Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1301: Chapter 1092: Surprises, Again and Again

Edna couldn’t help but laugh. The ”Perfect Bald” had a glorious history; the Sanda Kings had long taught her... just to make her clearly recognize that she was just a mortal, not to think that she could achieve what others could.

If you want to live a life of unlimited glory, the effort behind the scenes must be as deep as the sea... without that ruthless will, don’t consider yourself a genius; everything going smoothly, with everything you want being handed to you.

For mortals like them, before wanting to do anything... whether big or small, first take a piece of paper and list out all your abilities one by one.

Then compare them with the requirements needed to complete the task and decide if you can take action, or rather, if you can achieve the best result.

Most importantly, after listing your abilities, remember to deduct 30%... if you feel particularly strong, be sure to deduct 50%.

If you consistently follow this approach, you may not gain much, but at least you won’t suffer major losses.

Edna can somewhat feel that the ”Old Age Striking King” is trying to teach her by the standards of a leader... and if the Undead Tribe no longer appears in the future, Edna herself could prepare to be a City Lord.

She understands this as well; just because AO currently welcomes the Undead Tribe doesn’t mean he will continue to do so in the future.

After all, the first non-native race invited into Toril by AO was the Dragons.

Then he felt the Dragons were too harmful to Toril and came up with a way to bring in the Elves.

And the result?

In Toril now, after absorbing various knowledge from both major races, it is the Humans who have become the true rulers.

Dragons and Elves are, of course, still very powerful, and the average Human Kingdom cannot provoke them.

But they can no longer return to their former proud and arrogant state of disregarding short-lived races like Humans.

Edna tilted her head to look at her friend... by the time she becomes a Powerful Divine Power, even if AO no longer allows the rampant existence of the Undead Tribe in Toril, she could separate an avatar and go to Teraxil!

She closed her eyes slightly, sensing the seemingly endless mental fragments in her Mental Sea... If AO could break off a few small pieces, why couldn’t she separate a larger piece to send all the warm memories with her Undead Tribe friends to another world?

Mystra may someday cease to exist, but Edna can be eternal.

She rested her head gently on the slender yet firm shoulder of the ”Old Age Striking King” and smiled slightly: Hill’s personality, being able to thrive in Teraxil, only proves that the bottom line there is much higher than in Toril.

As long as her avatar is willing to abide by the rules, the Natural Divine System, which prefers to go with the flow, should be able to accept her into Teraxil, right?

She neither wants nor dares to think... of becoming the Goddess of Magic there.

Edna knows well that gods from Toril are not well-regarded in the outer universe... even for her to appear in her own world as a Demigod level avatar, even the most tolerant Natural Divine System wouldn’t know how long to test her.

But she doesn’t care.

Resting her head sideways, Edna looked at Elvia, who was lying at the doorway of the cabin, staring blankly outside, seemingly lost in thoughts of a mine filled with Mithril... as long as that fragment is out there, even if eventually abandoned by fate, Elvia at least wouldn’t die with her.

Josse Garden, though desolate, at least allows Elvia to attain eternal life... even Dragons aren’t without life limits, otherwise, there wouldn’t be places like Dragon Tombs.

Edna doesn’t believe the successor to her Mystra would do anything about the legacy left by the previous holder... Midnight, with such... unaware attitudes, never directly acted against anyone!

Including some attendants and angels in Josse Garden who reminisced about Black Eye right in front of her.

Perhaps she was indeed too deeply influenced by the Undead Tribe, especially with watching ”Snow Cloud Peak” and ”Perfect Bald,” knowing how much preparation they made before every move.

Success is certainly delightful, and Edna doesn’t think she would easily get into trouble like her predecessors... as long as she sees herself as a gatekeeper rather than the master of the Weave, she estimates that she generally wouldn’t encounter major issues.

Toril doesn’t always require the sacrifice of a Goddess of Magic whenever something happens; Mystree, needless to say, in that chaotic place of Toril, with a heavy sense of responsibility, it’s natural to die first.

As for the other two... Black Eye and Midnight, both held themselves too high: can something that’s both born and given be the same thing?

Without the fate of Shaer and Celene, yet desiring such fortune.

But Edna doesn’t know how long she can maintain her current clarity.

Black Eye was once a very cautious Goddess too! Couldn’t you tell by looking at the birth father of this body?

Why did she and Azuth choose to let their child follow a pure Mage path?

Who would deny their child the best path?

But later, she also became lost in self due to the strength of the Weave, even risking her life?

If Black Eye were still Edna’s mentor in her dreams, she would never have been so foolish.

