Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1320: Chapter 1111: The Clear-Headed Black Dragon Brothers

Faced with the complaints of Tampas’s Chosen, Edna could only muster a polite smile.

After all, that’s someone who’s lived through the Dawn Calamity until now, a Chosen of Lansendel! Think about it, that’s someone who watched as their peers silently perished, yet could still uphold their faith in the Lord of Dawn!

Seeing him isn’t much different from seeing Lansendel.

So even though Gendilarei always greeted everyone with a smile, the first reaction of those being greeted was definitely not joy.

Yet Edna couldn’t comment on the contents of Lev’s words… After all, Tampas, who effectively avoided losing a battle by stomping on a horse when a dragon was about to strike, was someone Edna never quite understood his mindset.

If this was going to be a problem, why not avoid this situation from the start?

The divine omen of riding horses of different colors representing victory or defeat was something Tampas himself came up with, wasn’t it?

This is even more baffling than Tampas proclaiming that without peace, war would have no meaning, and that one must always respect the Goddess of Peace.

Edna didn’t agree with many of Midnight’s ideas, but she quite agreed with the assessment that ‘Tampas’s thick skin is truly impeccable’ and ‘Indeed, the thicker the skin, the fatter you grow’.

For Tampas’s Chosen, having a face full of flesh was a prerequisite, so Lev didn’t care at all about Edna’s fake smile… A High-level Mage being this polite meant they could be a friend to Tampas’s side.

He cheerfully told Edna, “My Lord was a bit hesitant at first~ After all, isn’t this the only God’s favoured land of Shantia?

Although Snowfall Island is considered the edge, even a Lord who dislikes starting wars easily wouldn’t allow someone to dance a war dance on their hedge!

Who knew~ that one would be completely silent.”

“Hmm… the matter on Marla’s side is a bit troublesome,” Edna said without blinking, “I reckon that the revered Mother Earth needs to assist her followers in resisting the Lord of Beasts’ invasion.

Whether it’s Marla, or the God of Crocodiles from Mulholland, they both very much need faith right now.

But around here, only some followers on the Moonshadow Archipelago can be used by them… There’s no living space for them near Agleya’s territory.”

It’s unknown whether the faith will be given to the God of Crocodiles or Marla’s true self… that would probably depend on Sebek’s methods.

Anyway, by then, it’s all about killing those hunters and loggers near the forests… and all the humans affecting the beasts’ living environment.

For so many years, mortals have actually come to understand the affairs of deities… It’s clearly Marla, yet when they pray, they have to shout Sebek, meaning Marla is out of luck.

Just like when Shaer swallowed that big lizard in the Underdark, although still called the Lord of the Underdark, its depiction changed from a lizard statue to a big purple eyeball, who doesn’t know their big boss has changed?

Loyalty among Evil Forces has always been like this, it only depends on whether the newcomer can satisfy their desires. If not, it depends on whether you have the strength to make them dare not cause any trouble.

Let’s talk about Shaer again.

Understanding that after their weak divine power switched to a strong divine power, the people in the Underdark changed their stance very smoothly, not considering at all if they could take advantage of anything.

But from Marla to Sebek… the difference in divine power isn’t big, and Marla hasn’t completely died off… That depends on what benefits that big crocodile could offer.

Lev raised an eyebrow, the mage lady before him indeed deserved the trust of Lord Agleya, and could represent both an Elf Territory and a White Dragon Clans at such a critical moment, speaking with finesse.

He wasn’t really trying to find a loophole, but… Shaer and Celene ignoring Shantia is quite normal, after all, their Tampas doesn’t really regard him highly either.

Though they are all neutral… Tampas and the others who were born out of the Twin Goddesses’ war didn’t feel they were wrong in their actions.

They were trying to escape at the time! Who could interfere then!

Mystree was able to act because her birth energy was equivalent to that formed by nearly half of Celene and a small part of Shaer, while the other deities were just the aftermath!

But after everything calmed down, when they figured out what happened in the past, who would view Shantia favorably?

But they can’t say anything, after all, without what the Goddess of the Earth did, they wouldn’t exist.

In this rare silent understanding, Shantia was overlooked by all deities born of that Twin War, no one would be hostile to her, but neither would anyone have any friendship with her.

Shantia actually understands these entanglements, her aiming at Lansendel is because Lansendel is the first light of Toril, completely different from the reasons for the birth of Tampas and Talos.

But what Lev couldn’t understand was why the half-Elf lord of Agleya, would just follow Shaer and Celene in ignoring Shantia.

