Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1337: Chapter 1128: How Anmur Handles the ‘Brainwashing Machine’

Although Hill didn’t care about the Church of Heim, he couldn’t help but fall into doubt.

He knocked on the table: ”List, ask the Undead Tribe if there’s any news about the Heim follower from Deepwater City, Olasco Barso.”

”Hmm?” Celene responded keenly, ”Do you think he’s in Anmur?”

”How could it be?” Hill chuckled, ”Compared to Anmur, isn’t Chult more likely? After all, it’s also one of Anmur’s colonies, although there are only a few Deepwater Harbors.

I should have thought of it earlier, Heim back then choked out the native deities of the Mazteck continent to protect the colonial believers... These believers may not be Anmur people, but those Slave Masters they protect should come from Anmur.

It’s just that Anmur has always openly propagated Valkin and Cyric, so I overlooked this matter.

Ha~ also, the naval high-ups can pursue Valkin; how dare they let soldiers do the same?

If the army speaks for everything with money... do they raise the prices before going to war?

Only teachings like those of Heim can be used... While the army of the God of Justice is the most combat-ready, Anmur probably lacks the courage.”

Celene blinked her eyes: ”Anmur dares to invade Chult? But that’s a gods’ agreement!

Ah... wait, that Parliament of Anmur, always claims to be non-religious... are they really planning to replace Mazteck with Chult?

Are they crazy?

Subjugated under the Flame Mountain Range is indeed the Misty Domain!

Dandell, that snake... once released, it would indeed swallow the Sun!”

”You should say, no wonder AO released Amanata.” Shaer chuckled, ”If Dandell is really released, with Amanata around, the Sun will only be the second unfortunate one.”

”Hmm, but you have to admit, that’s a good reason.” Celene pondered for a while before speaking, ”It can make Cyric cause less trouble, make Lansendel temporarily not consider snatching the Sun Priesthood from Amanata, and even let you ignore him for the time being.

Right? The hidden revenge god in Chult, Aishdo?

Why are you unaware of the news from over there?”

Shaer gave her a steady glance, snorted coldly: ”Chult originally repelled external forces, the Magicplague, although reducing those cities’ defensive power significantly, made the chaos in the jungle even stronger.

Aishdo’s aspect, I initially had no Divine Power invested, and now can only maintain the valley’s mystery, having no time to watch what those human port cities are up to.”

”Indeed, Aishdo is so ugly, yet you even take it as your aspect!

Eh? You never emphasized how little Divine Power was invested in any aspect before~

Last time at Candlekeep, no wonder you felt so uneasy about Aishdo’s shadow being exposed... I thought Oghma loved to babble but wouldn’t affect hitting you!

Click click~

Turns out my sister has a little girlish heart too~

Even knowing how to show a better side in front of the loved one~” Celene let out a small scream, her little face held in her two hands tilted slightly, her slender fingers tapping a joyful rhythm on her face, ”Ah~ love~ love!

Really a great thing, fate set by heaven, love uncontrollable, so happy~”

”Shut up!” Shaer said coldly, ”What does that have to do with it? It’s you... full of junk that makes you think that way?

Hill, tell me, when you heard I have little Divine Power invested in Aishdo, what did you think?”

Lansendel sympathetically glanced at the Lord of Agleya City... he knew these two wouldn’t stay peaceful together for long.

Didn’t see he had no reaction even being maliciously slandered by Celene?

When did he want to rob the Priesthood from Amanata?

What he wants is a clean Sun!

Amanata grabbed over... Lansendel though aware sometimes he overreacts, still disdains where the Sun God has been.

Only the dead Amanata is a good god... one that can resurrect isn’t.

The Lord of Dawn would only choose to leave such a disgusting thing... not everyone is like Rose, unbothered by life or death.

Hill slightly curled the corner of his mouth, he indeed respects the twin goddesses... hmm... respect, but not to the point where he doesn’t dare speak truth, after all looking at Shaer’s reaction, his male intuition definitely wasn’t as accurate as Celene’s aura: ”My first reaction is, Lady of the Night has temporarily given up opening the Misty Gate, the thought of returning the world to Darkness.”

”Hmm?” Celene blinked, then pursed her lips, ”Come on~ I don’t have such a kind sister.

