Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1313: Chapter 1104: The True Sebek

On the large ship of the Black Rose, things were busy, but on the Floating Castle, Hill was even more furious than if he’d suddenly been landed with a strange relative.

“I… just reminded him he used the wrong herbs! That was a Primary Potion!” he said through gritted teeth, “Absolutely did not praise him!

What did I praise him for? Foolhardiness? Throwing all sorts of nonsensical things into the crucible?”

“Well… Hill is indeed a Mage!” Lansendel couldn’t help but exclaim, “His focus is really quite interesting.”

Shaer was about to reply when she suddenly turned to look at the Moonlight slowly returning to human form: “Gone for so long, could it be that Xaries really has an issue?”

“I think the one controlling that body now is Zandila. Although she also has long black hair and narrow green cat eyes, I always felt she seemed more mature, and even lying in the Pool of Radiance couldn’t hide the faint blue glow of her skin.

Xaries’s main consciousness is probably not in Toril.” Celene’s tone was a bit stiff, and her face, usually fond of smiling, showed a rare hint of displeasure, “She’s hiding in Hanali’s Pool of Radiance and won’t come out. I felt I might have gotten something wrong, so I went directly to ask Shuni.

But, Shuni might really be caught up in Mystra’s Path of Destiny, and when talking to me, she didn’t dare to look me in the eye.

She just said the Pool of Radiance has been too lively lately and advised me not to go in, and she didn’t care at all about Xaries’s situation.

She used to not be this indifferent… at least on the surface, Shuni would always feign enthusiasm for her friends, not to mention Xaries, who she always called her most beloved little sister.”

“What about Hanali?” Shaer pressed, “The Elf Deity System is avoiding it obviously, does she dare to be involved?”

“I think… there might be an issue with their Eternal Gold Pond Alliance.” Celene replied seriously, “Hanali didn’t stop me from entering the Pool of Radiance, but watching those Goddesses bathing in the Crystal Fountain from a distance didn’t make me want to take a step forward.

Before, I simply didn’t like the strange effects of the Pool of Radiance, and that kind of decadent, extravagant environment made me averse to entering.

But… this time, I felt like the lake surface, which merely resembled a mirror, really turned into a frightening mirror seeking to devour people.”

“I remember Xaries devoured a face of the Beast Worship Cult, right?” Lansendel suddenly asked.

“Yes, the cat woman Felide.” Celene turned to him, “Do you think it’s the backlash from the Beast Worship Cult that the Mulholland people elevated and then devoured millennia ago?”

“How could devouring a Totem God based on desire not have an impact?” Lansendel chuckled, “It might not be a backlash, but… when the Mulholland Pantheon chose to grow that way, they probably already ingested the seeds of disaster.

Who knows, maybe this sudden appearance in Toril is because those wandering animals miss home?”

Shaer sneered, “That Bastet aspect of hers, indeed, might not have returned to Mulholland, but instead… had to slumber with Felide, after all, Xaries consists of both, losing either would mean the Cat of Pleasure would no longer exist.

So what you see is merely the aspect of Zandila that can exist independently.

The Pool of Radiance frightens you, possibly because… Hanali is helping Xaries suppress the Totem Power’s backlash?”

Hill pondered Shaer and Lansendel’s words, slowly piecing together the key points… Shuni must know a lot about Xaries’s situation, which is why she’s showing disinterest.

Moreover, her behavior also seems normal, as Celene, being an embodiment of Primordial Light, has always detested that kind of Negative Energy from the bottom of her heart.

Ordinarily, when faced with such situations, Celene would merely watch indifferently or leave unless provoked, but recently her relationship with Shaer… many Toril Deities already considered it pretty good.

After all, when encountering a High-grade Artifact to grab, no matter if it’s suitable for oneself, for the Toril Deities, it’s something to seize… even if it cannot be used, it can be traded with other deities!

Why give it away for free, especially to past enemies?

Ever since Xaries was drawn in by passion in the darkness, it was destined that her paw stepped into Shaer’s divine jurisdiction.

Perhaps Shaer wouldn’t choose to devour her, but to entirely turn this cat into a dark cat Goddess, she would not hesitate.

Celene only realized after the fact that her alliance with Shaer this time caused Shuni and her allies to cast doubts upon her, making it impossible to be as intimate and open as before.

She hesitated for a few seconds, then shook her head despondently: “The normal Shuni wouldn’t have such misconceptions.

She should understand that surface friendliness never means reality, especially during the Path of Destiny.

Enough, I won’t speak with her much until the Magicplague ends.

