Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1331: Chapter 1122: Each Follows Their Own Path

Edna quickly understood just how powerful her Sanda King Sister’s ”deal with him” could be.

The long and scattered evacuation routes of the many merchants of the Kingdom of Anmur were visibly converging into a few in the sky.

The two most obvious routes, one directly leading to the northern Cloud Mist Mountains, with a clear destination of the Twin Towers... that one was obvious to anyone.

After all, Shaer had initially sent Iltmara to snatch the Imaskari Fifth Secret Artifact from the Twin Towers, and now it seems that the Masked Mage Society, which has been branding all mages not of their own as outlaws since before the founding of Anmur, might have chosen to revive the Gnomish Inventor order from the start.

This is the true reason for their exclusion of dissidents... Back in the day, the Imasca Kingdom committed numerous atrocities, and if their intentions were discovered, Enser and Mulholland from the far southern Ferun might abruptly put aside their hatred and march their armies to obliterate them first and discuss it later.

Although few people now continue to believe in the Anser Divine System and the Mulholland Pantheon, they can’t forget the origins of their ancestors... the descendants of the slaves captured from those two cosmos and the native slaves of Ferun by Imasca.

They would certainly eliminate the Gnomish Inventor without hesitation.

Whether they’re good or evil... Aren’t the remnants of Imasca now in the Underdark? No one there is good.

Ah... Whenever all countries on the Ferun Great Land allow Zholar Elves free access, then they better discuss the human rights issue of the Gnomish Inventor from the Underdark!

The line of the King of Anmur, in essence controlling the Masked Mage Society, like the Salem Family, could only choose to head north during such times.

After all, whatever mischief they pulled is now common knowledge across the continent.

The southern nations won’t spare them... though their fate isn’t as pitiful as those from Enser and Mulholland, one can easily imagine: where else could slaves ascending from Ferun originate if not from Imasca’s own terrors!

The whole southern Ferun was terribly ravaged by Imasca back then.

Like the Sel now, if the Undead Governor fails, the neighboring countries plagued severely by them would certainly strike without a second thought.

Nations of southern and central Ferun always favor marriages and alliances.

After all, they’re constantly home to various wicked lands... and after exploiting the common people so long, repercussions are inevitable.

Mortal life on the Ferun Great Land may be easy to take, but pushing too far, risking mortal souls’ ultimate sacrifice, the wealth of their own souls, results in equally dire consequences.

These countries, infamous for their corruption, always act with distinguished flair.

The Red Robes were only criticized for their cold, ruthless methods within their own borders previously... without an alliance, Sel would certainly break them apart one by one.

The Red Robes used to spare lives in exchange for wealth.

Now this one collaborates with Bane!

No matter who you are, you’ll turn into an undead first... all souls belong to them, then, what treasures can stay hidden?

The financial and wealth-absorbing ability of Sel people are terrifying, even reaching distant neighbors’ alarm.

Nevertheless, even so, none of these countries dared to summon the Undead Tribe from Agleya City for assistance.

Despite the Undead Tribe always being restrained when accepting missions outside... clearly, those countries are no match for even half of Yinbutu.

Though the upper echelons of Yinbutu are somewhat corrupt, the King is even notoriously an idiot, at least common folks retain a way of life.

Edna mused for a moment and was certain the female mage from Quel Senta captured initially likely headed north.

This area would certainly fall under the authority of Abelt from the Temple of the Goddess of the Night... no one would steal the eternal nemesis from the Eye of the Flame.

Forcing a noble-born lady to become the Dark Night Cloak leader bent on destroying the world, the Salem Family survives only because they indeed have numerous Archmages.

Edna doubted the Goddess of Wealth, Valkin, whom the Salem Family openly worship, would recognize these guys as her followers, although Anmur’s capital, Ascatra City, is indeed her faith’s center.

But Valkin now?

She would have to continue feigning sleep even if awakened.

Though this is the strongest enemy, in the short run, the Undead Tribe should not confront them.

So... what they managed to orchestrate should be the large crowd taking the southern path through the peak of the Snowflake Mountains from southeastern Anmur?

Clearly, this group intends bypassing Tethyr in the middle, heading directly to Kalinsan.

No, there’s another route, short and obscure, leading to Lake Esmir.

Upon observing, Edna spontaneously chuckled, ”Will the Anmur Navy hold out two more days so that all six members’ family has evacuated?”

This black speck from the Troll Mountain Range should be the sea lord’s family’s ship, right? Are they trying to head to Steam Lake?

Then circle via the Sea of Radiance to Chult?

