So, he didn’t miss any part of the entire process.

On one hand, he was serving the guests here; on the other, experiencing things from the perspective of a guest was quite interesting.

That stone table, made from a huge slab of stone, amazed Old Zhou’s family. The stone table was under the fruit trees and was very cool.

Li Younan even drew chess and Go grids on the stone table.

Old Zhou and his brother-in-law played chess for a while, and their wives chatted under a nearby pergola.

The eldest middle schooler was curled up in a corner playing games, while two little kids ran around the small yard. After a while, they ran outside to watch the chickens in the pen.

Li Younan watched them play chess from the side.

In a place far from the city noise, spending time with these more primitive entertainment methods was, in fact, more fun.

At noon they had a barbecue, and in the afternoon, Old Zhou and his brother-in-law started fishing by the river.

Li Younan also cast a few lines.

The river looked lush green, not particularly clear. In Old Zhou’s words, ”A river that’s too clear has no fish,” and this kind of river is the one that has fish.

However, it was clear that Old Zhou was quite a novice at fishing. Despite his many theories, out of the three, only Li Younan — a fishing newcomer — managed to catch a little fish the length of a finger.

When the fish got hooked, all three laughed out loud together.

Later, Li Younan carved a little toy out of wood for each of the two children.

Old Zhou and his brother-in-law recorded it with their phones.

Unable to resist, Old Zhou asked, ”How do you do it, young man?”

”What?”

”So many things — plumbing, woodworking, and now carving. Oh, and you even do parkour!”

Li Younan blinked and chuckled, ”Just learned a bit here and there.”

Old Zhou sighed, ”Truly, one must keep learning as long as one lives.”

At this moment, Old Zhou’s brother-in-law turned his gaze toward his son, who was still engrossed in his game, then back at Li Younan, sighed deeply, and became increasingly uneasy.

He walked over as his son was still shouting, ”Use skills, use skills, idiot!”

The next moment, the phone was swiftly taken away.

”What?” the middle school son looked bewildered.

All in all, although the day lacked thrilling moments, even from Li Younan’s perspective, it wasn’t a boring day.

The only area that could be improved was the guests’ meals.

Having Grandpa and Grandma prepare meals wasn’t ideal, even though they could cook, but Li Younan didn’t want them to be too tired.

He thought maybe he could discuss it with other households in the village. This wasn’t a mountain village, and it was only a mile from the town, where there were small farm-to-table restaurants. This could be something for Ren Xiaohuan to handle later...

After sending off the first batch of guests, Li Younan wasn’t in a hurry to take in the second batch. Instead, he asked Ren Xiaohuan how the day felt and what her experience was like.

Li Younan didn’t expect Ren Xiaohuan to provide any standout answers; he just wanted to ask about how well she was adapting to the work.

Unexpectedly, Ren Xiaohuan started explaining clearly, suggesting things like providing small meals, charging extra; or adjusting their check-in and check-out times since every two days only one batch of guests could be accommodated; or being cautious about the children’s safety once they arrive...

Li Younan paused in surprise.

Ren Xiaohuan lowered her head a bit timidly, ”Did I say something wrong?”

Li Younan smiled pleasantly, ”No, I think you made some excellent points, more thorough than I imagined.”

Pausing for a moment, Li Younan seriously said, ”This little homestay... I’ll leave it to you!”
