Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1307: Chapter 1098: Leonard’s Hesitation

”What is this Edna trying to do?” Lansendel couldn’t quite grasp the little Saint’s intentions and turned to ask Shaer.

”How would I know?” Shaer replied lightly.

”I can’t believe you can’t figure out what she’s thinking.” Lansendel flapped his wings. ”How could the Lady of the Night not discern any secrets?”

Hill widened his eyes slightly... Lansendel truly was, once assured that Shaer was not the mastermind behind the Dawn Calamity, he became more relaxed and increasingly shameless!

As expected, Toril Deities never truly hate evil; they only despise the evil that harms them.

”Lately, she must have been contemplating the obstacles AO has chosen for her.” Shaer’s voice carried a gentle hint of amusement. ”Did not the Undead Tribe just remind her? What if the Mulholland Pantheon intends to return to the Ferun Great Land?

She certainly needs to test the quality of that crocodile and see if suppressing Marla relies on external forces or sheer willpower.”

External forces?

Hill blinked... The original form of the Mulholland Pantheon, the Pharaoh God System?

Indeed, Sebek lost only his Mulholland divine body on the Ferun Great Land. In his own universe, he was still quite at ease... If his very source had truly fallen, those Crocodilians in the Toril World couldn’t possibly live so freely.

The disappearance of their bloodline source would be a tremendous loss to these divine-created races, potentially turning them directly into true wild beasts.

It seems Edna is more wary of external forces than of those Mystra fragments.

However, unless Safras, the God of Prophecy, dares to openly oppose his Main God, all those tricks below are mere trifles in the face of the Undead Tribe’s numbers and strength.

Unless AO goes mad and opens the Abyssal Gate right in front of them.

But that God Above Gods is never so blatant.

After all, He wishes to observe the joy and sorrow between the Mortal World and the deities, not provoke an emotional and reckless rebellion against AO the Great Demon King.

So Edna just needs to ensure greed doesn’t devour her reason... But what kind of treasure could possibly drive this present Edna mad?

Whether it’s money or a Divine Artifact, she was already used to it even before she fully awakened.

Therefore, her estimate might not be wrong.

AO might be forced to use the grand surprise he prepared for the entire Ferun Pantheon... using up the next supplement.

After all, supplements can be remade, but the main storyline can’t collapse... If Edna continues to stroll back leisurely to the Divine Kingdom like this, the deterrent effect the Tablets of Fate established over the years would completely crumble.

Though outsiders might focus on Manks and that group of fragments, Edna herself wouldn’t be unaware, better to be prepared early.

While the Undead Tribe is almost invincible in medium to high-level combat, if truly powerful divine beings were to intervene directly, Edna would undoubtedly have to take the field.

To think she could consider using a Lower Rank Divine Power’s avatar to assess her current strength, instead of always hiding behind the Undead Tribe until there’s no escape, forced into a hasty battle at Liangshan. Truly commendable!

Completely different from that impulsive Midnight Maiden.

Thinking of this brought a smile to Hill’s face. This Edna, compared to the one who went mad from her downfall and, after realizing she was deceived, abandoned herself, completely losing her Midnight fragment, is much more pleasing to the eye.

This is the Path of Destiny for a Goddess of Magic to reclaim her strength.

The former was ”the story of how the Queen was tricked by treacherous ministers into serving as a maid, until her heart and lungs were gouged out to become a specimen.”

Such an astonishing ending makes one wonder if AO planned for Toril to turn into an Evil World.

After Mystra became a mere tool, the churches worshiping Cyric on the Ferun Great Land immediately blossomed everywhere, with many kingdoms even openly worshiping this Prince of Lies who could only exist in the dark before.

Mortals are always the most practical; they can’t see the hands manipulating fate at the top, nor the terrifying fate awaiting them in the Darkness. They only see the obvious power before them.

Hill gently smiled at Edna, who was rubbing her hands together on the giant screen, discussing with Elvia by her side what spell to first use once they rushed to the battlefield.

Though numerous and vexing, witnessing this girl’s tremendous transformation each time gave Hill a peculiar feeling... He and William had left a deep enough trace on the Ferun Great Land, unseen by others yet profound in its impact.

”What’s the first spell?” The ’Old Age Striking King’ who had been staring at the screen finally couldn’t hold back any longer, ”Of course, it’s to weaken the buff! It doesn’t matter how much you can weaken it, as long as the opponent hits you one less point, you’ve gained something.

And Edna, you haven’t forgotten what to do before going into battle, right?”

