Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1304: Chapter 1095: The Mad Shrew Queen Ambori

“Are you seriously considering it?” Celene was quite surprised to find Shaer genuinely hesitating.

She originally thought Shaer would scold her!

Unexpectedly, her usually elegant sister, who likes peace and quiet, was actually considering choosing a Quel Senta Mage who is learning how to spar verbally with Ambori to be her Chosen.

“Truly… these are different times!” Lansendel couldn’t help but sigh with some surprise, “Shaer, have you already started thinking about the future?

Since you’re no longer making the destruction of the world your entire will, those two Chosen from before, especially the one in Anmur, need to be restricted a bit, right?

But you also don’t plan to completely give up the idea of stirring up trouble in Toril. Especially when it comes to big events like the destruction of a country like Anmur, you wouldn’t mind fanning the flames.

And this Nasir truly is quite shrewd and capable, very adept at communicating with the outside world. He can let outsiders know about your changes and also appease that Chosen who wants to destroy everything.

Of course, all of this is based on the premise that the downfall of Anmur is inevitable.

So, have you reached an agreement with William? The Undead Tribe is indeed going to go all out against Anmur, right?”

“A country like Anmur has no reason to exist.” Shaer said coldly, “After killing off who needs to be killed and destroying what needs to be destroyed, rebuilding a country ruled by a Queen is their best outcome.”

“You are deliberately avoiding the topic, this Nasir has a good relationship with Edna… When Edna looks at him, she doesn’t show any signs of tension, clearly she already sees him as a trustworthy person.

Although it might be due to the influence of the Undead Tribe, she indeed trusted that William and thus extended her trust to Shaer’s subordinates.

In the future, Mystra might no longer see the assassins in the dark as enemies… Is this the matter?” Celene leaned forward slightly, asking with a curious expression.

Shaer suddenly sat up, staring coldly at the smiling, provocatively-faced Maiden of the Moon.

The beak of the Golden Peacock opened and closed a few times, but it eventually gave up on talking to Celene… Lansendel just walked quietly to one side, lying on the ground with a demeanor of indifference: “I have to explain something to Gendilarei, we’ll talk later.”

So… why did Celene ask?

Hill felt like the barrage in his mind had already gone crazy.

The main reason Shaer would choose Nasir as her Chosen is because of Edna, isn’t it?

She’s practically implying that as long as Edna remains in the position of Goddess of Magic, she, as the Goddess of the Night, will not easily make a move against her.

Yet, how could the always proud Shaer actively seek favor with Edna?

Everyone knows it well.

Even the usually sharp-tongued Lansendel wisely skipped over this point!

Hill couldn’t help but frown, but then thought again, what Celene did seemed not that surprising either.

Just because they act amiably doesn’t mean they can truly rediscover their so-called sisterly bond.

Maybe there is indeed a little bit of it… but it can’t cover up the hatred accumulated over tens of thousands of years.

Just at a certain moment, due to changes in the external environment, both sides in conflict tacitly chose to ceasefire, willing to sit at the same negotiation table, even cooperate and coordinate with each other.

But a ceasefire and re-establishing relations have never been the same thing.

At least, after maintaining a cold war for a while longer or engaging in numerous minor skirmishes, each will decide whether to take further steps based on the other’s performance.

Even if they still miss the good old days, reconciling so easily, or even transitioning directly to intimacy, seems impossible.

Reality is never a fairy tale, let alone a romantic drama.

So the two of them constantly provoke each other, testing the limits of each other’s tolerance bit by bit.

But from merely mentioning the past at the beginning, to now commenting on current matters, it seems Celene’s patience is not quite enough.

Hill’s eyebrows suddenly lifted… No, it’s because their subordinates are about to formally cooperate.

With the discovery of the Mithril Mine on Snowfall Island, both Shaer and Celene must face a reality: not only do they have to coexist amicably in Agleya, but even their subordinates must start collaborating.

No matter how rich the resources these two Goddesses have in their hands, they can’t just freely give them to their followers… There’s no deity in Toril who would give someone a golden axe just because some human is honest enough.

Even if that human is worshipping her devoutly, she won’t be so inexplicably generous.

Therefore, neither of them would allow their followers to give up ownership of the Mithril Mine.

But this means that inevitably, their relationship has been fast-tracked.

Previously, people merely felt that their antagonistic relationship might have improved, but with the followers of the Twin Goddesses appearing together on an island, bullying the local Moonshadow People and resisting later plunderers together, it was enough for observers to be flabbergasted.

