Surviving The Fourth Calamity

”Are you sure that scorching fire came from the Lord of Dawn?” Rommel asked Hilbert for the third time.

”What are you thinking?” Hilbert was a bit frustrated, ”Do you think I could be mistaken?

And, that’s the fire even Asmodier could not withstand!

Even if it was just a possession, his power could still enhance that body significantly.

The flames of this world can’t penetrate his defenses.

Wait... Why am I discussing this with you?

There’s no way I’d mistake Lansendel!”

Rommel looked dejected: ”I just wanted to hear another answer.”

”Why are you so worried about Lansendel?” Hilbert was a bit confused... According to the time Rommel arrived in this world, Hill didn’t think he would know about Lansendel becoming close gossip partners with the Undead Tribe in Toril.

Though he indeed speculated that Lansendel’s arrival might bring the Undead Tribe, but how would Rommel know?

”Before I entered this world, I did know a bit about the news related to Toril.” Rommel said softly, ”Didn’t Lansendel give the Undead Tribe the Dawn Badge?

That’s something only his followers have, yet he gave it to the Undead Tribe... Their relationship must be quite good.”

Hilbert nodded in realization: ”Oh~ It seems you came to this world before the fourth Goddess of Magic in Toril embarked on her divine path.

Hmm?

The timeline of this world is a bit strange!”

”A newly born world! Don’t forget Teraxil doesn’t align with the universe’s timeline either.” Rommel answered with concern, ”The timeline of this world has started to align with the multiverse due to the devil’s invasion.

According to a normal newborn world, there shouldn’t only be such a small proportion.

Hmm? Has Toril’s Goddess of Magic changed again?”

”That’s a long story.” Hilbert smiled, ”We might not have that much time to chat.”

Rommel nodded: ”Then let’s talk about it later, my curiosity isn’t that strong right now.

So, will Lansendel bring the Undead Tribe when he comes to this world?”

He looked at Hilbert with eyes full of hope.

However, Hilbert’s inability to say a single word plunged Rommel into despair: ”You can’t even offer me comforting words?”

”Asmodier will definitely try to intercept Lansendel, preventing him from easily finding this world.” Hilbert said with a bit of difficulty, ”The world he can use as a shield...”

Rommel naturally understood: ”Only those few evil worlds near Teraxil, right?

There are even two worlds controlled by demons in there!”

”Demons?” Hill was a bit surprised, ”After they control a world, don’t they all pull it into the Bottomless Abyss?”

”When there’s a world next to it controlled by devils, they might temporarily keep it.” Rommel smiled, ”And, one of them is clearly controlled by the Zholar.

That Goddess Rose is quite patient.”

Hilbert blinked: ”Hmm... Rose?”

Rommel immediately reacted: ”What are you trying to say? Rose has dealings with Asmodier?

Is she that bold?”

If it were before, she certainly wouldn’t dare to openly help the Lord of Hell... But back in Aesces, she had already acted as a mediary between Asmodier and the Abyssal Will.

The current stalemate between those two is simply because neither wants to take the first step or compromise with the other... But the alliance to deal with the Heavenly Mountain is already decided.

Although the oath of the Styx is the most reassuring bind for both parties, even if not attainable, they wouldn’t care too much.

It’s just that Asmodier would be more burdened... He must ensure that when the demons tear up the contract, he has already reached the top of the Heavenly Mountain and obtained the Life Crystal Stone.

But it’s not impossible.

Hilbert nodded affirmatively to Rommel: ”In recent times, demons and devils will only have small-scale conflicts, not large-scale bloodshed.

They have more important things they want to do.”

Rommel furrowed his brow: ”Then, Asmodier surely won’t take action against those two demon worlds, right?”

”Rose voluntarily helping is also quite possible.” Hill pursed his lips, ”As long as she doesn’t attract hatred towards herself, she might really want to cause Lansendel some trouble.”

”I won’t ask you why.” Rommel shook his head, ”That Lord of Dawn is naturally enemies with everyone in the world.

So, are we actually in more danger now?”

Hilbert nodded seriously: ”Asmodier might abandon some of his designs for this world, then when he acts, he won’t be too cautious.”

Rommel was silent for a minute before slowly asking: ”Since he changed his mind, won’t he take his daughter away?”

”Giving my foolish daughter a shock would be just the thing he would do,” Hilbert said decisively. ”So, can you tell me what kind of trick Glaysia pulled off to create a... duplicate that doesn’t belong to her?”