The little girl sighed wistfully... hoping she could persist for a longer time.

”Old Age Striking King” whispered softly, ”Devis, Luca.”

The Old Dog asked me to inquire with you all; technically, they have completed the task for those female mages from Quel Senta; they just need to be sent to Snowfall Island.

After all, it’s obvious that those women can no longer afford the subsequent employment fees.

But... those women said that on the Quel Senta side, there would still be money and goods sent to them in the future.

So, the Old Dog wants to know, will someone really send it?”

”Of course they will!” Luca blinked and said, ”Followers of Azuth are also followers of the Weave!

Although they may not necessarily be respectful to Mystra, who using the Weave would want to be hated by it?

Regardless of whether they have a bright future, as long as there’s a slightest chance, they must brown-nose.

It’s just money! No matter how full the treasury, if one is dead, isn’t that all for nothing?”

Edna pressed her little face on the shoulder of the ’Old Age Striking King’, rolling her eyes silently.

”Then, Edna.” The ’Old Age Striking King’ asked calmly, ”If those women continue to follow you, what impact would it have on your training?”

”Ah... of course, there isn’t. Their kind of training is completely different from what us mages do.” Edna lifted her head, smiling brightly, ”They are here to face calamity, we just watch the fun.”

The ’Old Age Striking King’ nodded thoughtfully: ”That’s good then.

Speaking of which, many people actually hope the Old Dog will continue to have them along.”

”Why?” Edna asked puzzled.

”So many deities have already come out~ Shuni should also make some moves, right?” Cunlü, who came again to watch the fun, answered with a grin, ”Do you not remember that lady is claimed to be the most beautiful goddess in Toril?

It’s said that whether a man or a woman, seeing her would be dazzled... Most importantly, hasn’t she always been known for natural beauty?”

”She still... wears a colorless gauze robe for appearances.” Edna reluctantly said.

”Anyway, we of the Undead Tribe have always wanted to know if she can make millions of us fall madly in love simultaneously.” Cunlü stretched lazily, collapsing on the sofa, ”I’m also curious to witness~ what Toril’s ultimate sensuality looks like.”

The ’Old Age Striking King’ replied to the Old Dog, then said nonchalantly: ”It’s good to have them here too; so it doesn’t seem like everything’s aimed at us.

We may not fear trouble, but we shouldn’t always be trouble magnets!”

Edna squinted and smiled, looking innocent and adorable... so much so that the ’Old Age Striking King’ who glanced at her gently raised a hand to pat her little head.

The huge screen on the Magic Cult Great Ship unfolded once again, instantly drawing everyone’s attention.

The White Dragon and the Black Dragon, although both excel in the Water Element, the gap is quite significant!

That imposing Black Dragon standing at the ship’s bow, with a skeletal-like face and cruel eyes staring directly, projected on the huge screen, indeed gave one a slight chill down the spine.

Finally, Elvia, who turned around from the entrance, broke the silence in the cabin: ”Eh? This Black Dragon is interesting, almost reaching the Ancient Era, and the skin on its cheekbone surprisingly hasn’t degenerated~

It still looks like a living dragon, no wonder it doesn’t want to become an Undead Dragon.

Did you say it has an identical brother?

How interesting, is it not sure which bloodline it traces back to? Unless...”

”Elvia! Stop talking!” Edna stopped her White Dragon’s nonsense, ”No dragon likes to hear doubts about their impure bloodline, do they?”

The White Dragon Queen, filled with jealousy and hatred for the nearby Black Dragon, unhappily flapped her wings: ”So much Mithril already!

If it were me, and someone became horribly jealous knowing how wealthy I am, no matter how nasty the curse, I would just happily go for a cow!

Tsk~”

Edna shook her head helplessly, deciding not to argue with her slightly crazy partner for now.

”Weren’t we supposed to wait until after defeating the Anmur Navy...” The ’Old Age Striking King’ was a bit surprised, ”Did it not happen yet?”

”Idle White Dragon friends, just flew two circles there, and this Black Dragon voluntarily came over.” ’Snow Cloud Peak’, whose throne at the ship’s bow was stolen, leaned against the ship’s side a bit behind explaining to the giant screen, ”Tiamat’s influence, seems larger than I thought.

This... Mr. Wezlum Urzul...”

His words were interrupted by the huge Black Dragon that tilted its head and listened sideways, ”Wezlum, just Wezlum. Urzul is guarding the mine!”

The corner of ’Snow Cloud Peak’s’ mouth twitched fiercely: ”I... really hate tearing up my script under duress.

But recently, it’s been all bloody accidents!”
