Surviving The Fourth Calamity

As Hill predicted, the greatest significance of this battle was to severely injure Delphus rather than eliminate him directly.

The goal of the battle angel was merely to prevent Delphus from being killed just days after leaving Sia Tower, especially with these bones clearly originating from Sia Tower itself.

Their aim was to test whether Delphus himself had issues, or if it was just a coincidence of bad luck.

The careless handling by Rosero and Aislin proves that they both understand the matter well.

Otherwise, given Rosero’s usual way of doing things, he would never sit so close to Delphus to help him fend off enemies.

After all, he has a good excuse: protecting Aislin.

No matter how complicated the relationship between Glaysia and Aislin is, as long as Aislin is still Aislin, Rosero must show her respect.

The order of devils is always so strict.

No matter what happens in private, the appearance must always be orderly.

And this seemingly odd battle, which only served to deliver a grand gift to Gilbert himself... Hill felt there was also a possibility that they were baiting him.

It seems Hillbert over there in Sia Tower has a bit of suspicion compared to what they imagined.

But they are reluctant to directly act against Gilbert as they did before.

Given the circumstances, even Lansendel is involved, and if Gilbert has issues, it’s undoubtedly related to the Styx... in a world where humans fail to grasp the problems that devils know so well... devils certainly don’t want to directly confront the Envoy of the Styx.

Moreover, now that the Tower of Dark Enigma has entered the rankings of Sia Tower, even if the Lord of Hell abandoned some schemes, Fengo from Sia Tower surely hasn’t received an official notice. They don’t wish to abandon their plans before they see results.

Directly attacking Gilbert... what if he is not problematic?

Then all the benefits put forth earlier would be wasted, wouldn’t they?

Devils always believe in proportional gain, offering benefits must retrieve even greater profits, and giving or losing is the greatest failure for them.

Therefore, Fengo will not easily abandon the Tower of Dark Enigma.

So they can only probe indirectly.

If Gilbert truly is as they thought... Hill now realized that Sia Tower had likened him to Russell, who was fooled by him, treating him as the Master of Strange Objects from the Defense Tower.

Well, in a normal scenario, only the individual himself could remain unharmed under such powerful attack.

Hillbert’s condition does resemble that.

Not a single arrow hit, even the terrifying ’Order Jewel’ had no effect on him, which is quite intimidating.

Hillbert couldn’t help but curl his lips... he couldn’t control this either.

Probability-based damage to him essentially means no damage.

One percent and ninety-nine percent are both zero percent to him.

No wonder Fengo would use the necromancy army from the Defense Tower to test Delphus, and even arranged a Bone Giant from the Archmage’s maternal family.

Gilbert surely wouldn’t be pleased about such occurrences, but if he is the individual, even if informed afterward... without witnessing it personally or interacting directly, merely rumors, a Seventh Circle Mage would swallow this anger.

Moreover, the only one with a loose tongue is that Aislin.

But by the time she returns to Sia Tower and behaves promiscuously, who knows how the world has changed... as for other possible observers, who could inform Gilbert?

Even Ruth wouldn’t easily expose his powers... if he could view and livestream the entire scenario from such a distance, the Tower of Dark Enigma wouldn’t have ended up as merely an affiliate of Sia Tower.

But if Hillbert truly is as Sia Tower suspects, as a Master of Strange Objects unexpectedly revived from Styx... although the soul is annihilated, Styx’s will may still allow him to remain human... taking Gilbert’s place, then he undoubtedly could see the whole scene.

Whether Delphus has issues or not, that Master of Strange Objects would never give up tracking him.

Not to mention, Hillbert truly acted upon it.

Even though those mosquitos are unnoticed, the slow-moving birds following Delphus’s airship are quite evident.

Given Hillbert’s demonstrated power, these Puppet Birds could never match the speed of the airship, nor fly too far... no wonder Fengo sent the necromancy army after Delphus had only left Sia Tower for a few days.

According to Hill’s prediction, action should commence only when beyond Sia Tower’s control range!

Acting so close, it’s challenging to claim it’s not a maneuver by Sia Tower.

Furthermore, time is dragged with the black dragon, and they drag along.

That battle angel really has an unexpectedly good temper... but Hillbert can understand, for one stationed by Asmodeus in Glaysia’s location is surely among the least keen on meddling.

As long as Glaysia hasn’t violated the limits set by any Lord of Hell for her, even if watching her dig the Moon God Crystal from the temple, that battle angel wouldn’t blink, seeing nothing.

Perhaps that one is quite pleased... Bisozeya’s daughter not wanting her to resurrect normally and fully is enough to gather battle angels for a few bonfire parties.

As loyal followers of Asmodeus, battle angels show enthusiasm beyond fans... even if aware that Asmodeus doesn’t genuinely love his wife, she sullies their brother brighter than stars as a foolish sister-in-law.

Hillbert fully understands this mindset... having studied for years in college, who hasn’t witnessed large-scale breakdowns?

Sobbing in classrooms is trivial, and entire academic buildings resembling mourning sites have been seen.

Even their civil engineering’s indifferent young ladies would curse over idols having a spouse.

The brother is always right, the only wrong is that heedless sister-in-law tainting their brother.

Therefore, when Hill discovered a battle angel, he immediately grasped why Asmodeus knew everything yet no one at Sia Tower ever stopped Glaysia’s antics.

The temple must be managed by this battle angel.

Also, because he is there, even the meticulous Hell Prosecutor Fengo barely attends to temple affairs... native Great Devils have awkward relations with battle angels.

Generally, neither side interferes in the other’s affairs.

Hillbert blinked his eyes, couldn’t help but glance outside.

Then, getting up to the floor-to-ceiling window, he cheerfully opened the thick drapes, gazing at the beautiful blue sky and moving clouds.

Sure enough, someone is watching.

Hillbert tilted his head, noticeably frowned before abruptly pulling the curtains shut again.

”Teacher?” Russell, already following behind and looking out, asked puzzled, ”Did something happen?

Is there someone outside?”

”I don’t know.” Hillbert shook his head, ”But it seems someone is watching us.

Sia Tower, ha~

It seems really quite restless, be extremely cautious when you go out.”

Russell pondered for a few seconds, finally understanding Hillbert’s meaning: ”Yes, teacher. I understand.

Next time when heading to the main tower to obtain resources and trade supplies, I’ll carefully probe.

If Mage Koyl knows, he might say something?”

”Hmm...” Hillbert turned to look at him, nodding in satisfaction: ”If Koyl doesn’t know, he’ll seek Archmage Ruth to probe.

News will emerge eventually.”

Then he glanced at Carpenter trailing behind Russell, nervous, and smiled to comfort the two kids: ”Actually, we don’t truly need to be so cautious ourselves.

However, I don’t wish to let my carelessness affect others’ tasks, that would be excessive.”

Carpenter widened his eyes in surprise, then pointed towards where Rommel Mage’s main tower is: ”Is Mr. Rommel that important?”

”Not exactly.” Hillbert thought for a moment, ”Though not much interaction, we know each other at least.”

Russell smiled helplessly... their teacher isn’t the type to consider acquaintances familiar friends.

Probably this Rommel Mage, though quite familiar with their teacher, doesn’t share a great relationship?

Yet isn’t an enemy.

Amusingly, their teacher seems hard to have enemies but quite a few discontented individuals.
