Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Rommel, thinking about this, looked at ’Gilbert’, whose smile was nearly frozen on his face: ”I’ve heard Mage Gilbert is quite fond of crafting strange objects and engraving magic arrays.

I have a few excellent magic array diagrams here, would you like to learn from me?”

He looked at ’Gilbert’, who raised his eyebrow instantly, and added with a smile: ”Since you have to follow me recently anyway, why not lend me a hand?

The unique magic arrays and strange objects we have here, even if I can’t actively pass them on to you, I can at least let you see the creation process.

How much you can learn depends on your own ability.

How about it?

Want to give it a try?

I’ve heard Archmage Ruth mention that your talent is quite impressive.”

Hill, of course, understood Rommel’s special pauses; he could even hear the elusive gritting of teeth in that tone... This man must have thought about that uniquely designed airship.

”I also think my talent is quite impressive,” Hilbert answered candidly and happily, ”but when learning to craft strange objects, I don’t do it as quickly and need to practice repeatedly.

Just like now, if I were to make another airship, it would definitely be perfect.”

Rommel had to pause his steps due to such an arrogant provocation.

However, the initiative is indeed in the hands of the Little Bear... He could only endure it.

Yet, even though Hill was provocative, he did not think about whether or not to help him repair the Magic Tower, which made Rommel realize the complexity of the situation.

This kid surely has something important to discuss with him.

Damned... Is the first thing to do, when entering the tiger’s den, really to make himself a rabbit’s nest?

Rommel’s years of tension seemed to have been consumed over the past couple of days.

What could make this bear cub so worried? Surely, Asmodeus could not truly threaten Teraxil’s existence, right?

How could it be possible... If Rommel had been somewhat worried before, upon seeing this bear beside him, all his concerns swiftly shifted to figuring out how to naturally extract himself from the sight of that crazy Princess of Hell.

Heh~ He would not believe that when the presence of this bear suddenly disappears from the Multiverse, the group of protective elders behind him wouldn’t be anxious.

If they’re not anxious, it has to be because they know where he is and have ample reason to believe the little bear might just suffer a bit, but it wouldn’t threaten his life.

Judging by Rommel’s observation of the Earth Bears over the years, the way those big bears discipline their children is fairly hands-off; as long as the children don’t violate the principles of their race, harm the foundation of the earth, and know how to respect those worthy of respect, they won’t interfere with whether they suddenly get a whim to jump into a volcano to test the thickness of their skin.

In any case, those who end up burned beyond recognition and stuck hiding at home until their fur grows back before going out, aren’t their problem.

It’s only by knowing pain that they’ll be honest next time... Of course, this kind of behavior can only be used by such thick-skinned bears that truly only get their fur burned jumping into a volcano.

Although Hill is clearly the type that’s spoiled... Rommel also knows that this child deserves the dote of those bears, but no matter how much attention is paid to this child, the nature of the Earth Bears won’t change.

And the Goddess of the Earth, who formed such a personality for the Earth Bears, even including that Cosmic World Tree, probably are also very free-spirited beings.

So, even though the appearance of this bear made him embarrassed and awkward, Rommel was somewhat relieved.

But what’s going on now?

Even if this Little Bear doesn’t understand how meticulous the love from his elders is, he should also understand that the lords of the Elemental Realm, who have a contract with him and can appear in his valley territory in Teraxil to communicate with Agleya, will surely relay the fact that he’s suddenly cut off the connection with the Elemental Realm.

The Goddess of the Sea indeed loves Hill greatly, even willingly positioning herself as a junior before the Goddess of the Earth.

Rommel knows there must be things in this that he is unaware of, but the reality displayed is as such.

So, upon seeing Hill’s tension, his heartbeat truly skipped a few seconds.

Rommel naturally does not fear opposing the Lord of Hell, his willingness to enter the Sia Tower naturally means he was psychologically prepared.

But he’s very concerned that this bear won’t tell him that the Undead Tribe is about to arrive, right?

To Rommel, even having Asmodeus appear in front of him in the next second would not be as horrifying as the Undead Tribe.

No matter what Hill’s behavior implied, his first reaction was only this infinite terror.

So, with matters on his mind, Rommel decisively found Kamente Tower, and got two storage rings from him to give to Hilbert, who agreed to help, as a reward... Anyway, the ones in Kamente Tower’s hand couldn’t even be distributed to his other students, they wouldn’t be used.

Might as well use them to support the flair of their transaction.

