Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1333: Chapter 1124: The Use of the Last-Era Clan

Facing the vast white sea before him, even the usually adaptable ’Snow Cloud Peak’ couldn’t help but be taken aback.

Indeed, in accordance with his country’s old tradition, during such national battles, the first round of cannon fire is not aimed at the people on the ship, but at the ship’s propulsion, sails, and the location of weapons... This not only breaks the enemy’s combat power, but also undermines the morale of some novice soldiers, causing chaos on the battlefield. Most importantly, it can prevent some key enemies from escaping.

But he truly didn’t expect that the Anmur Navy, which dared claim its combat power ranked third strongest in all of Toril, would... be so vulnerable.

A familiar feeling of frustration welled up, and he suddenly resonated with military leaders from some countries at this moment... At least let me fight a bit more!

Indeed, it was a win, but he couldn’t even bring himself to say he had achieved ’a glorious victory’.

”Ah... good thing I didn’t hesitate.” ’Perfect Baldy’ quietly strolled back from outside... The Black Rose’s ships no longer need his field command, ”Otherwise, there wouldn’t even be combat experience to gain.

Really, who hesitates, who cries!”

”The leader hasn’t completely escaped yet!” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ shook off the absurd feeling and issued the latest orders, ”It seems the ordinary Anmur naval soldiers know the nobles and big merchants are moving, and they simply don’t want to fight for such a country.

Perhaps, this is related to Anmur’s army being more like mercenaries.

No matter, at least those mid-high-ranking officers on board haven’t planned to surrender yet.”

Then he puffed out his cheeks, and with a bit of helplessness continued, ”Magic Cult and Black Rose, and Black and White Path, hold your fire, reserve the second and third round of chances for others!”

Although the previous battles at Snowfall Island and Ningbrol Island relied on the luck and effort of our clan for benefits, in the end, it was a bit more than what others gained.

Sometimes, people don’t look to see if others are working harder than themselves; most still only care if what you get is more than what I get.

Especially when the ability gap feels negligible.

A few clans are indeed formidable and appear untouchable, but if they incur public wrath, they will also face misfortune.

Most importantly, as the commander... for future battles to proceed smoothly, I can only let our people suffer a little loss.

”Tsk~” ’Perfect Baldy’ jumped onto the table, crossed his legs, swayed his twin ponytails, wore a smiling face but his tone was mocking, ”Knew there’d surely be nothing for us.”

”Baldy is already here!” ’Mobi Chenxin’ slowly walked in, jumping over from his own ship only after receiving orders from Old Dog, ”Old Dog, just this once!

Our clan is still quite in need of military exploits.”

”Ah~ Ah~ The harder you work, the harder it gets?” ’Perfect Baldy’ shouted a song lyric with a rough voice.

”As if you haven’t done it before!” ’Mobi Chenxin’, having passed the initial awkward stage, was able to naturally banter with clan leaders from other families.

’Perfect Baldy’ spread his hands with a laugh, ”Ah, let bygones be bygones~

If you don’t experience storms, how can you see a rainbow?”

”You’ve even seen hail, while I’ve only faced bitter winds and drizzles.” ’Mobi Chenxin’ retorted.

”Alright, no need for one-act plays.” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ glanced up twice, ”For small gains, let’s just let go a little.

I’m not a Saint; when have we not claimed what is truly ours?

Giving way this time means that next time, in the bigger event, we can boldly seize it!”

’Perfect Baldy’ and ’Mobi Chenxin’ exchanged a glance, smiled at each other, and said nothing more... They certainly understood that Old Dog wouldn’t keep sacrificing the allied interests forever, but words had to be said at the right time.

If one never cries poverty, others would think you’re too wealthy and careless... Though knowing well that no one would be indifferent to money, it somehow becomes reasonable for others to expect your continuous compromise.

These days, the most frightening thing is standing on the moral high ground of ’putting oneself in others’ shoes’; just thinking about this phrase makes business people who understand worldly wisdom instantly anxious.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ glanced up: ”Keep an eye on that Road Eunuch boss; he seems intent on going to that invincible ship flying the commander’s flag.

Although this elf invincible ship’s castrated version is somewhat weaker, it’s not completely defenseless.

Plus, the feedback I’m receiving says 11 weapons were destroyed on the deck, which doesn’t add up. According to the ship’s length, there should be at least 16.”

”Hm?” ’Mobi Chenxin’ asked in surprise, ”Not 12?”

”You know this ship?” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ asked casually.

”Ah...” ’Mobi Chenxin’ said somewhat bashfully, ”You see, you clans are allied with local forces in Toril, that’s why you command so smoothly, right?