”Of course, I haven’t! First, find priests of all kinds to give myself a full set of enhancement buffs.

Then use the ’Weaken the Possessor’ spell on myself, followed by applying the Anti-Magic Field and Breathless Aura, and finally, Magic Reversal.” Edna replied immediately.

”Not bad~” The ’Old Age Striking King’ nodded with satisfaction, ”Before the battle starts, you come with me to the Priest Corps and Mage Corps, get all the buffs you need first.

Try to save your own magic slots for life-saving and attack spells, it’s unnecessary to waste them.”

Edna nodded very seriously.

”If there’s no undead tribe around in the future, try to use magic scrolls for these attribute-enhancing spells. I remember you’re quite proficient in this.” The ’Old Age Striking King’ continued nagging, ”Magic slots are really critical, there are only so many spells in a day, so don’t waste them.

Fill the magic slots with spells that can be repeatedly summoned without any loss. Anyway, you have that specialty, right? You can resummon them within three hours?”

Edna held a few Ein Stones in her hand and released them seriously: ”With these Ein Stones, I can add another two hours and specify three spells.”

”Hmm...” The ’Old Age Striking King’ flipped through the screen, ”Although this Crocodile Head and Ambori have shown obvious water element characteristics, you also need to pay attention to whether he can suddenly change attributes, like the earth element characteristic of that Orc Deity.

Try to give yourself an all-round spell that applies across elements, with the focus on versatility rather than power.

Then, set up a spell targeting the water element, preferably dealing some damage to the earth element as well. This one must be the most damaging, even if it consumes a bit more mana, it’s okay. After all, we have lots of magic-storing pearls you can use, don’t you have many too?

The last one is the spare spell you absolutely cannot abandon due to any fluke mentality... A spell that can allow you to leave the battlefield anytime.

Though you can cast swiftly, sometimes, you might get silenced.

The one stored in the Ein Stone, I remember it only takes a bit of spiritual power to activate, right?

It can take you directly back to Hidden Town’s Strange Objects, always place it where you can activate it immediately — never change it for appearances or comfort to a place you can’t think of first in a critical moment~”

Edna listened earnestly to the Sanda King’s teachings and nodded honestly, her slender fingers couldn’t help but touch the starlight headband on her head... even if she heard similar words every time before going out to battle, regardless of whether the opponents were gnoll people or pirate road bandits, Edna never felt impatient.

To hear such sincere care, whether she’s the little girl abandoned by her family or the lonely grown woman deep in her soul, both felt truly happy from the heart.

Then the Sanda King’s attention turned to Elvia... the White Dragon Queen is indeed good at avoiding, but sometimes, she’s overly cautious.

The ’Old Age Striking King’ had always seriously instructed her to never hide in water... Ambori is still the Goddess of the Sea after all, with undead tribe helping to heal and buff, it’s more suitable to charge directly than her usual tactics of hiding underwater to ambush.

While Elvia always had her own combat methods, at this moment, she appeared very obedient... Of course, it could be because the little lady in front of her had too strong a deterrent, causing her to nod continuously even as her dragon face wrinkled.

Presumably, in the White Dragon Queen’s mind, the particularly long two hours finally passed... ’Old Age Striking King’ suddenly cut off her chatter, stood up abruptly, ”Alright, let’s head to the deck!”

Then she turned and glanced at the hall, ”Nasir and Leonard can come out, the rest should stay.”

Devis smiled: ”Until I reach the eighth ring, I’m not facing a deity’s avatar, even if it’s Ambori and Marla.

Deities... even the weakest ones, are not something I can contend against.

Don’t worry, I won’t believe those stories about 12th level mages driving out Ambori... after all, even if there’s really such a person, who’s to say he doesn’t have a divine artifact in hand, backed by a Legendary Great Magician?”

The ’Old Age Striking King’ nodded at him approvingly and swiftly led Edna out of the cabin, ”We should have half an hour to prepare, the Old Dog won’t delay too long.

Follow if you want, I don’t have time to bother with you.”

Nasir glanced at Leonard, chuckled lightly, and walked out the door without hesitation: anyway, he had the Night Cloak, Shar’s exclusive divine art, to save his life, so escaping wasn’t a problem.

Leonard hesitated for a while, holding Josanie, then gently set down his Fairy Dragon, ”I want to go out and see, Josanie, can you stay here and wait for me?”

”But why do you want to take risks?” Josanie tilted her head in confusion, ”You’re a Nature Mage!”
