Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1315: Chapter 1106: The Undead Tribe’s Goal Isn’t Killing Enemies

Sebek and his crocodile army are actually quite difficult to deal with.

Anything connected to a Totem God usually has some toxins, or even necromantic power, which is quite normal.

In Toril, it’s rare for anyone to do a thankless task; adding insult to injury is more their daily routine.

To eliminate a demigod entrenched in the Great Swamp for the safety of the people?

What a joke?

Where are the people? People are only found in safe places.

Otherwise, as the only remaining and arguably abandoned deity of Mulholland, Sebek would not have been devoured by Marla through the Beast Worship Cult’s line until the Years of Turmoil.

But sometimes, it must be said, money can solve many problems.

This detachable armor, deemed impractical by the Toril people and concocted by gnomes to swindle money, is very useful against these powerful crocodiles that not only cause continuous bleeding when they bite but also carry lycanthropy virus.

However, such aftereffects as lycanthropy, which the Toril people avoid like the plague, are unattainable for the Undead Tribe... they are not flesh and blood.

Bleeding damage to them is merely a DEBUFF. With so many priests, except for the unlucky ones who are blindsided and end up playing group shielding spells, the vast majority can be saved with a few shouts.

Although Sebek’s power is strong and his bite is fierce, it really doesn’t compare to the huge Blue Bear.

It’s only about the same strength as two Ancient White Dragons, and their armor can completely withstand it.

The Undead Tribe is not genuinely naive; when gnomes dare to slogan about resisting giant dragons, they will naturally bring dragons for testing upon delivery.

Therefore, the gnome equipment masters in Agleya City didn’t earn much from the Undead Tribe... after all, they habitually take advantage, but all fell short in front of a series of White Dragon inspectors.

Armor that failed to resist adult dragons to Ancient Dragons, torn and bitten through by White Dragons, was all returned.

Though gnomes are notorious for false advertising... encountering such situations, they can only concede.

After all, the Elfen City Guards won’t intervene on their behalf for such minor matters as exaggerated advertising, to fend off the troublesome Undead Tribe.

At most, help these gnomes contact Mirabar and Mithril Hall, or even some dwarves in the Underdark, to purchase sturdier minerals.

Because of the not-so-ordinary position of the dwarf leader in Agleya City, most dwarves are still willing to lend a hand for such small favors.

So, in a way, although Agleya’s relationship with human cities isn’t very close, its relations with so-called non-human nations are rather decent.

Smaller and weaker races tend to be more united since survival is crucial.

A friendly faction that can help sustain their lives will be genuinely appreciated... and this gratitude will be very sincere, remaining stable until they become stronger than the other party.

Therefore, if the Toril people, who think the armor on the Undead Tribe is quite useful, are also tempted to buy a set, they really need to consider it carefully... at least find a gnome alchemy master who can’t easily run away.

But sometimes, some well-known ’gnome masters’ may not even have used a wrench and have ’slip away’ as their greatest skill.

And the timing for using this skill generally depends on whether the buyers get the chance to come back and settle accounts with him.

Edna carefully observed for a while and determined that unless Sebek could pull in a stronger ally, he’d have to choose an opportune moment to escape.

From the fact that the big crocodile was so rushed, even risking exposing itself to insist on blocking the Undead Tribe’s landing on the island, Edna was a bit suspicious if there was something on the island that hadn’t been evacuated in time.

She turned to ask ’Chattering’: ”Can I increase the power level of my Ice Blade Domain right now?”

Since it was converted from the Shattering Palm, this spell only shows the power of an Eighth Ring Spell... but Edna can totally make its lethality comparable to a Ninth Ring Spell.

Though it seems to rely on the auxiliary ability of the Ein Stone, in reality, even if ordinary mages use the Ein Stone, the spell effect they produce is just barely Ninth Ring.

And Edna... even real Ninth Ring Mages probably don’t have as much destructive power as she does.

’Chattering’ blinked: ”Edna, have you forgotten? We’re fighting so grandly and tragically, not because the enemy is so hateful, but because Old Dog needs time to negotiate with those grand temples of Toril.

Though troublesome, just think about the benefits you can gain later... once Hidden Town has a share in that mine, why worry about the tolls?”

Edna suddenly froze.

While considering the future of Toril and the path of the Goddess of Magic, the Undead Tribe is thinking about how to cause a big explosion, attract all sorts of attention, right?

