Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 377: Chapter 292: New Amplification, Unstoppable Chill_2

The crown of the treehouse was already covered in white snow. However, thanks to the thick canopy blocking the snow, there was no accumulation beneath the treehouse.

Moreover, Xu Xin could feel that the temperature around the treehouse wasn’t very low, surprisingly staying above zero degrees!

The most obvious part was that the pool he dug near the treehouse hadn’t frozen, whereas the two channels leading to the pool, beyond a fifty-meter radius of the treehouse, were completely frozen over, not to mention the distant lake.

The treehouse actually maintained the surrounding temperature from dropping too low!

Is this the function of the treehouse’s core?

Lou Fei’Er emerged from the ground hole.

”Is this temperature okay? Do you want to go inside the treehouse?” Xu Xin asked Lou Fei’Er.

Lou Fei’Er let out a clear chirp, shaking her head, indicating it wasn’t necessary.

Xu Xin stood at the entrance of the hole, feeling a warmth emanating from inside.

The tunnel inside was quite warm. What’s the principle behind this?

Xu Xin curiously peeked inside and saw two little creatures lying on the exposed roots of the treehouse, wagging their tails up and down.

...Treehouse roots? Do the roots of the treehouse emit heat?

He immediately slid down from the entrance.

Although the tunnel wasn’t as warm as inside the treehouse, it was still over ten degrees, which was no problem for the mutated pangolins.

He touched the exposed roots of the treehouse and, indeed, they felt warm and continuously emitted warmth.

No wonder, it’s warmer within fifty meters, and it can continue to support plant growth, thanks to the treehouse roots at work.

He thought about the blue-level core of his treehouse, which he hadn’t used yet, possessing similar functions when held in hand.

It seems that the roots of the treehouse emit heat due to the abilities granted by the core of the purple-level treehouse in his treehouse.

”Ee...” Keke looked at the two pangolins larger than itself, suddenly stood up, and raised its arms trying to scare them.

The two little pangolins still lay on the roots of the treehouse, wagging their tails, and made a sound at Keke, completely unfazed by its attempt.

Xu Xin also teased the two pangolins and then took Keke back to the surface.

Beyond the canopy’s range, the snow on the ground was nearly half a meter thick, to the extent that it severely hampered movement.

Xu Xin stepped into the snow layer.

Because it was snow from last night, this layer was relatively soft. He looked up at the treehouse window hidden within the canopy and slightly bent his body.

”Ee...ee?!”

He suddenly propelled himself upward with a forceful step, and in an instant, he shot into the sky like a rocket!

”Ee-ee?!” Keke clung to him with its four paws, crying out in fear.

Xu Xin jumped to the highest point, and as he controlled the roots to enter the treehouse, the treehouse canopy moved aside to avoid him.

He grabbed the window of the treehouse, used the strength in his arms, and settled into a sitting position on the window ledge.

”My gosh...” Looking at the twenty meters down to the ground, even he was startled by the jump.

Now, behind him was the third floor of the treehouse.

This jump alone reached a height of twenty meters!

And he didn’t even use his full strength; he felt he could jump even higher!

Such a powerful leap enhancement!

”Ee!” Keke jumped directly onto the window ledge, waving its little paw at Xu Xin and protesting, ”Ee-ee-ee!”

It was really scared.

”Alright, Keke, let’s go down.” Xu Xin sat on the window sill, picked up Keke, and jumped straight down.

”Ee!” Keke let out another scream.

”Pfft!” Xu Xin landed in the snow unharmed, but Keke’s little paws were groping over him, as if checking if he was injured.

This jump enhancement is quite an unbelievable ability, too!

Not only can he jump high, but he can also jump from heights, using only his legs to absorb all the impact without injury.

”Okay, stop checking, see, I’m fine.” Xu Xin petted Keke’s little head, which was still trembling slightly in his arms, and continued to walk out.

The farther he walked, the more he felt the temperature gradually dropping.

”Ee...” Keke curled itself up and nestled into his arms, hugging its tail for warmth.

”Huff—”

Trudging through the snow towards the outside, when reaching about fifty meters from the treehouse, he exhaled a breath of white air and hunched his neck.

The biting cold permeated his purple-level Scale Armor, seeping into his body, making him feel the long-lost cold.

This temperature was probably around minus twenty degrees! His Scale Armor’s thermal insulation was no longer effective.

Not to mention other people’s blue-level suits, which must have become useless as well.

Xu Xin reached out and pushed open the high-voltage gate, the wire was exceedingly cold, so he rubbed his hands together.

At this time, above the coordinates beside him, a purple vortex began to form, and with a unique sound, the exit of the teleportation gate opened.

A ripple in the purple-black vortex, and Li Wenxi leapt out from it, her foot landing in the half-meter deep snow, her face flushed red from the cold.

She immediately saw Xu Xin and, not surprised, dashed over and hugged him, ”So cold! Oh, Keke!”

She reached out to pet Keke’s little head, caught between them.

”Ee!” Keke responded with a sound.

She was dressed in a blue-level leather armor, and Xu Xin could feel her body shivering from the freezing cold.

”The Scale Armor is so cold!” Li Wenxi grabbed Xu Xin’s hand and pressed it to her face.

The icy but smooth feeling transmitted from Xu Xin’s hands made Li Wenxi show a comfortable expression, ”Your hands are so warm...”

”It’s so cold and you still came, are you alone?” Xu Xin gently pinched her icy cheek and asked.

”Yeah, Yajun and Le Youfang are now in my treehouse. Strangely, they can control my treehouse’s control panel. I let them keep watch for me, came by to scrounge for a meal, and after eating I’ll go back, hehe... ah... achoo!”

Li Wenxi sneezed and rubbed her nose, ”Uh... it’s so cold, let’s go inside quickly.”

”Alright, let’s go.” The two trudged through the snow towards Lou Fei’Er’s treehouse.

”The snow is really thick; it’s hard to even move outside.” Li Wenxi used her legs to brush the snow ahead, occasionally kicking it.

”But with this, the beasts from the beast tide will also find it difficult to move. It’s a natural barrier in a way.” Xu Xin found that a good thing.

”That’s true!”

Xu Xin considered another matter.

About what Li Wenxi just said, that Li Yajun and Le Youfang could manipulate her treehouse’s control panel.

He had some clearer thoughts in mind.

Lou Fei’Er could also operate the control panel of Ma Hongwei’s parasitic treehouse.

And on the map, Li Wenxi was always unmarked, without any light points, while Lou Fei’Er and Ma Hongwei were marked as green companion points.

This suggests to him that Li Wenxi is still considered a neutral unit, while Lou Fei’Er and Ma Hongwei are recognized as companions.

He previously thought this was due to the contract.

No, it is indeed due to the contract because at the moment of the contract, their light changed from red to green.

But even without the contract, being parasitic under the same main treehouse might mean being considered friendly units?

Perhaps that is why they can’t control each other’s treehouses’ entry and exit but can control things within the treehouses.

That must be it.

This makes things much simpler, but...

He and Li Wenxi are still not considered companions...

What about in the future?