”Since I want to pave my own path, I need to find a local who can at least be a little friendly with us!”

”Hmm?” ’Perfect Bald’ swung his short legs back and forth under the table, ”Weren’t you always pushing towards the Underdark?

Could it be the Hydra?

Impossible! Shaer’s forces surely align with William’s style! They must treat us with fairness!”

”?...!” ’Snow Cloud Peak’s’ expression turned from bewildered to certain, ”Is it that part of the Kind Alignment Zholar led by Kui Lu, right?

No wonder Kui Lu’s been lingering around Agleya recently doing nothing... you must’ve told her about the Dark Maiden’s current condition, right?”

”Oh-oh~” ’Perfect Bald’ exclaimed in a very girlish manner, ”No wonder Chalk went crazy, and no wonder you never intended to tell her anything.

I even thought you had lost your mind... but such a level of sympathy is understandable... any girl couldn’t stand seeing her beloved mingling with that group of celestial Dark Maiden followers every day.

The blessings are indeed a bit too much!

No wonder your clan dissolved without a sound... everyone’s got a clue, right?

Back then, I bet everyone voted to agree on this cooperation partner, ignoring the mental resilience of the girl, tsk tsk~

You’ve certainly got a playful approach!”

”It’s just cooperation! Nothing else!” ’Mobi Chenxin’ couldn’t control the expression on his face, grimacing as he spoke, ”Even if you don’t believe in my character, you have to trust William’s skill at blocking!

He could lower my perception from full to zero in an instant!”

”Yo-ho~” expressed ’Snow Cloud Peak’, ’Perfect Bald’, and the other listeners simultaneously, proving everything... Mobi, the Clan Leader of the Black and White Path, had no credibility.

”Let’s get back to business, let’s get back to business.” ’Mobi Chenxin’ said earnestly, ”This flagship is rather famous, after all, even though it’s a fifth shorter, everything else is identical to the Elf Royal’s invincible ship... but you may not know, this is a gnome product.”

”What?” ’Perfect Bald’ shrieked, ”Someone actually dared to let gnomes build a giant ship? With the materials skimped off, they could build another one!”

’Mobi Chenxin’ spread his hands: ”Everyone knows, a true invincible ship has 24 heavy weapons, the Navy Admiral’s special model has 26.

But, according to that Gnome Master craftsman, the missing section would have housed 6 heavy weapons.

Then, they replaced those 4 on the terrace with one specially-designed... dragon-slaying weapon.”

”Real... or fake?” ’Perfect Bald’ murmured.

They had seen the real dragon-slaying weapons on the Luskan Arrow Tower before, though cumbersome to use, indeed, they had some lethality against giant dragons... after all, even Arausato partnered with two other ancient dragons to successfully rob.

But typically, gnome craftsmen rarely made such complex weapons... that work is really too exhausting, without a diligent leader to ensure they work hard, it’s much easier to fool a fool.

”It’s not entirely fake.” ’Mobi Chenxin’ said with a strange expression, ”But it’s said that each use requires 200 warriors over level 8 to work together.

The automated charging system the Gnome Master quoted them was too expensive, and the Anmur people weren’t willing to pay for it; reportedly, making one could buy a subartifact!”

”Wait...” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ asked, puzzled, ”But, isn’t there at most 160 people on one ship? They would have to have the sailors sleep in a big dormitory below decks.”

”Well... it’s said that if eight supernormal level 20+ warriors exerted their efforts together, it could be activated once.” ’Mobi Chenxin’ explained casually.

What supernormal level warrior would act as a subordinate for someone else? There are only a few in the entire Toril!

”Then where are the other two heavy weapon positions?” ’Perfect Bald’ quickly asked more relevantly.

”Didn’t you see that beautiful Goddess Valkin figurehead on the bow of the ship?” ’Ink Brush Mortalworld’ said calmly, ”The Anmur people think Valkin’s blessing is far more important than those two unused heavy weapons.”

”Forget it, you don’t need to bother about that guy anymore.” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ immediately changed his mind, ”With only one hidden weapon, if Road Eunuch can still get his boss killed, then I don’t need to consider their family.”

”What do you want them to do?” ’Perfect Bald’ asked curiously, ”Although Road Eunuch is great at serving people, he can even entertain Ambori till she’s laughing endlessly, but in terms of battle, the Last-Era is the most useless, right?

They’re all people keeping the big boss out of harm’s way.”

”As long as they’re in the right place, anyone can be useful.” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ smiled, ”Look, we have always had conflicts with nobles, but their family doesn’t have a problem.

Think about how Devis’ attendants were consumed... and the fact that the Last-Era boss behaves more like great nobility than the nobles themselves!”
