Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1314: Chapter 1105: Edna’s Fury

“Crocodile Tears? What on earth is that?” Hill couldn’t help but gaze at the giant screen in surprise, then it dawned on him… Sebek is playing a self-destruction game with the Undead Tribe!

It seems like he wants his creations to feel his sorrow, and then, in an effort to make their Main God happy again, choose self-sacrifice through divine arts?

Hmm… ‘Crocodile Tears’ is ironically meaningful no matter which world they’re in!

Hill raised an eyebrow, noticing that the dead crocodile turned back into dry branches, and as long as that huge crocodile passed by, the branches would be transformed into crocodiles once again.

Is this supposed to be a contest of blowing up each other to see who’s the last standing?

I reckon Sebek didn’t acquire much of Marla’s memories, which is why he is so optimistic about the number of the Undead Tribe.

Wait, Hill suddenly looked up: “Has he come out directly like this?

Then why all the mystery from the Mulholland Pantheon?”

“Whatever Sebek does, the Mulholland Pantheon can directly claim ignorance.” Lansendel sneered, “After all, he is a member of the Anser Divine System.

During the period of the Imasca Kingdom, he betrayed An He for the Mulholland Pantheon’s sovereignty, selling out secrets to Anser.

Alas, in the end, neither side won, both losing to the Beastmen and Giant Dragons, and finally even shaking hands to fight against Beastmen together.

So, many matters seemed to just pass… but who believes that?

Someone once a betrayer could betray again, and no one can deny that possibility.

See, like this time, it’s impossible for Sebek to sacrifice himself for Mulholland’s interest; An He surely knows this.”

Hill blinked in confusion, then why does An He insist on using Sebek?

“The Mulholland Pantheon is essentially a family god system,” Celene chuckled, “They all closely revolve around An He, acting according to his will.

The status in the pantheon is judged not by divine power but by An He’s preference.

The Pharaoh’s entourage consists of… confidantes and those adept at flattery.

So the trusted deities end up with disastrous results when carrying out tasks.

And those not very obedient wouldn’t risk themselves for him in other worlds either.

Bastet is a vivid example, once out there, she never intends to come back.

Instead, it’s Saibet, due to the previous betrayal, no one in the Mulholland Pantheon associates with him; he is full of ambition… most importantly, his strength is such that An He can effortlessly suppress him.

He can be brought back or discarded without regret, making him indeed suitable for such a task.”

Hill shook his head in helplessness, glancing at Edna standing earnestly at the front of the deck… wondering what the little girl’s feelings were now.

Clearly, it was her Path of Destiny, yet it unexpectedly turned into a Toril Deities’ war against an invasion.

Did AO find the checkpoints along the way insufficient and just dug a heavenly channel?

But Edna didn’t think that much.

Currently, she seemed to be full of excitement in battle.

But how could a child raised by the ‘Old Age Striking King’ not awaken some violent genes?

Thus, even the Undead Tribe felt no issue as Edna cursed those shameless Mulholland bastards while fighting fiercely.

Yet only Edna knows whom she was cursing.

From Sebek’s behavior, she understood one thing… this crocodile, which has apparently taken down Marla, can control the Blue Bear, but his control over Marla’s original form isn’t strong.

Thus, Sebek could only drag that giant ape form into a subspace to suppress it, and from the appearance, it could only turn into his crocodilian and couldn’t revert to the seemingly more combat-capable Blue Bear form.

Edna found some ancient knowledge from snippets of past memories: the giant beast totems in the Beast Worship Cult games were initially Mulholland Pantheon’s pastoral games to descend onto Toril.

Thus, once they reached Toril, they could directly merge with the giant beast corresponding to their divinity… Hence bypassing Toril’s rejection of these foreign deities.

Clearly the old scoundrels from playing colonization games for ages.

It’s a pity their scheme stumbled as they failed to foresee that AO had no intention to stop their descent… Instead, due to their partners being overly arrogant, they failed completely.

The outcome of the Mulholland Pantheon was even worse than those preparing nothing and coming to rescue people like the Anser Divine System.

The reason Marla could devour the incarnation Sebek left on Toril was that he first consumed the Blue Bear… it’s like two different colored fruits on the same line, though each more poisonous than the other, yet through gradual progression, they could adapt.

But Marla also could not fully merge these two aspects; otherwise, he wouldn’t face today’s predicament.

However, nobody cared whether he could reappear.