Although I can’t see Shuni’s destiny line, there truly is the Power of Destiny entangling the maids around her.

If she can’t awaken… no one can help her.

Ha~ I never thought even a Giant could one day feel such ever-present vigilance from Shuni!

Even if it were the closest friend, at this moment, if trying to stop her, she likely views them as trying to take benefits from her hands… enormous benefits.”

Celene looked up at the sky intently and spoke slowly after a few minutes: “I suspect she has entangled with Safras.”

“So, it wasn’t without reason that AO chose Saiseuxie, a Shuni Follower of Quel Senta?” Lansendel asked sharply, “Then I’m relieved, I thought the great deity was suddenly acting on a whim!

If it’s still about who reaches out first suffers, and who covets falls, then Toril might still have days to live.”

Shaer laughed softly twice: “Perhaps, because Mystra has died quite a few times, hasn’t she?

Even Shuni, who lived vividly even during the Era of the Saint, indeed has the right to look down on her.

All strong divine powers, after all!

Heh~”

Celene was lost in thought for a while, then said pensively: “I…”

“You can return the past affection.” Shaer coldly laughed, “With the skill of that fiery hair to flirt, as long as she loses strong divine power, who knows how many deities would want to bring her into their fold!

Hum~ her tea gatherings are indeed popular.

But once she loses the power to protect herself, won’t that place just turn into another club?”

Celene said helplessly: “Don’t be so harsh on her… Shuni’s heart is still very pure, she never has malevolence, otherwise, how could it be Xaries who’s attracted to that kind of… dark desire?”

Shaer pursed her lips; she could never comprehend Shuni’s way of doing things.

After all, the Goddess of the Night is always haughty, able to find flaws in everyone, which is the exact opposite of Shuni, who sees everyone’s merits.

“Revered Lord of Dawn, I’m a bit confused.

Since you’ve confirmed that there’s a problem with the Mulholland Pantheon and they might choose to return to Toril as a whole, why didn’t Bastet choose to return and join them?” Hill pondered for a moment before asking, “I remember she left part of her faith foundation there and was the lover of Pharaoh Anhur… But from what I hear, you seem to think she would choose to stand with the Toril Deities.”

“Bastet can’t go back anymore; she actually chose to be Xaries,” Lansendel smiled. “After Shuni rescued her from Shaer’s hands, she was resurrected from the body of a harem woman in Kalinsan and soaked that body with the water from the Pool of Radiance, completely binding her soul to that body.

Now, the marks on her body, Toril has far surpassed the thousands of years away from Mulholland.”

“Hum~” Shaer snorted coldly, yet chose to remain silent.

“Roar~” A sudden, massive roar erupted from the grand screen, capturing Hill’s attention.

Sebek abandoned his crocodilian form, transforming into a massive crocodile, almost two-thirds the size of the Black Rose’s magic ship.

Though he summoned many crocodiles with his trident, the sudden retreat led by Ambori left the sea somewhat sparse in crocodiles.

Ambori’s Sharkmen, though not powerful, were indeed numerous… They still managed to provide some support.

However, Sebek’s summoning of crocodiles required some branches and driftwood, which weren’t so plentiful along the coast of Ningbrol Island.

Despite his efforts, Sebek only managed to summon close to a few thousand crocodiles… not enough to encircle the magic ship.

The God of Crocodiles tried several times to leap aboard the magic ship with his trident but was continually suppressed by the Knights.

Not to mention, thanks to Edna’s warning, the blizzard around the magic ship never ceased; whether turning into sand or mud, he couldn’t penetrate the defense circle.

Instead, if he carelessly slowed down, he would risk falling prey to the suicidal attacks of the undead.

The skills of the undead tribe don’t cause much damage to divine beings, but self-destruction at the cost of life clearly inflicts considerable damage.

Such a battle serves as the simplest way of combat for the undead tribe… If they can take down a BOSS this way, how fortunate it would be!

If it weren’t for the rationality of the Black Rose’s management keeping three cabins of reserve forces from taking action, the entire ship might have been blown empty by now.

In the end, Sebek couldn’t hold his form any longer and revealed his giant crocodile appearance.

His roar resonated with the surrounding crocodiles, turning the blizzard in the sky into lingering raindrops and filling the air with a sense of sorrow and grief.

Thousands of crocodiles suddenly leaped up, riding the rain behind Sebek as they charged towards the magic ship.

“Ah… Crocodile Tears!” Lansendel immediately recognized it with a glance, “That’s the real Sebek!”
