Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Rommel raised an eyebrow, but he still trusted Kamente Tower’s judgment regarding those two from the Tower of Dark Enigma.

No matter his character, Kamente Tower is absolutely shrewd and meticulous in his dealings.

If someone like Ruth and Nicholson were caught off guard by Kamente Tower, you can imagine how cunning his tactics must be.

Especially when those two from the Tower of Dark Enigma realized there was a chance to recruit Kamente Tower, even Nicholson, who hated him to the bone, eventually chose to reconcile with him, didn’t he?

Rommel understood best that what could erase hatred was definitely not the goodwill of people, but rather... the strongest enemy is the one you can’t kill.

Only an enemy you can’t kill has the right to turn foes into friends.

He mused aloud, ”In that case, they think that Aislin would not survive if she stayed here?

How could that be... that method Glaysia employed, even if she leaves herself a way out, it’s just that way... oh, right, there’s also that Silvermoon.

Indeed, when those two collide, regardless of who lives or dies between them, Aislin surely can’t survive.

Tsk~ If only her riddled soul could be bathed in the Light of Dawn, it indeed would have some possibility.

Unfortunately, it was Lansendel who came, not Celene. If it had been Toril Silvermoon, who is more sensitive to souls... hmm, hmm?

No, I’m overthinking this. Celene wouldn’t like someone with Aislin’s character, maybe in the end, only that Silvermoon will survive.”

”Those two deities from the Otherworld where you’re present, they seem really strong?” Kamente Tower pondered as he asked, ”I feel like the figure behind Sia Tower is already invincibly strong.”

He’s someone with sharp observation skills, which allows him to sense Rommel’s cautiousness towards that Lord of Hell.

However, it’s clear that the coming presence is enough to make Asmodier choose to retreat, yet Rommel displays a completely different attitude... Facing the strong, even if the other party still holds a bottom line, the weak should still behave reverently.

From Kamente Tower’s observations of Rommel over this period, this Archmage isn’t someone who would adapt his approach according to the other’s character.

Yet, he clearly doesn’t fear the incoming Lansendel, and even casually mentions Celene similarly.

Rommel must be absolutely sure that these two deities won’t harm him, hence his attitude.

But, how should I put it... Kamente Tower can’t quite understand, Rommel has always been making speculative statements, it’s clear he hasn’t dealt with those two deities, so why is he so certain their threat level is zero?

This isn’t something that can be determined through conjecture.

”You don’t need to think too much about it.” Rommel glanced at the cautiously probing Kamente Tower, ”Haven’t you already guessed something, which is why you keep mentioning that child who spent a long time alone with me?

I indeed don’t have the status or rank to have powerful deities bypass me in their actions.

But he does.

His only concern is that everything happening in this world becomes completely isolated within it.

Now that it’s certain that the Lord of Hell can no longer control the situation, he has nothing to fear.

Even if he’s squatting in front of Asmodier eating grilled fish now, that Lord of Hell would still smile and praise how well it’s grilled.

Heh~

Though I don’t pay much attention to these families and backgrounds terrifyingly illustrious... why are you looking at me like that?

Have you seen how arrogant Glaysia is?

If it were just herself, would I be this cautious?

Her arrogance here is because she’s the Princess of Hell, not due to any Succubus Queen position of her own.

Heh~

How many dare to act against someone who can kill her?

Do you know why the Hell Devils most fear Lansendel?

He is the only one in the entire Multiverse who would carelessly and disregarding everything act against Glaysia.

The rest would just wait for Asmodier to first have problems.”

Kamente Tower found it a bit exhausting to listen, but he still understood why the one capable of seeing Delphus and Rosero matters did... it’s not that Rommel lacked the ability to see, but lacked the courage to do so.

However, that little guy with backing just like Glaysia has it.

He couldn’t help but sigh: ”Even though a Mage’s future promises unlimited possibilities, yet the innate position of demigods...”

”That part you don’t need to worry about.” Rommel said in an odd tone, ”In the Multiverse, those with such a status and position don’t exceed 10.”

”Including Glaysia?” Kamente Tower asked seriously.

”Glaysia, how should I put it... Forget it, let’s rank her tenth...” Rommel thought for a moment before speaking, ”Her status is only difficult to replace, but as long as Hell is willing to pay the price, replacement isn’t completely impossible.

It’s just that for Asmodeus, Glaysia’s existence is the most valuable.”

Kamente Tower still understood Rommel’s words... The person who impersonated Gilbert Hainarson has a status even more noteworthy than Glaysia.