After confirming that this Sebek was indeed under the control of Mulholland’s main body, Edna had not stopped thinking… As Marla and Ambori lacked the ability to create divine power incarnations during the Magicplague.

That is to say, before that, Marla had already been backfired.

No wonder Ambori was capable of finding Nibro Island and could even land on it.

Although that guy has always been ruthless, he treated his creations, the Sharkmen who would only ever truly worship her, quite well. He would not let them be cannon fodder.

But Sebek could command the Crocodilians to land on the island.

Edna quickly thought of that Xaries… She didn’t believe that Xaries, who was once the Goddess Queen of Mulholland, would know nothing facing Bastet.

Then she thought of Shuni.

The cat girl never hides her chaotic emotions.

As for Shuni?

She was so close to Xaries, how could she know nothing?

Following that, Edna recalled those few female mages of Quel Senta… The last stronghold of faith for Sebek, the Viper Swamp, was in Quel Senta Bay.

And Elsbeth City and the Sorina City Alliance in Quel Senta Bay are the faith centers for Shuni in that country.

Edna’s father, as a son of Azuth, would permit these female mages to appear in Agleya City, taking the opportunity to supplement subordinates for Devis and others, certainly due to an existence with a status and capability much higher than his, suppressing his resistance.

And, Azuth, ever since the start of the Magicplague, has been staying in the center of the Weave, diligently helping to organize the threads of the Weave, making all preparations for the goddess’s return.

Edna was quite aware, when she learned of Azuth’s deeds, the Midnight soul that was filled with discontent towards this Deity of Mages, directly gave up the hostility against Azuth.

This Deity of Mages indeed had many faults, but at least he diligently performed his duties… Midnight finally understood what was most crucial for her underlings.

And Edna, who connected all this, naturally realized why AO stuffed Mystra’s soul shard into the soul of a Shuni follower… She had previously gotten the causal relationship wrong!

It was Shuni who first participated in the Path of Destiny, possibly even collaborating with Safras… That Lady Fiery Hair probably thought the Enthrallment Spells she researched were not enough, so she intended to make some moves on the Weave!

Edna felt a fury rising from the depths of her soul, entangling her viciously.

That was Midnight’s anger.

A deep-seated hatred for even the Fiery Hair who dared to reach out against her.

She knew many people looked down on her past madness and obsession, but Midnight never cared… a willing bet, willing to lose, she admitted defeat.

But, the current situation where anyone dared to look down on her, where anyone dared to reach out against her, finally shook this stubborn soul.

In that instant, Edna felt that the fragmented soul seemed to tremble suddenly… At least half of the soul shards had recombined on their own.

Clearly possessing immense power, potentially surpassing mortal limits at any moment, yet a vast sorrow welled up inside her.

Previously, Edna refused to admit that she and Midnight were the same person, thus the soul reformation was slow and delayed.

And Midnight, unusually determined Midnight, left a mark on the soul that did not acknowledge the repudiation of the past Edna, as she never thought she was wrong.

But at that moment, Midnight’s Soul Mark doubted itself for the first time.

Edna was aware of how deadly Midnight’s mistakes were, but at this moment, she was still engulfed in an indescribable rage… it was a clenching hatred for those treacherous individuals surrounding Midnight.

Too naive, should she be calculated and harmed for that?

Edna cursed fiercely in a low voice, waving her arm vigorously… since others made the first move, they can’t blame her for what’s to follow!

The Undead Tribe seemed quite pleased.

Sebek’s self-destructing croc target was evident, they were watching to see who could succeed in a direct aerial collision.

Those originally prepared to intercept the Bear Form in the cabin had already rushed out to take on the responsibility of combating the giant crocodiles.

Though a bit difficult, these heavily armored knights managed to hold Sebek back.

Some even spread out on the deck, using their bodies to block the explosion force of the crocodiles.

What they wore were heavy detachable mechanical armor!

The kind made to combat Giant Dragons, resembling exoskeleton mechas, requiring assistance to don and doff.

Though it demanded a lot from the wearer, requiring strength and endurance both above 16, it indeed could dissipate half of the impact force received.

However, warriors with such high strength and endurance, capable of affording this expensive thing, wouldn’t necessarily risk their lives against a Giant Dragon.

For those lacking the capability… risking their lives wasn’t warranted to slay a dragon, wouldn’t it be better to serve as a mage’s follower?

So after the Gnomes developed this thing, it became a slow seller naturally on Toril.

Not until the arrival of the Undead Tribe, did it regain its glory.
