when it snowed yesterday, so it hadn’t seen the snowfall, and it was quite surprised now, craning its neck to look outside, almost falling, only to be pulled back by Xu Xin.

Outside the window, the snow also weighed down the treetop of the treehouse. The canopy didn’t block Xu Xin’s view, but the snow did.

He reached out to shake the treetop, and the snow that had obstructed his vision fell to the ground, clearing his view once more.

A few hundred meters away, a reservoir-like lake was completely frozen over, with a visibly thick layer of ice sealing it entirely.

”Good! I hope the Lake Giant Python is frozen inside, so it doesn’t come out again,” Xu Xin muttered to himself.

Another gust of cold wind blew in, chilling to the bone, and lowering the room’s temperature significantly.

He quickly shut the window.

Snowfall isn’t as cold as when it melts. The temperature now must be below minus ten degrees.

A map surfaced in Xu Xin’s mind.

To his relief, there were still no red dots on the map, indicating that the surroundings were temporarily safe.

At this moment, a voice sounded in his ears.

[Detected treehouse decoration score exceeding 500, granting today’s random enhancement: Jumping ability boost, effect lasting one day. Additionally, you can choose a second enhancement from past boosts.]

Jumping ability boost?

As soon as the voice finished, he felt a warm current flow through his legs, making them feel incredibly powerful.

Today’s ability is to jump higher?

He attempted a light jump.

”Whoa!”

His feet left the ground instantly, and just as his head was about to hit the ceiling, he quickly reached up to block it.

With his hands pressed firmly against the ceiling, he avoided the embarrassing situation of hitting his head.

With a ”thud,” Xu Xin landed back on the ground.

”Huh!” Keke, startled by Xu Xin’s sudden jump, tilted its head, looking at him.

This feeling is so amazing!

Just now, he barely used force due to fear of hitting the ceiling. It was just a slight attempt.

Even with that minimal effort, it almost led to hitting the ceiling.

A slight movement lifted him over a meter high!

If he had really jumped with full force, how high would that have been!

Moreover, he felt that with his current legs, he could jump from any height without getting hurt.

Looking at the blanket of snow outside the window, he was almost tempted to jump out and try it.

His treehouse’s third level was nearly twenty meters high, equivalent to a six or seven-story building.

Still, he felt like he could jump out unharmed.

He shook his head, dismissing the reckless thought, and began choosing his second boost for the day.

After some thought, he opted for a hearing enhancement.

Today might see the outbreak of beast tides and other situations. He needed his ears as a human radar, constantly vigilant of the surroundings to be prepared for any sudden situations.

The limitations of his map were significant, and he couldn’t always monitor the map in his mind. However, hearing was different; he could hear any slight disturbances, akin to a passive method of detecting his surroundings.

Upon selecting the hearing enhancement, all the subtle noises around him became audible.

At the moment, nothing unusual was detected.

Stepping out of the bedroom, Mimi and Silver King lounged lazily by the fireplace, basking in its warmth, with Afu nestled on Mimi.

Even though it was freezing outside, the treehouse remained cozy, thanks to the fireplace.

Xu Xin immediately sent a voice message to Ma Hongwei, asking him if he wanted to come over or guard his own treehouse.

”I won’t come over. With the crossbow and the electric grid downstairs, it should still be defensible. I don’t want my treehouse destroyed and then have to clean up the inside again,” Ma Hongwei replied.

”Your period of weakness hasn’t passed yet, has it?”

”No, but it’s okay. I didn’t have much combat power myself anyway, and with the strength I’ve regained now, it’s enough to operate the control panel.”

”Alright, if the beast tide hits and you can’t hold out, contact me.”

Xu Xin ended the call.

Then, his watch vibrated again; it was a voice message from Lou Fei’Er: ”Have you had breakfast? I made a lot. I just contacted Wenxi, and she’s coming over to eat too.”

Xu Xin was a bit surprised, ”You really cooked for everyone?”

”Weren’t you the one who asked me to be in charge of cooking for everyone?”

”Okay, I’m heading over now.”

Xu Xin smiled helplessly; Li Wenxi was indeed a carefree person, daring to come over for breakfast even at a critical time.

Xu Xin left some mutated beast meat for Silver King and Mimi, then swung down the treehouse with Keke.