Hill estimated the time; they had 10 minutes left. He didn’t want to leave with questions unresolved.

”Didn’t you say she controls the moon of this world?” Rommel said nonchalantly. ”Devils don’t possess divinity. They can pretend to be a weak deity surviving on a divine artifact, but becoming a natural goddess like the Silvermoon Goddess is essentially impossible.

So, she must have used a substitution method.

That is, using the Power of the Silvermoon to create a demigod soul and then letting a piece of her own soul be the controller.”

”How did she do that?” Hilbert asked in astonishment. ”Divine souls aren’t that easy to fracture, are they?”

”Of course, it’s not using a divine soul,” Rommel smiled slightly. ”I guess it’s the soul of the deity’s Chosen or a demigod-level follower.

Then, grind the divine crystal of the Silvermoon Goddess into powder and simmer it with her flesh and blood into a gel, which serves as the glue to unite those soul shards.”

Hilbert couldn’t help but twitch at the corners of his mouth, ”Truly disgusting.”

”It’s an unbelievable gamble,” Rommel didn’t mind Hill’s muttering... Surely, this Little Bear couldn’t stand such a vile alchemy. He simply said thoughtfully, ”The chance of success is indeed there.

And not small.

As long as she keeps that soul in a constant state of not knowing who it is and uses the link between her and the soul during this period to control the moon, it’ll work.

No wonder Aislin inexplicably reached the Eighth Ring, yet didn’t know her own law.

She is clearly of the Moon Race, but advanced with the wicked law controlled by a devil, hence unable to find her direction.

The strand of Glaysia’s soul in her soul must have only recently awakened... I suppose Glaysia’s soul has just suppressed the demigod soul.

After all, in the construct, the proportionality of the demigod soul is larger.

Even if they aren’t the same person, they belong to the Moon Race.

Hmm?

Wait... so when Fengo questioned her, she was so flustered.

She secretly used the Silvermoon Divine Crystal that provided mana to the Statue of Bisozeya?”

Rommel finally understood why the Princess of Hell was clinging to him initially but then suddenly rushed home... It turns out she was caught stealing her own family’s assets.

”She genuinely doesn’t want Bisozeya to resurrect, does she?” Rommel muttered softly.

”Not necessarily,” Hilbert chuckled. ”She might simply be selfish.”

Rommel nodded, ”It’s more like a reckless, thoughtless selfishness.

But, with such a major disturbance, does the Lord of Hell truly not know?”

”With Asmodeus’s style, anything known to Fengo and Glaysia certainly isn’t truly useful.

That’s why I said, the Lord of Hell likely wants to teach his brainless daughter a lesson.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have suddenly knocked over the Silvermoon hanging on the White Tower; it must be something he knew long ago.”

”You see, Lansendel is such a terrifying existence!” Rommel brought the topic back to the Lord of Dawn. ”Even Asmodeus collapses upon discovering his existence.”

Hilbert looked at him helplessly, pulling out a pile of items from the storage ring. ”These are what I obtained from the previous world. I think you might want them.”

Rommel hesitated for a moment before tentatively accepting the woven metal items. ”Oh... someone managed to escape alive!”

”You went to avenge your students?

So you’ve been chased all the way here?” Of course, Hill understood the implication in his words.

”I suddenly feel that the one who tossed me over here didn’t actually want me dead.” Rommel truly had no mood left to put on an act, his words coming out much more precisely. ”Instead, they hope I can do something in this world to thwart the Lord of Hell’s plans.

However, I suspect they don’t know what Asmodeus has been up to in this world; they just know it’s significant.”

”Who’s hunting you?” Hilbert smiled. ”Mephistopheles?”

”How did you know?” Rommel asked in surprise. ”I thought it seemed like him; the Undead Tribe drew his likeness.”

”Hmm?” Hilbert turned back in surprise. ”I just thought he’d just been kicked out of Gerns, and his Pseudo Magic Net was used by William, so he might go near Teraxil to keep an eye out.

If it were him, this would be quite normal.

He always liked to hassle Asmodeus.”

But for Mephistopheles to proactively approach him, Draculus must have stirred up some significant trouble over there!

”Did you kill a lot of people over there?”

Rommel looked at the woven metal in his hand, ”Heh~ Not much, just cleaned up a bit.

Luckily, there was still one who at least glanced at the outside world.”
