Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Fengo felt that Rosero’s performance was a bit over the top.

Glaysia has a new favorite every year, a true love every season, yet Rosero is always still there.

That kid is definitely up to something: did Glaysia pull some stunt and Rosero has already figured it out?

He’s always by Glaysia’s side... that Princess only raises questions, then waits for the people below to solve them for her.

Normally, the unlucky schmuck doing that job is Rosero.

Glaysia is just willful, not brainless... sometimes she picks idiots to work for her purely to see just how stupid an idiot can be, whether they can give her a grand show for laughs, not because she actually doesn’t know the thing is doomed to fail.

As a Princess of Hell, loaded, with endless resources, even if she stirs up some trouble she really shouldn’t, she’s got a daddy behind her who, no matter how furious he is, still has to come out and clean up her mess—Glaysia has the right to be capricious.

For her, the worst outcome is just being locked up in her own palace a bit longer... she doesn’t like it, sure, but sometimes a bit of fun worth savoring for a hundred, eighty years is still worth it.

Fengo only figured out much later why Glaysia caused so many disasters and was still Lawful Evil... because she doesn’t screw around out of ignorance of the outcome; she knows it’s bound to fail, and just wants to see how it fails.

So-called faction alignment sometimes depends on the person, too.

The Princess of Hell’s innate traits let her run wild for a very long time.

The same antics, if pulled by some little Devil... would probably have been ”dealt with due to faction drift” ages ago.

Which is why Glaysia still knows that the truly important... important to her personally... matters need to be handed to people who are more sensible.

The kind of Great Devil who absolutely would never betray her lightly, unless Asmodeus himself showed up in person.

As for Devils who would still protect her even in front of the Lord of Hell... Glaysia is at least that self-aware: after Bisozeya and that whole squad of palace guards around her were wiped out, there is simply no way such a Great Devil still exists in Hell.

That’s suppression from the depths of the Soul, not something you can demand with loyalty.

Of course Devils still do shady things, they just can’t let the Lord of Hell notice.

Otherwise, once that one actually steps in personally, there’s nothing that can stay hidden... though, sure, the higher the Level of the Devil, the higher their Resistance.

But put another way, it makes sense for him to struggle desperately to save his own skin; how the hell would he struggle himself to death for some other Devil?

Do you think, when the Lord of Hell is breathing down his neck, he’s going to be gentle?

So in Hell, being able to find a subordinate who can keep her secrets even in front of other Grand Dukes is already extremely rare.

Honestly, just looking at how Rosero has managed to keep strutting around gloriously in the Princess of Hell’s court till now, you know she’s not clueless.

Heh~ Glaysia is always pretending to be muddle-headed while knowing exactly what’s going on, tossing everything aside for the sake of a bit of fun.

A guy like Rosero, even if he didn’t know what Glaysia did at first, once he pairs that with this lady’s attitude today, he definitely has spotted something.

There are things Fengo could figure out if he wanted to, but he neither wants to nor dares to.

Like that Aislin standing behind Ruth, face full of question marks... her expression basically said: how could there be anything you know that I don’t?

Heh~ Fengo has absolutely no desire to dig into who she really is, or what gives her that kind of confidence, or how she even dares look at Rosero with that kind of gaze!

He stared at Rosero coldly: ”What kind of fit are you throwing?

It’s not like I said you came here to compete for favor.

He’s a student of Kamente Tower; how could he know nothing about Grand Magus Glacia’s splendid life?

This is just White Tower’s routine business. Even if it’s gone, are you really going to be wishing you were dead?”

Rosero’s previously scattered Spirit suddenly focused... he sensed it: someone was trying to set him up.

He looked at Fengo with a calm gaze that held a hint of scrutiny: ”Respected Black Artist, I’m just a minor clerk. Please don’t mix Lady Glaysia’s private matters into my work.

As for who Grand Magus Glacia likes, who she’s willing to use, that’s not something small fry like us get to interfere in.

Even you shouldn’t be wagging your finger about it here.”

”Heh~ I just don’t want things getting chaotic over on the White Tower side.” Fengo let out a faint laugh. ”For Grand Magus Glacia to rush back like that, she must have something very important to do.

This is the first time I’ve seen her abandon the apple of her eye...”

Rosero suddenly straightened his back: ”Archmage Fengo, please don’t waste your casual speculation on places where it’s not needed.

No matter what you think in private, don’t bring it to me.

To me, any of your thoughts are completely meaningless.

I will only follow Grand Magus Glacia’s orders.”

