Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Rosero really is a very interesting Devil.

Hill can actually guess why Aislin, even though she knows leaving with him might be better for her, is still determined to stay in Sia Tower... she’s being influenced by that not-yet-fully-awakened Goddess of the Silvermoon inside her Soul.

With Aislin’s willpower, taking that Goddess’s will as her own thoughts is honestly very normal.

But in fact, of all places, Sia Tower is the worst choice for her.

Does she really think Glaysia will just leave her alone... even if that Princess of Hell thinks she’s merely another self that slipped out of her Control... has she really got no way to deal with her?

Glaysia must be confident she can suppress her at any time, that’s the only reason she dares to be this arrogant.

It’s just that right now, for the Princess of Hell, that Asmodeus’s wrath, burned out by the Blazing Fire right under her nose, is more important.

She’s not even afraid of touching that so-called remnant body of the Goddess of the Silvermoon... petty schemes and little tricks like that are something she’s never stopped doing. As long as the Lord of Hell allows her to wander this world, then as long as she doesn’t blow things past Asmodeus’s bottom line, she won’t suffer any major punishment.

At worst, she’ll just be locked up again~

Glaysia is actually a bit fearless because she has backing.

But all these little mistakes, once she personally witnesses how the Lord of Hell ends up in misfortune, will turn into her own evidence of guilt.

Asmodeus will absolutely take his anger out on her.

Originally there was still Fengo who could share a bit of the sin with her, but unfortunately, that one clearly really didn’t see it.

Of course, even if he did see it, he did enough to make people believe he hadn’t.

So in the end, only Glaysia, who even dared to gloat at the time, will be dealt with.

At this point, Glaysia letting Aislin loose, letting her run around, isn’t without her own little scheme.

She’s probably getting herself ready for being locked up again.

So Glaysia needs a body double who appears to no longer belong to her... she instead becomes that existence who doesn’t care whether Aislin is in Sia Tower or not.

Anyway, as long as she Controls that door in Aislin’s Soul which connects to her own Soul, Glaysia can descend into Aislin’s body at any time.

Even though she’s done a lot of inexplicable operations, she’s not about to forget to install this kind of backdoor.

On the contrary, it’s that not-yet-awakened Silvermoon that truly cannot leave this place around Sia Tower at all.

After all, even though Glaysia has already taken part of that remnant body out of the sealed land, she’s very likely tossed it back into that Temple again... Hill doesn’t know if others can sense it, but ever since Asmodeus shattered that bright moon, he’s been able to feel the faintly diffused Power of the Silvermoon around Sia Tower.

At first he thought it was because the damaged Silvermoon was leaking its energy into the world, but after a few days, Hill felt pale silver-blue threads slowly rising atop the White Tower, and in that oddly-shaped little rocky hill between Black Tower and White Tower, a slightly thicker thread of the Power of the Moon.

It’s obvious that even though she thinks she’s thrown all the trouble in her hands back into the Temple, Glaysia still has some left at her side.

And she hasn’t noticed a thing.

This Princess of Hell really lives as she pleases.

Moreover, when she tossed her troubles back into the Temple, she didn’t even bother to put them back in their original place, and when she left, she didn’t bother to casually shut the door either.

Maybe it’s because she thinks the Goddess of the Silvermoon of this world is already dead so thoroughly there’s not even scum left... well, to be fair, she’s even ground the Divine Crystal into slag and mush... but her way of doing things still leaves Hill speechless.

Hill feels like he’s truly being shocked once a day now: why would the daughter born of Asmodeus and Bisozeya turn out like this?

Does Hell have some problem with the two of them? Is that why it would Curse its current worldly manager this way!

Hill also knows that someone like him, who can recognize at a glance the almost imperceptibly faint Power of the Silvermoon, is extremely rare; not even Asmodeus himself is that sensitive.

Even though he bears the dual Souls of Angel and Devil, it’s the same.

Asmodeus is sensitive to desire and life; his perception of nature and Divine Power is still rather coarse.

Of course, if he appeared in this world personally, he wouldn’t be unable to sense it, but right now he’s still out there circling around with Lansendel!

This really is fate: what has to come will always come.

The power he can’t sense is practically a beacon of light for Celene, who is far away at an unknown number of light-years’ distance.

Of course, the one who’s currently most sensitive to and most in urgent need of this power is that Goddess of the Silvermoon whose remaining instinct lingers deep in Aislin’s Soul.

If Aislin doesn’t leave, she will definitely die a miserable death.

The day Glaysia tries to open the backdoor and seize her Soul will be the day she dies.

That Goddess of the Silvermoon absolutely will not allow Glaysia to succeed... can the difficulty of fighting Aislin for her Soul be compared to fighting the Princess of Hell for it?

Even if she hasn’t fully recovered by then, she will still choose to break out and struggle against Glaysia.

