Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Hilbert suddenly realized his mistake... Delphus’s anger seemed somewhat divided.

He was indeed angry.

But the level of that anger differed significantly from Hilbert’s previous estimations of him.

What made Delphus angry was that someone was trying to block his path and test his stance in this way, rather than the obvious bones from the Defense Tower.

Sure enough, Hill had been filled with disgust for Delphus from the start, and it wasn’t because he was misled.

As a Child of Nature very sensitive to human nature, Hill rarely misjudged people’s goodwill and malice.

Delphus’s malice towards him was so genuine back then... Hill almost thought he had met the best actor in the Multiverse!

Of course, there’s also the possibility that Delphus was still acting, but at this point, such an act was no longer important.

Anyway, after Delphus used that ’Order Jewel’, whatever great life ambitions he had in the Sia Tower were thoroughly ruined.

Being so insidious and cunning, after being treated so coldly by the Sia Tower, it’s impossible he doesn’t understand what mistake he made.

But even after realizing belatedly that the ’Order Jewel’ he held was the biggest trouble, Delphus didn’t even try to get rid of it!

He didn’t make a single move.

Hilbert didn’t know how the one who gave him that thing brainwashed him at the time, but Delphus showed no sign of giving it up to gain Glaysia’s favor.

Although those in Sia Tower absolutely wouldn’t dare accept his sincere ’contribution’, and would surely strongly reject it... but his doing nothing is the biggest problem.

After all, before that, he always acted very obsequiously.

The reason Hilbert deduced that Delphus himself had a problem was due to his unusual silence.

Although Hill didn’t understand so-called human nature that well, since ancient times, in any country, traitors who realize their masters might abandon them usually go mad.

They will stop at nothing, sacrificing everything to regain their master’s favor... because they know that once abandoned, their past sins will certainly return to haunt them hundreds or thousands of times over.

No one will help them... even those on their master’s side will surely look down on them.

They can only choose to remain useful to their masters, thus they never care about their own image.

Even if Delphus is a Ninth Ring Mage, it makes no difference.

Hence, his silence made Hill suspect his identity.

Presumably, those in Sia Tower thought the same... Devils are the ones who understand how traitors from various races behave the most.

Therefore, they took out these bones from the Defense Tower’s ancestors to test Delphus.

But their approach seems to confirm that they no longer care about this world’s future; rather, they want to verify whether certain habits of theirs can still be used.

Realizing this point, Hilbert immediately determined that the mastermind behind this attack was likely Fengo.

Only a Hell Prosecutor, who needs to interact with all the Prime Material Planes under devil control, would care most about whether their method of gauging people’s hearts has lost its effectiveness.

An error in one world doesn’t matter much, but since it’s the result of Lansendel’s follower... and the Lord of Dawn always likes to tout his subordinates’ achievements.

Lansendel will definitely proclaim this success throughout the entire Multiverse.

Moreover, Lansendel would be delighted to share this successful example with others... of course, for a price.

The people of the Lord of Dawn’s church have always been good at making money.

For Fengo, this definitely represents a very troublesome future, so he must prepare in advance.

Hilbert’s first reaction after realizing this was: Asmodeus has already hinted to this Hell Prosecutor that they are ready to abandon the plan to sacrifice this world to resurrect Bisozeya.

Otherwise, Fengo absolutely wouldn’t dare to do such a terrifying thing at this time.

Mages, especially high-level Mages, whose bones can be used by Necromancers, are well-known facts.

So, it’s not that people can’t do it, but doing so would anger all high-level Mages.

No one can ensure eternal peace after death... Magic Towers aren’t eternal either.

Despite its strength, the Defense Tower also ended up failing!

The most important thing is that if Mages don’t self-destruct before death, it’s hard to even burn their bodies to ashes afterward.

Bones soaked in various Elements have extremely high magic resistance.

Unless aided by particularly high-level materials, their bones can basically stay buried in the Earth for tens of thousands of years without decomposing.

Mages actually understand worldly affairs... even if they leave these materials to their students, whether those students are willing to use them to give these masters peace is uncertain.

So, the only thing they can do when encountering such matters is to unite and kill whoever dares to go against the world’s norms first.

The Tower of Necromancy can only survive in a corner, not just due to Sia Tower’s pressure but also because of other high-level mages’ heartfelt ostracism.

Sia Tower doesn’t fear being besieged like this, but they’ve always put on a facade for Bisozeya’s resurrection, typically pushing the boundaries for mages in this world.

They want these mages to, under pressure, reach the point of the Tower of Dark Enigma.

It’s not necessary for these people to sincerely submit to Sia Tower, just that they must accept their fate of being ruled, turning Bisozeya into the Main God they worship later, that’s enough.

If it weren’t for wanting Bisozeya to be resurrected as Bisozeya, not turning into the Creator God of this world... human faith is so terrifying, Asmodeus wouldn’t have gone through so much trouble.

He must have these powerful souls willing to pray to Bisozeya while making them fully aware that Bisozeya isn’t the deity who can save them, but an invader from outside, the Queen of the Lord of Devils.

Thus, when Fengo unscrupulously directed the old mages’ corpses from the Defense Tower, Asmodeus must have chosen to give up on plans for this world... mages aren’t foolish enough to accept such a Sia Tower as their savior.

So does it mean Asmodeus probably can’t continue?

Lansendel, are you almost here?

Why so quickly? Did Celene intervene from the start?

If they hadn’t wanted to sweep those worlds, they would’ve stopped tangling with the Lord of Hell long ago.

Asmodeus might have realized that, so he simply had Fengo clean up and tidy the aftermath?

Hilbert suddenly felt a slight headache... though he wasn’t afraid of the Great Peacock, he felt his identity might be exposed.

That guy, once sensing his aura, certainly wouldn’t secretively come to find him.

Most fearful of all, Lansendel might not be coming alone.

He took a deep breath... then decided to discard all this and focus on the immediate matters.

The Devils merely gave up on this sacrifice, not this world.

Having gained such a significant advantage through years of hard work, Lansendel’s arrival merely adds an enemy to them, without compelling them to withdraw completely.

They indeed fear Lansendel, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have their minions confront his subordinates.

No matter how unwilling Asmodeus is to clash with Lansendel, he wouldn’t let him brazenly kill all his subordinates.

So at most, Glaysia and Fengo would retreat, but Sia Tower would continue to exist.

Hmm... it’s hard for Hill to predict what the Styx would choose to do then.

The Styx just wants its territory unaffected... once the local Styx tributary in this world resumes normalcy, it likely won’t concern itself with anything above ground.

But the Red Dragon and his daughter, having invested so much, are now bound to this world, so it’s impossible for them to retreat easily.

Especially as they still believe they can hold Gilbert, this world’s Son of Fortune, in their grip.

It looks like there are many future battles to be fought.

Hmm... Hilbert suddenly had a foreboding premonition.