She might not descend herself, but Aishdo’s appearance is bound to act according to her initial will.

It’s just that the Magicplague has reshuffled everything over there, right? Shaer?”

Shaer had no intention of responding to her.

Between the sisters, as long as Shaer doesn’t make a move, there won’t be any fights... Celene has always been quite thick-skinned.

The matter of Chult can be put aside for now... Even if Toril’s sun were swallowed right before him, Hill would hardly feel anything.

At worst, let Celene go and pick another celestial body... It couldn’t be worse than the current one, right?

Hill feels that the Toril Gods’ indifferent attitude towards Chult likely stems from this, be it humans or deities, who doesn’t have a mindset of wishful thinking?

He is more focused on the Undead Tribe’s movements on the three giant screens simultaneously displayed, even if List went to gather news for half a day and hasn’t returned, Hill didn’t care much.

If Heim is really foolish enough to get involved in Anmur’s turmoil, he is probably destined to die in the disaster of the Magicplague.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing, it conveniently allows him to meet his former lover who fell due to the Dawn Calamity, and float around with her in the Stellar Realm for a while... Wasn’t he always so obsessed that he gave up all tender feelings, not caring about how his actions hurt others and deities?

However, the reason for dying under ambition is much more comforting than dying in disgrace due to competing with Tyr over the transformed beauty, Cyric.

Hill doesn’t know if Cyric hates Heim in particular because he cut down Black Eye, giving Midnight a chance to rise... As for Tyr, well, Iron Man naturally blooms brightly, and though everyone was surprised, it’s something to laugh off.

But Heim... Eternally cherishing a lover and even resolutely rejecting Shuni’s amorous advances, Heim falling into this trap is quite a joke.

Hill glanced sideways at the ground before looking at the scene on the giant screen with a smile: ”The Undead Tribe has surrounded Asterkara... The Masked Mage Society then? Did they not come out to stop them? It’s their capital after all!”

Anmur’s Masked Mage Society, the big shots behind it certainly aren’t anything good, but the lower-level mages are different... Brainwashing is something these evil forces on Toril are always skilled at.

Moreover, the more evil the forces, the better they know in which direction brainwashing is most likely to succeed, after all, people are always more aware of their enemies.

For instance, the lower-level mages of the Masked Mage Society deeply believe that only they are the true mages, guardians of Anmur’s order.

All foreign mages are seen as destroyers of their nation’s order, and only by killing them all can the nation be saved.

The reasoning is so absurd that outsiders think they are ill, but most members of the Masked Mage Society genuinely believe they are undertaking a noble endeavor by killing their fellow mages.

”The quantity of the Undead Tribe is so overwhelming that Anmur’s few families have given up leaving behind a few stubborn foolish kids to save face.” Celene scoffed, ”Brainwashing, huh? Who wouldn’t leave instructions to obey all orders unconditionally?

The reason the Twin Towers have always been the most powerful Mage Towers in Anmur is that this control center is the crystal ball at the top of the tower.

Though once opened, it can’t be used again for a hundred years, but... huh, isn’t the nation already destroyed?”

”That thing... after being used once, can it be taken down?” Shaer asked with interest.

”If you really want to snatch this thing...” Celene looked at her sister warily, ”The Toril Gods would likely descend together to stop you.

Including me and Lansendel.”

Although using the crystal made by the Eye Demon Lord isn’t that simple... otherwise, Anmur’s Masked Mage Society would have long replaced the Navy as the strongest force.

But Shaer... lacks nothing but time.

As for her temporary abandonment of world-ending thoughts... who dares ensure she’ll be sweet forever?

Moreover, when in love, she might be sweet as sugar, but what if they broke up?

Just the thought is chilling.

”Tsk~” Shaer rolled her eyes slightly, ”I was just curious, never thought of getting it.”

Then she slightly stood up: ”How to destroy this thing?”

”The Dawn Stone can do it.” Lansendel quickly spoke, ”The Undead Tribe has several pieces! On the Troll Mountains, there’s a Dawn Tower, where using three Dawn Stones simultaneously can summon Dawnfire, capable of directly burning it to ashes.

I think the Undead Tribe can easily manage that.”

Hill blinked, it seems Lansendel clearly knows who is really asking the question.