He glanced at Rommel again, and at this young, handsome, elegant Male Mage with outstanding bearing, he gave a friendly, warm smile: ”In Sia Tower, Grand Magus Glacia’s will is always paramount.

Of course, Grand Magus Glacia has never forced anyone into anything; she’s simply passionate and straightforward.

Mr. Rommel, you really don’t need to be troubled.

However, I can assure you that in the White Tower, absolutely no one will do anything improper just because the Tower Master has a special fondness for you.”

The White Tower doesn’t have idiots like that.

So if anyone does something harmful to you in the name of the White Tower, just strike back immediately.

Life and death, no need to hold back.

Just like Gilbert Hainarson—when he was ambushed this time, every person he killed in counterattack, nobody felt they deserved sympathy, and nobody said anything they shouldn’t.

No matter what his past identity was.

Here in Sia Tower, though some things aren’t quite the same as outside, if someone goes looking for death, no one will care how he dies.

Mr. Rommel, you can set your mind at ease.

Of course, with Mr. Kamente Tower here, you basically won’t run into any danger, but allow me to say this: if you need anything, you must contact the White Tower and ask for me.

Never hesitate.

Any message from you is not a bother to me.

On the contrary, if anything happens to you during this period, that would be the real fatal crisis for me.”

Rosero drifted lightly to Rommel’s side, holding out his own silver name card, inlaid with gemstones of every color, in both hands: ”If you need it, just write your name on my card.”

Rommel took the pretty silver card without a word, nodded to him, then continued his silence.

What was he supposed to say?

Just ask Rosero... take a guess, which idiot would dare write his real name on a letter handed over by a Duke of Demons?

This guy might indeed not dare make a move while Glaysia still has her eye on him, but Rommel is very clear: Rosero is already preparing to settle accounts afterward.

If Rommel really relied on Glaysia’s situation to run wild, even if he wouldn’t think to ask Rosero for help for the time being, this Great Devil would still find a way to force him to ask Rosero for help.

He had just finished recording his presence into Sia Tower!

Rommel felt that this trip to Sia, right from the start, was a bit too frightening, truly far beyond what he’d imagined.

Fengo cast a glance at Rosero, who’d handled things a bit too obviously, and sighed inwardly... this guy’s reaction really is fast.

Fengo had only said a single sentence, and Rosero already understood his real purpose: to test whether Rommel knew their true identities.

If Rommel knew Rosero was a Great Devil, he would absolutely never accept that name card so casually.

Devils excel at setting traps on anything you can write on—that’s already common knowledge among anyone in the Multiverse with a bit of experience.

Of course, it could also be because Rommel’s self-control is strong enough.

But Fengo felt that if this guy had issues, this was the only moment they could be exposed... no matter how mentally prepared a powerful individual is, in the face of Glaysia’s favor, their heart will never stay so calm.

So when they face something tied to life, death, and the Soul, some minor wavering is inevitable.

Only someone who has no idea about a Devil’s nature, and thinks he simply won’t ever need this name card, would act like Rommel—carelessly taking it.

Then promptly stashing it away in the deepest part of his storage ring.

Fengo nodded in satisfaction, then turned toward Ruth: ”Ruth, I’m heading off first. Don’t worry, I won’t shortchange Gilbert.”

Ruth frowned, answering slowly, ”Then I’ll thank you in advance on Gilbert’s behalf.”

Fengo gave a small laugh and shot off at speed.

’Aislin’ suddenly stepped out from beside Ruth, and in passing gave Gilbert—who seemed to be doing nothing, head lowered and staring at his toes, his whole body tucked behind Ruth—a shove.

”What are you doing?” Hilbert asked, displeased.

”You annoy me. What’s wrong with pushing you?” ’Aislin’ rolled her eyes at him. ”Why are you hiding behind Teacher?

What... afraid that woman will take a fancy to you too?

Relax. Although you’re also her preferred type, when she has a target, Grand Magus Glacia never cheats emotionally.

When she’s chasing love, she likes one-on-one.

Only when she’s enjoying herself does she like games with everyone together.”

Hilbert’s lips twitched a few times, then he quickly reacted... this is Aislin!

Ordinarily, the two of them would never let Aislin come out when there are so many Sia Tower Mages around.

Especially with Glaysia just up above, very likely still watching even now... so why has ’Aislin’ vanished without a trace?

Even if she did personally witness Asmodeus suffering that unexpected setback, it shouldn’t have driven Glaysia’s Soul to hide so thoroughly she left no trace at all!

What happened to the two of them?

No... Glaysia was willing to give up Rommel just to return to the White Tower—does that have something to do with this?