For them, Sebek’s flamboyant performance is the sign of a truly good enemy... that’s why they didn’t hesitate to let go of the useless Ambori.

Exactly, who in Toril would care about how Ambori died?

But an outsider like Sebek, who is clearly ill-intentioned towards Toril, is enough to attract the attention of most with long-term vision... especially those mages who do not appreciate Mulholland’s hardline style... onto the matter here.

After all, the Pharaoh Pantheon always liked to turn all mortals within their sight into slaves... including mages who cannot resist.

While most mages aren’t exactly good people either, there is still a significant gap between them and the slave masters.

At least when a mage sees a mortal, even if he wants to turn them into an experimental subject, he sees a person, at least a life.

In the eyes of a slave master, a dog might even be more valuable than a person.

Few mages would want to return to the era of Imasca ten thousand years ago... even if that was a powerful Mage Kingdom.

But from those divine artifacts that turned lower-level mages into puppets, it’s clear that Imasca’s junior mages probably lived worse than Sel’s Red Robe Mage Apprentices.

Finally, Edna, having come to her senses, shook her head with a smile: ”Then this guy might run away. I suspect there’s something on Ningbrol Island that he wants to protect.”

”Do you think Ambori would know what it is?” ’Chattering’ sneaked up to Edna, lowering his voice to ask her.

”He should have some idea... unless they’re not going by sea route.

But that’s almost impossible, as all other transmission methods besides their star disc on Ningbrol Island have been banned.

Though the Mulholland Pantheon has decent strength, they wouldn’t dare use such strong power to draw attention sneakily.” Even though she didn’t know what he was doing, Edna couldn’t help but lower her voice, joining ’Chattering’ behind some armored knight, whispering.

Edna suddenly realized and responded: ”What?”

Then, under ’Chattering’s exaggerated wink and gesture indicating, she quietly asked: ”Ambori... could she not have left?”

”Where could she possibly go?” ’Chattering’ pointed to the east: ”One meter away, it’s all Agleya’s territory.

The Moonshadow Archipelago to the south, it’s filled with the Chosen of immense divine power right now.

The north... Ah, Olypher has already fully sided with Agleya.

Further west, does she plan to directly embrace Talos and become just a face there?

If she doesn’t want to die with that crocodile, doesn’t want to find Talos, and doesn’t want to sacrifice her only remaining avatar, would she not naturally come to us?”

But however much Edna thought, she couldn’t make sense of it.

With the most sincere tone, she respectfully asked ’Chattering’: ”But wasn’t it Agleya that made her so miserable?”

How could Ambori’s mortal enemies not be the Undead Tribe closely associated with Agleya City!

”You still don’t understand the Evil Faction.” ’Chattering’ raised an eyebrow, smiling, ”The one who pushes them to a dead end becomes the boss.

The ones who give them a chance to live are seen as bean brains.

The Evil Faction only behaves when they have nowhere to go, yet if given even a slight opportunity, they would hit the person granting them the chance with a sucker punch.

If not for a character like Ambori, why would we conversate with her.”

”Can’t you avoid using Old Dog’s sayings to show off?” The knight standing in front of them spoke in a muffled voice... emerging from the armor, the voice sounded somewhat distorted, making it hard for Edna to identify who it was.

”Sui Chen?” ’Chattering’s expression showed no change after being exposed, only raising his voice slightly, ”What are you doing here instead of being a shield up front?”

”My task was originally to protect Rainfall.” ’Sui Chen’ replied nonchalantly, ”But didn’t he die even earlier than Baldy!

Sanda King let me come over to watch Edna.

Though in principle nothing should happen... the Sanda King doesn’t trust those two words at all.”

Edna instantly brightened up, turning her head to smile at the Priest Corps atop the cabin, she lightly swung her fist-formed left hand, tucking a strand of long hair behind her ear.

Her brown curls, tossed by the endless blizzard, highlighted her radiant and beautiful smiling face.

Standing atop the cabin, with one foot on a half-collapsed mast, the ’Old Age Striking King’ had been watching Edna attentively, and naturally noticed this.

The petite female priest tilted her head, waved gently at Edna, and made a cautious gesture, signaling her to pay attention to the battlefield.

Edna turned her head, her expression solemn, extending her right hand, controlling her Ice Blade Domain to move towards the leaping Sebek, but softly asked: ”Where is Ambori now? Who is talking with her?”

”On a small island in the north.” ’Chattering’ replied cheerfully, ”Old Dog called for the Road Eunuch.”