And for Aislin, the vessel, it’s simply impossible for her to survive the Soul clash between those two.

She doesn’t have that kind of ability.

Even with Hill’s reminder, even though she’d been using all sorts of methods lately to strengthen her Soul Power, it was still impossible.

With how fragile her Soul was, Hill even felt she wasn’t as good as his student Carpenter.

But even after realizing all this, Hill still didn’t interfere with Aislin’s choice... For him, maybe Hilbert’s identity wasn’t that important anymore, but to expose himself for Aislin’s sake, he really had no such intention.

He had never been the kind of good person who was willing to sacrifice himself for others.

Just opening his mouth to give a reminder was already the greatest kindness he could offer a stranger.

So he was genuinely quite surprised... when he heard that Aislin chose to follow behind Rosero and leave.

At that moment, Hill truly developed the greatest interest in this Duke of Demons.

Two days earlier he’d still been wondering whether Rosero had already prepared himself to ”escape misfortune and join the lucky ones”... shedding his pitch‑black Devil shell and turning into a Golden Light–shining Angel before daring to take such a huge risk!

Yet in the end, he actually chose to take Aislin with him.

Indeed, this could even slightly explain his desertion at the last minute... If Aislin, the backup piece prepared by Glaysia, had Rosero keeping an eye on her, it would definitely be a bit better.

Even facing the Princess of Hell, he could stand his ground with a clear conscience.

But Hill didn’t think he made this choice truly for Glaysia’s sake.

At first Hill didn’t think he would take Aislin away, of course because, compared to the high-and-mighty Glaysia, Rosero absolutely knew that Aislin’s body was already out of control.

Even if Aislin had some backup move, it wouldn’t be easy for her to open a backdoor and seize this Soul.

With Rosero’s slick nature, how could he possibly leave while carrying such a heavy responsibility?

Yet Rosero made a move that even Hill hadn’t expected.

Hilbert squatted by his desk, drawing circles for a long time before finally figuring out the Duke of Demons’ hidden calculations: Lansendel was a thoroughly ”the sky explodes with a bang, and I make my dazzling entrance” kind of chuunibyou God.

Whatever that ”Young Master” of the Undead Tribe did, Lansendel was basically his behavior under a hundred‑times magnifying glass.

Therefore, Rosero must have been confident that, when he unexpectedly ran into that Chosen of the Lord of Dawn, and even realized he was summoning the Lord of Dawn, he could prompt Glaysia to make a move against Aislin.

Between Purifying a Duke of Demons and saving a Human who was in the middle of being invaded by a Princess of Hell, and who might even be related to the Silvermoon, Lansendel would definitely choose to save Aislin.

If Rosero had been some heinous Great Devil, or a rather well‑known Grand Duke of Hell, then Lansendel might still have chased him down.

But he was none of those things.

So Lansendel wouldn’t have any particular interest in insisting on killing him.

As long as he sacrificed this avatar of his lady master, Rosero would be able to find a sliver of hope and return to Hell.

Moreover, Glaysia wouldn’t even hate him for it... After all, the one who truly caused the problem was her avatar.

Tsk tsk, for someone this shrewd and capable to only manage to become the palace grand steward under a Glaysia‑type figure in Hell—Devils really don’t have an easy life!

Hilbert fiddled with the Crystal Ball in his hand.

After mulling it over again and again, although the odd ”Path of Destiny” made up of Rosero, Delphus and Aislin was very interesting, Hilbert still didn’t want to tear off his disguise just yet.

So he could only choose other ways to watch this spectacle.

The swarm of tiny flying insects Hill had placed in Sia Town some time ago finally had a use now.

Especially those exquisite little mosquitoes the size of a grain of rice that he had placed near the residence of a certain Nicholson Mage’s family member, they were... Even though the enemy they found wasn’t a real enemy, they turned out to have an even better use.

There was nothing he could do about it—although Hilbert had found that betrayer who had given him a shock... in a sense, this person also indirectly proved that Delphus couldn’t really be considered a true enemy.

No, it’s that the Tower of Dark Enigma couldn’t be considered a true enemy, but if Hilbert hadn’t been able to withstand Delphus’s methods, his own ending wouldn’t have been very pretty either.

The Hilbert of today was free and unrestrained, valued wherever he went; even the most annoying Aislin had to be a bit polite when facing him.

But if he couldn’t withstand those external methods and could only huddle beside Ruth to hide?

Would Aislin show him a pleasant face?

Even if Gilbert wouldn’t lose his life, his days... would definitely be miserable.

Yet that person from the Nicholson House—the one who chose to pass information to Delphus—was actually a true member of the Nicholson Legitimate Line.

This was a judgment Hill made only after observing carefully many times.

In other words, from the very beginning, Delphus targeting him, Hilbert, had been a tacitly agreed‑upon game where everyone except him knew what was going on.
