Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1322: Chapter 1113: Tyr’s Unspoken Resentment

Edna quietly gazed at the dark gold scripture on the table that had become a divine artifact: the cover, woven from mithril and secret silver, was adorned with extremely fine multicolored patterns interwoven into the shape of snowflakes, floating atop it.

The large characters of the ”Snowfall Island Covenant” shimmered with a spectrum of luminescence.

Yet, this divine artifact book still appeared quite simple, markedly different from the sharp, luxurious, and brilliant divine artifacts popular in Toril, inevitably bringing to mind the Lady of the Dark Night.

The artifacts she crafted always suited her style: hiding lethal intent.

Edna, realizing the functionalities sealed within by several deities, thought anyone daring to seek trouble on Snowfall Island in the future would likely meet an untimely demise.

Perhaps not wanting to lose face in front of other deities, everyone seemed to have exerted a bit too much effort... After all, with neutral, evil, and kind deities involved, and all possessing strong divine power, a covenant where they simultaneously appeared is exceedingly rare.

Of course, it might also be to combat future enemies... This island might become the front line against invaders.

Edna was familiar with the practices of these Toril deities, knowing no one would contemplate whether they should move their battlefield onto another’s territory.

If the Mother Earth, Shantia, had appeared at the beginning, there might still be a future for the Moonshadow Archipelago, but she retreated before Shaer... Even with so many kind-aligned deities present, it was impossible for Shaer to kill her directly!

Yet Shantia was unwilling to endure even this.

This meant she gave up on her last piece of faithful territory.

Edna lowered her eyebrows, smiling innocently yet coldly: she would definitely not be like Midnight, rushing out to declare the unfairness, insisting that no matter the relationship, the Goddess of the Earth should be included and the mortals of Moonshadow Archipelago should not be harmed in such a way.

Then be persuaded by a few words from other deities to contribute her domain... The forces under the Kingdom of Harua and the Seven Sisters are very discontent with Midnight, isn’t it always those closest to her who suffer?

In Toril, even a god who cannot bring benefits to the believers might still have followers, for they can find their own path.

But one who constantly sacrifices followers for others’ gain... is bound to have a hard time.

Even Tyr would not offer up his believers’ homeland.

Thinking back, Edna couldn’t help but sigh: Midnight was always so incoherent... enduring Cyric back then must have been quite tough.

The rift between Kranvo and her was also quite apparent... Under Jacob’s teaching, Kranvo had grown significantly, and he began to understand the meaning of his people and was willing to protect his followers.

However, Midnight still struggled.

Due to past loneliness and solitude, Midnight was somewhat lacking in love; she liked hearing praise and enjoyed sacrificing herself... but this overwhelmed those she considered her own.

If she were still just an arcanist, it actually wouldn’t be a big deal, as teammates unable to endure would naturally leave, even if lovers parted ways, Midnight didn’t mind much.

She only used that method to comfort her somewhat incomplete soul... until her self-needs were satisfied, Midnight would naturally change.

After all, she had enough strength to sustain her little hobbies.

Her biggest mistake was being untimely.

Edna shook her head with a laugh, unable to help but beautify Midnight a bit, even knowing she was terribly wrong.

Hey, better than Shantia, right?

If it were Midnight, she would have already rushed forth to battle these people to the death, regardless of victory!

Fight first, talk later.

Hmm... an impulsive fool is better than a coward, right? Lady Midnight?

Edna turned to glance at the individuals with varied expressions in the hall, apart from the two confused Black Dragons, and even if these Chosen were a bit puzzled, looking at these deities, they must have completely understood the truth, right?

Hmm~ that was about Tampas.

As for Tyr and his Chosen knowing early is not surprising to Edna, the Temple of Justice may always be low-profile, but they’ve always remained in Agleya.

Even if they couldn’t figure it out before, after Candlekeep, they surely wouldn’t hesitate... After all, the Righteous Knights can enter the Alchemy Hall to watch replays repeatedly.

If the Lord of Justice were not so cautiously attentive, who knows what might have become of him!

Don’t be fooled, in Toril, it’s often Tom who comes out first for many matters, but in reality, Tyr directs everything from behind... especially those closely related to Toril.

Like the Wanderer’s Wall of Toril.

Only someone like Tom, who plans never to leave Toril, can enact such a thing, for it nearly requires entangling deeply with Toril’s essence to so easily imprint on souls belonging to Toril and seize them before they enter the Styx.

Moreover, most Toril deities dare only to interfere with the souls of their believers... Although Jacob often loses to AO, dealing with them was still easy for him.