And then he quickly commenced his construction of the Magic Tower... and took advantage of the fact that everyone knew he somewhat didn’t want a romantic connection with a certain beautiful Tower Master, urging Kamente Tower to perfect the foundation array of the Magic Tower.

Rommel had to admit, it was fortunate that the First Tower Master on this side of the Tower of Dark Enigma was Ruth.

Although this guy isn’t exactly a good person... having arrived earlier than Bixir, of course, he saw more, but this guy is indeed quite willing to maintain his image and keep his bottom line.

Heh heh~ Someone who pretends for a lifetime can enter the Divine Kingdom of benevolent deities, as long as he continues pretending, he’s a good person.

As for whether he will eventually reveal that mask, what does that have to do with him, an outsider, right?

Moreover, Rommel actually knows a bit about it, Ruth is indeed quite sincere in being good to his student.

It probably has something to do with his past experiences, he’s very sensitive to his sect’s faction.

Rommel used to think about exploring these things, but now he has completely lost interest... the only thing that makes him happy is that Ruth, seeing him a bit anxious, quickly completed the energy resonance array linking the three main towers together.

However, Ruth’s female student named Aislin seems a bit off... when she came to see ’Gilbert’, she saw Rommel looking a bit anxious and directly advised him not to worry since Glaysia would take at least three months to come out next time.

Most likely, it would be half a year.

Rommel’s surprise was eased in the face of the unusual respect the white-robed mages at Sia Tower showed Aislin... even though he already knew a bit about Aislin’s involvement with the White Robe Faction.

But without seeing it with his own eyes, he could only believe what his informants said, that Aislin was a spy arranged by Rosero beside Ruth.

Now, he can be completely sure that’s not the case.

Devils and humans are indeed different.

Their hierarchy is strict, and one duke’s subordinate would never allow other duke’s subordinates to show such humility.

Anyway, Hill was not surprised by Aislin’s behavior, so he must know the inside story.

Wait a little while longer, he has the patience for that.

Although a bit surprised at Rommel’s reluctance, the mages of the Tower of Dark Enigma were quite willing to help this promising student of the Kamente Tower.

After all, they were indeed properly coming over to Sia Tower, but if... Rommel really became Glaysia’s male pet, then they might get to rise alongside him.

Although mages typically have thick skin, it’s not to the extent of shamelessness.

So with full cooperation from all aspects, it took almost only a week, and the tall main tower of Kamente Tower was already completed.

Taking advantage of everyone being outside watching the main magic array of Kamente Tower being activated, Rommel dragged ’Gilbert’ into a room where the main energy pool was located... they were there to monitor the formation of the magic array.

After all, because Ruth and Nicholson’s main tower had been activated long ago, the energy pool was very abundant, and when linked to this main tower, it would cause a massive energy surge.

And only Rommel knew, to create a space where they could talk, how much he had modified the magic array.

He deliberately increased this energy surge several times... doing so, though it would greatly impact the building materials of the main tower, it would also, correspondingly, allow the entire Magic Tower to immediately become one.

Anyone wanting to attack this tower wouldn’t be able to easily lift the top like ’Gilbert’s’ tower.

It was something everyone knew, Hill had mentioned it to him during construction.

But Rommel could tell that he omitted some more important details... like the heavy emphasis Hill put on the great fire.

Clearly, this had to wait to be discussed in a more secretive place.

However, the predicament that ’Gilbert’ faced made Rommel’s choice more understandable... if he really insisted on ignoring that Glaysia, the sturdier his Magic Tower, the better.

To this end, Rommel even built two subsidiary towers along with it.

Although he didn’t care about the materials of this world originally, he couldn’t show his indifference.

Rommel, although very good at acting, found it truly annoying to perform such a big play under such anxious emotions.

Fortunately, everything was about to be resolved.

Yet, the little bear cub in front of him still pretended to be confused!

”Rommel Mage, how long can such a large energy surge last?”

”One hour.” Rommel could only swallow his anger.

Hilbert nodded in satisfaction: although brief, it was enough.

In the future, he could also use such powerful energy surges to create a vacuum-like environment... just needing to remember to let low-rank mages leave.

Also, for those young mages who don’t know how to close their mana exchange with the outside world, having them stay away was important too.

Then, Hilbert timed it right and told Rommel everything he knew.

However, what he couldn’t have foreseen was that compared to the major issue of how Glaysia created a completely extraneous doppelganger, Rommel was more focused on Lansendel’s whereabouts.