Yet, this time, he was genuinely baffled.

How can someone like Glaysia, who is integral to Hell’s future, have a lower status than a child merely favored by elders?

Does it mean that Gilbert’s backing elder is even more powerful than both Hell and Asmodeus combined?

Kamente Tower glanced at Rommel, who was no longer planning to discuss the topic, pursed his mouth slightly, and softly asked, ”I’m not insisting on witnessing the entire process. Can he announce the time and outcome of the event?”

”He probably likes eating honey quite a lot. I recall you have a hive of mutated Lightwing Bees?” Rommel spoke evasively.

”Huh?” Kamente Tower said with a bit of heartache, ”My bees are raised with the purest Jade Marrow!”

”It’s not like you have to give it all away, just let the queen bee part with a hive,” Rommel looked at him in astonishment.

”Even a hundred of the purest Jade Mines might not yield a single Jade Marrow stalk!” Kamente Tower said painfully, ”I’ve never let the queen bee split the hive. Do you think I don’t want it?

I simply can’t afford to!”

”You just need to send the bees over. You don’t need to give him Jade Marrow, just remind him what they’re fed with.”

This time, Kamente Tower truly felt sour... He understood the meaning behind Rommel’s words.

However, the cherished treasures he had accumulated over millennia are mere daily commodities for the other party, effortlessly obtained, which indeed left him filled with bitterness and envy.

”Demigods...” he murmured a phrase.

”That you needn’t envy,” Rommel smiled faintly, ”Even Glaysia would only bat her eyes if she encountered him!”

”Wait, can he not help extricate you from this awkward situation?” Kamente Tower thought of their biggest predicament now.

Rommel is indeed the real leader of their faction; many people actually only heed Rommel’s words.

But now, he’s trapped in this Auxiliary Tower and can only rely on Kamente Tower to convey messages... which sometimes leads to inefficiencies.

Rommel suddenly gave a bitter smile: ”If Ruth found himself in my situation, if you had a way to help, would you assist?”

”I’m not crazy!” Kamente Tower replied resolutely, ”Such a spectacle not to watch? I help... Oh... you are indeed one of the bystanders too!”

”Compared to Lansendel, he probably prefers watching my side’s spectacle,” Rommel glanced helplessly outside the tower, ”Most likely, what he’s viewing more is all that rubbish outside my tower, rather than rushing Delphus.”

-----------------

”Teacher.” Carpenter asked seriously, sipping juice through a metal straw, ”What kind of flower is that with white petals, a white flower column, and large blooms?

It’s truly pretty, refined yet beautiful.”

”Night-blooming Cereus.” Hilbert glanced and immediately recognized what caught Carpenter’s attention, ”That flower blooms and withers in just four hours, symbolizing fleeting beauty, instant eternity, blooming solely for one, seizing an entire lifetime.

Hehe, it’s generally used to express unwavering love.”

”Oh~

While white Roses are quite beautiful too, I seem to prefer Night-blooming Cereus!” Carpenter said enviously, ”However, being able to have such a flower that only blooms for four hours appear in abundance is truly rare.”

”Just applied some preservation spells when the Cereus bloomed,” Hilbert asked puzzled, ”Don’t you have these spells already?

It’s just ten thousand blooms, gather them up, wouldn’t they appear?”

Carpenter absentmindedly looked up at her teacher, glanced at her brother engrossed in a book beside her, and a bitter smile flitted across her lips... Indeed, the thing about mages choosing apprentices who resemble themselves, is it true?

She gently shook her head and pointed to a small image retained at the top corner of the big screen: ”Teacher, it seems Delphus is encountering something.”

”With Aislin around, it would be odd if nothing happens.” Hilbert glanced casually and couldn’t resist letting out a ’huh’, his finger moved slightly, finally shifting the screen from the stationary view on Rommel Tower to Delphus and his group.

Whether it’s Rosero’s handiwork, Glaysia’s unwillingness or Fengo’s probing, the airship carrying Delphus and his group suddenly faced a surprise bone attack.

Leading a group of necromancers, their robes were ragged and torn.

What startled Hilbert was the patterns on those robes, unmistakably from the Defense Tower.

Regardless of who transformed these people into undead, they were surely old predecessors from the Defense Tower whose graves had been robbed... Back during that great war, mages from the Defense Tower mostly chose self-detonation including both body and soul.

Having these skeleton-like, black-robed beings appear before Delphus... no matter who stands behind this fellow, they’re bound to be furious.