Only someone willing to disregard everything for Toril, with a resolute character truly devoid of selfish motives like Tom, dared to accept such a heavy task.

Later, Kranvo would not see Tom’s actions as an insult to the Styx... If Milko were still in power, conflict might arise.

Tyr had long prepared for two outcomes... He had no problem staying in Toril as his God of Justice, as long as AO doesn’t prevent him from returning home sometimes.

After all, Tyr himself wasn’t sure whether his homeland remained or if he could return... Born in the Positive Energy Plane, the God of Justice had been dyed vibrantly by Toril’s complex nuances.

So even though he constantly missed his homeland like a madman, he was somewhat hesitating to completely leave Toril.

But if AO was displeased with his actions... then Tyr knew he was bound to have a day of misfortune.

So he placed Tom in the position of successor: a God of Loyalty who was clearly aligned with AO!

As long as AO was still rational, there was no way he would let Tom step aside for someone else.

Although Tom’s loyalty was primarily devoted to Toril, and secondarily to AO, it wasn’t as if he had no loyalty to Tyr.

This way, even if Tyr were to be utterly devastated, there would still be a sliver of hope.

Honestly, Edna didn’t feel that Hill, or that William from the Undead Tribe, was overly cautious regarding Toril... think about old Tyr! He was once such a sincere and brave warrior!

Now he’s become the current Lord of Justice, a meticulous operator to the point of utter secrecy. In recent years, people have been calling him conniving!

Tsk, who’s to blame for that?

Anyway, Edna didn’t think Tyr was wrong.

As for the Chosen, except for Tampas, who didn’t yet fully grasp the situation, the other deities might just instruct their Chosen to be kind to Edna without clearly explaining the matters.

But Tyr was different.

Thorne was not just a Chosen; he was also Tyr’s Avatar Incarnation... this could only be achieved by someone who fully entrusted themselves to the deities.

So there would be no secrets between Tyr and him.

Thorne said he was very busy now, and Edna fully understood... Tyr had to organize the loyal believers of Toril, and Thorne was his eyes and mouth left on Toril.

However, the affairs of the world are ever-changing! Fate controlled by human hands is even more unpredictable.

Edna looked up at the sky, wishing he could achieve his desires, and not end up with just a closed door despite packing his bags.

The Chosen had, due to the sudden appearance of the Weave, temporarily lost interest in continuing the fight, quickly returning to their own ships... even though they had this Holy Scripture Artifact as the center of protective magic, they still had to arrange personnel to remain here.

Especially the Righteous Knights, usually when encountering such an alliance, they were responsible for patrolling and guarding.

At most, there was no need to arrange high-level combat power here, but mid-level knights and a large number of knight apprentices were absolutely necessary.

Tampas might be able to send some forces to help, but Thorne knew clearly that being able to repair the Just Knights’ weaponry for free was their greatest contribution.

Their real combat power would definitely not be placed in front of Shaer... especially with Celene nearby.

If Tyr had not had a way to withdraw at any time, Thorne felt that his main god would not be so straightforward in letting things develop.

After all, when those two first fought on the Floating Castle, Tyr was ready to descend on him at any moment to save Hill’s life!

Compared to Hill, who had only a superficial understanding of Shaer and Celene, Tyr was really annoyed by those two Primordial Goddesses... especially Celene.

No, it wasn’t Shaer.

What’s there to say about Shaer, just prepare for battle when her followers are discovered, right?

But Celene?

If you say you remain vigilant of her, well, she’s the kind-hearted Maiden of the Moon.

But if you follow her... who knows which city might meet disaster.

Then people would still blame that the Righteous Knights were right beside and did nothing!

What the hell would they manage?~

Tyr was never most frustrated with the rampant evils of Toril... he never saw fighting evil as something to shy away from.

But Toril... sometimes kindness and evil, who is scarier, who can say?

This wretched place, what justice can be thoroughly upheld!

The biggest regret of Tyr’s life was impulsively plunging into Toril without looking... sacrificing for justice was nothing to regret, what he regretted was choosing Toril!

He would rather fight to the death in worlds struggling under the claws of demons!

Thorne, with a serious face, returned to his ship, glancing at the brown-haired girl standing by the window gazing at the sea... no wonder their Family Head was always fooled, AO was a bit too cunning, wasn’t it?

However, he now understood why an agreement for mining Mithril involved several Main Gods setting up a sealing array together.

In the end, they even turned the sealing array into an eternally existing Puzzle Lock through a newly born Divine Artifact.

It seemed that AO still didn’t want Edna’s identity to be exposed.