On what grounds?

That Lord Hill is indeed very strong, no one dares to deny that, even their Chosen can’t accomplish the feats he has done.

But mighty divine power is different; even if Shantia is considered a waste, it’s a mighty divine power waste!

That guy Valkin probably couldn’t even catch up to the hem of Shantia’s skirt.

Even if Coron would be willing to stand against Shantia for him, even if his Agleya City has friendly relations with many mighty divine powers… could these deities always shelter him?

When deities seek revenge, they do not care how long it takes.

Yet a mage, even with a flamboyant personality, wouldn’t confront a mighty divine power without any reliance… of course, reliance here refers to his own power, not backing.

So Lev couldn’t help but test the little girl in front of him.

Unfortunately, the other party seemed to understand immediately, and smoothly covered for Shantia’s absence.

Lev shook his head and smiled, refraining from saying any more unnecessary words. After all, the alliance was just established, and causing a fallout over such a trivial matter would make even Tampas think he’s gone mad.

Edna poked her head out, patted the two sleeping black dragons with their heads tucked under their wings: “Thorne has already written the agreed clauses, do you want to take a look to see if there’s any mistake?”

Wezlum slightly opened one wing, lifted his head to glance, then quickly covered it again, lowering his voice: “Miss Edna, we’ll hang underneath Hidden Town from now on.

We’ll take all the previous, and for the future… we’ll split it sixty-forty, forty percent counting as taxes paid by us brothers, how’s that?”

“Why… so sudden?” Edna was a bit confused.

“When standing in the mithril mine, we brothers feared nothing, daring anything.” Wezlum exhaled deeply, “But upon reaching here, we felt survival is entirely due to the Lord of Agleya and the Teraxil elves he brought!

Actually treating us brothers as a legitimate force.

But, we worry about the future!

We look at the cave, and there’s no big deal, but what if both Night Cloak and the Silver Knights arrive in this mine?

If we have no backing, wouldn’t we just be natural punching bags?

Anyway, the taxes I paid you, sooner or later you’ll hand over some to Lord Hill… then we might as well move to the warm marshes on the Neverwinter Forest side earlier?

After all, once we start paying taxes, no one can deny we’re part of the Agleya territory!

We brothers managed to become ancient dragons, but don’t want to die for such foolish reasons.

Sigh~ before, we were truly blinded by greed.”

“Why don’t you go to Lynn?” Edna asked seriously, her eyelids twitching.

“We don’t deal with golden dragons.” The silent Urzur poked out his head from under his wing and said decisively, “What benevolent metal dragons? Just a group of cold-blooded creatures! They’re not even as good as white dragons!”

Then he unabashedly covered himself with his wing again and continued pretending to sleep.

Elvia didn’t appear as nervous as the black dragon brothers; she kept looking left and right… Having Edna around, her courage was slightly larger.

Especially after seeing Lynn sitting indifferently in the middle, the White Dragon Queen felt even more confident.

She gently bowed her head, giving Edna a look indicating ‘it’s the reason I mentioned before,’ then hinted to Edna to discuss the specifics later.

It seems the golden dragon performed no good deeds during the reign of that Black Dragon Queen, Edna blinked: “But I need to discuss this with Lynn, and if he agrees, Thorne should record it properly.”

The sharp-eared Lynn, not planning to feign honesty here, thought for a few seconds with one hand on his cheek before turning to shout over this way: “I agree, Hill mentioned before my arrival that as long as these two black dragons aren’t burdened with unacceptable blood debts, he wouldn’t mind.”

“What does that mean?” Wezlum asked.

“Not having the habit of treating human-like creatures as food, without interest in wanton destruction…” Edna explained lightly, “By the way, you should know Lord Agleya’s character, henceforth…”

“As long as you don’t stop us from slaughtering pirates.” Wezlum sneered, “Anyway, Agleya always keeps us well-fed, we won’t lack wealth, what gains from hijacking a few merchant fleets can compare to a sea outing with the Undead Tribe?”

Edna nodded: “Alright, I’ll find Thorne.”

The head of the Silver Shield Knights, at the forefront, long accustomed to the way the Agleya crowd handles matters, smiled brightly: “I’ve already drafted it, Edna, please take a look!”

“Okay~” Edna cheerfully walked over.

Thorne looked around, suppressing the urge to sigh, lightly clapping his hands to remind the ladies still exchanging looks: “Please pay attention, gentlemen… ladies! Please come and confirm the treaty contents one last time.”