Has the Anmur Navy secretly established handy ports there for themselves?

Ha~, no wonder they love colonies so much.

However, they probably hate that Prince Andreju even more now, right?

Mulan is such a good port for evacuation! It’s convenient to go any way.”

The Cloud House flew around Anmur for only two days, and the route map recorded by the ’Old Age Striking King’ changed so dramatically... Edna was incredibly curious.

”Mr. Snow Cloud Peak, what exactly did you do?” She lay on the long plush carpet, curiously looking up at the ’Old Age Striking King’.

Although the Female Priest tends to do things swiftly, she never makes things difficult for herself.

So now this corner she uses to observe the ground is not only laid with a beautiful pink wool rug but also piled with several soft plush cushions.

A large picnic basket is placed in the middle... At the bottom of the basket, there’s a beautiful white horn of a sheep.

There’s no need to mention what the horn is, as the ’Old Age Striking King’ naturally has the strength and wealth.

The picnic basket is quite interesting: the greatest feature of this strange object is that it automatically brings forth dishes and wine glasses, ensuring the food and drinks placed in the basket have tableware and are secure from spilling or tipping over.

In Toril, strange objects creators can figure out how to make this kind of outdoor picnic tool at a glance... But in Toril, the concept of picnicking simply doesn’t resonate with many people.

Most people’s days are called wilderness survival.

For the few, their days are called magical cottages.

Edna didn’t know why, clearly it was a picnic basket meant to complement the Horn of Plenty, but just having it there gave a sense of ease and comfort.

She lay back on the comfortable blanket, her head resting on a soft pillow, stretching her body in the sunlight... Beside her, Elvia rolled around on the grass, occasionally nosing the scent of flowers.

The events in the Kingdom of Anmur are serious enough to potentially cause upheaval across the entire Ferun Great Land, but when Edna asked, even her tone was soft.

The ’Old Age Striking King’, sitting cross-legged on one corner of the blanket with thick cushions piled behind him, said happily, ”Look, although the female mage from Quel Senta who got captured seems to be in danger, she’s not only separated from those companions who surely would hold each other back but also comes in contact with the outside world.

Even though her fate is controlled by others, conversely, you could say she’s now in touch with higher-level influential figures.

Instead of just brushing slightly against the Path of Destiny folks like you in the eyes of those companions.

Following behind you, waiting for destiny to unfold little by little, is indeed safe, but... also leaves little opportunity, doesn’t it?

Among those female mages, indeed, some only plan to get through these days and then take back benefits to return to the embrace of Shuni in Quel Senta.

They never thought they could actually become Mistra truly.

But still, there are those two who think, why can’t I?

The Saint’s journey of the past Midnight has made many who know her story unable to suppress that kind of ambition.

Did Midnight really receive a large shard of Mistra’s soul back then?

If it were big enough, she wouldn’t have missed the chance at the start, until Black Eye’s folly led AO to finally come.

So, as long as you stir their ambitions, and align them with other parliament members in Anmur... especially Navy Minister Slanjianter and the Shadow Thief’s backer, Alibaba...

Such minor matters do not need worry, a few words from Abert will settle it.”

”That Rouge Mark?” Edna still had a deep impression of that lady.

”She’s smart, went straight to Alibaba.”

”Is the other one that imposing Red Gauze Lady?” Edna turned over, hugging a pillow and slightly raising her head to ask.

”No~” The ’Old Age Striking King’ laughed, ”Did you only see her ambitious eyes?

She indeed has ample ambition, but her goals are completely different.

The one hopes to take advantage of the situation to gain more benefits, and later directly eliminate her scumbag City Lord father back home to become the ruler of the City State herself!

Presumably, she accepted the shards of Mistra’s soul at the very start to elevate levels through the Weave’s power.

To become a Chosen of whichever goddess, that would be best... Mistra and Shuni, in her eyes, are both entities to be utilized.

She’s that particularly graceful and elegant girl, polite to everyone.”

Edna couldn’t help but sit up: ”Her?”

”Yes, chose very decisively to align with the Anmur Navy as a partner.” The ’Old Age Striking King’ tilted his head saying, ”You see, theoretically, the Anmur Navy just lost a fleet to us, yet collaborated with us, and those female mages from Quel Senta that led to these events. Even if the ambitious from Anmur wished to partner with them, wouldn’t they choose other forces? Like how Rouge Mark agreed to the collaboration invitation from the Shadow Thief of Cyric?

The Anmur Navy didn’t fail to reach out to Rouge Mark.

But she decided very promptly, without even ten minutes of hesitation.”