Even Tyr and Lansendel joining in, along with the Lord of Agleya and the Elves… of course, both the Teraxil Elves and the Descendants of Azuth had no choice but to fade into the background.

Hill understood well the working style of the Undead Tribe. They were accustomed to distributing based on contribution, so Edna would certainly get her share.

Even Edna herself understood this.

And though the share might be a bit less, the Black Dragon Brothers and Terry and Tasding would also have their share, as long as they had made an effort. The Undead Tribe always rewarded based on merit.

Although this combination was a bit strange, it did indeed possess enough deterrent power, no matter which side it was on.

Fortunately, Snowfall Island was governed by the Undead Tribe. They wouldn’t care about the chaotic relationships between those temples… even if the handlers of the two grand temples were fighting and rolling on the ground nearby, they could bow down and hand over an agreement for them to sign.

As for the original owner of Snowfall Island… whether the Queen of the Moonshadow Archipelago had a chance would depend on whether the person behind Shantia dared to show face before Shaer and Celene who were sitting together.

Normally, she shouldn’t have, but Toril was sometimes beyond the bounds of reason.

Hill, though somewhat insensitive and even a bit slow to these matters, could still figure things out once they happened.

So, even when Shaer, without any expression, merely told Celene not to meddle or talk nonsense, and showed no sign of anger, Hill quietly turned his head and gently ate a bowl of mango ice cream.

After all, Celene’s expression was a little amusing… the Maiden of the Moon, who was both wanting to laugh and unable to suppress her surprise, had her facial muscles slightly distorted.

Celene was quite wary of her sister because she knew Shaer of the past too well… she found it hard to believe that just a romance could turn Shaer into what she was now.

In her impression… Lady Fiery Hair was still the best at matters of love, but no matter how many romances Shuni had, she remained herself.

Even the famously self-sacrificing Midnight and Kranvo didn’t change their nature for each other!

Reining in was not changing, this much the Maiden of the Moon could see clearly.

So, she nearly lay down on her long chair, tilting her head and staring fixedly at Shaer, “My sister, can’t be like this~

Did you accidentally drink the Poison Lady’s tea while out having fun?… Didn’t the old man say anything?”

“Ah!” An ear-piercing scream that tore through the sky interrupted the almost restrained Dark Night Whip forming in Shaer’s hand.

Glad not to head into the water again, Hill gratefully glanced at the grand screen… Ambori had already been provoked into riding a mass of deep green seawater straight toward the Black Rose’s big ship: A bluish-green female figure with clawed hands, elbowed fins, dead pearly fish eyes, and long dark algae hair rose directly from the island’s center. The cloak of millions of pale purple jellyfish behind her fluttered in the breeze, and she tightly gripped a trident, set to smash down on the black-robed Little Loli jumping from the mast.

It looked like an old witch chasing after a poor innocent young girl.

But for some reason, it was the first time Hill felt a twinge of sympathy for this ugly old witch.

Really… even the occasional few lines Hill heard made life seem so wonderful, why not wear earmuffs?

“What the… So soon?” The ‘Old Age Striking King’ retracted his tablet and shouted, “Remember to guard the hall well, leave no blind spots!

I’ll take a look at the Priest Corps, and I’ll be right back after Liu Liu gets here!

Edna, stay beside Elvia!”

She frowned deeply as she looked around, her chin slightly raised, “Leonard, why are you dawdling? Go to Elvia too!

If anything happens, have Josanie call me.”

She glanced at Nasir with meaningful eyes.

Nasir nodded slightly: no matter what Edna’s identity was, as long as the Undead Tribe was paying attention to her, as a Follower of the Night, he absolutely wouldn’t let anything happen to this little girl.

However, besides the Half-Elf Mage, trusted him more than this Follower of the Night?

Hadn’t Devis and Luca always performed well too?

Nasir had always been sensitive to people’s hearts, so he truly didn’t feel that these two Junior Mages had any issues.

So… what were the Undead Tribe guarding against?

Could it be someone who could cause the always friendly and sincere Quel Senta Mage to suddenly turn hostile… surely it wasn’t Azuth?

Nasir chuckled and shook his head gently.

Not to mention, Edna’s suspicion was already very low, even if Edna was a reincarnation of Mystra, that Deity of Mages wouldn’t do anything to her.

Could it be those few remaining retainers?

Or… was it that Tiger Person?

Nasir glanced again at the tiger next to Soma, who looked a lot like him… whether it was genuine accompaniment or deliberate surveillance, who knew?

But he had no more time to think, the battle outside quickly escalated.

The last time Ambori went this crazy was probably when she discovered Talos had taken over her divine power, right?
