Chapter 135: Chapter 94: Li Younan’s Carving Knife [6,500 Words]_4

Grabbed it, it’s up...

At that moment, the struggling upside-down little bird, Dou Dou squinting his eyes ready to climb the tree, and Li Younan with a confused face.

Li Younan, coming back to his senses, quickly went over and took the bird out of Dou Dou’s mouth...

Dou Dou spat out two more mouthfuls of saliva.

Li Younan was a bit speechless.

This little brat.

For Li Younan, what came next was easy.

He put the bird into his pants pocket, jumped lightly, grabbed a thick branch with one hand, then caught up with the other hand, and climbed to the nest easily with his arm strength in a few moves.

He effortlessly suspended his entire body with one hand, while the other hand slowly took the bird out of his pocket and placed it back in the nest.

For Li Younan, who had a level two rock-climbing ability, he could easily hang in the air even with just two fingers.

Dou Dou below looked up, his expression dazed.

Since then, Li Younan became Dou Dou’s idol.

He thought that big brother Li Younan was probably omnipotent, capable of woodworking, connecting electrical wires, being a mason, and even Qinggong.

Many years later, Dou Dou would probably comment online: ”All-powerful Li Younan? Ha, I knew that when I was 6 years old!”

Every day when he was free, Li Younan would make one or two toys for Dou Dou from leftover woodworking materials.

Sometimes he would just cut out a ”rifle” or a sword with a saw for simplicity.

Sometimes he would carve some delicate little gadgets, like Maitreya Buddha or Ultraman.

Making these little things was just a pastime for Li Younan and didn’t take much time.

After visiting Binhai City, Li Younan’s biggest feeling was that this country was really big.

In some places, children would have thousands of dollars worth of smart robot toys at their disposal.

While in other places, children could happily play all afternoon with just a smooth stick.

The pieces of wood Li Younan gave might accompany him throughout his childhood.

One day later, a seventeen or eighteen-year-old girl came over angrily dragging Dou Dou.

Li Younan was applying lacquer to a piece of wood, blinked, and looked at the girl with some confusion.

When the girl spoke, Li Younan realized that her aggression was not directed at him.

The girl’s eyes were a bit red, angrily slapped Dou Dou on the butt: ”Kneel!”

Dou Dou didn’t cry, just lowered his head very low, and with a sound of ”thump,” knelt down in front of Li Younan.

This scene left Li Younan stunned for a long time.

The young girl pinched Dou Dou’s ear: ”Take it out!”

Dou Dou finally cried, but still didn’t move.

The young girl got even angrier, yanking Dou Dou’s clothes and tugging hard: ”I told you to take it out!”

Dou Dou then took out a small carving knife from his hand.

Seeing this scene, Li Younan suddenly understood something.

He looked at the young girl and figured she was not Dou Dou’s mother at this age, likely an older sister or an aunt.

So, it was because Dou Dou had secretly taken this little carving knife which even Li Younan hadn’t noticed, prompting his sister’s anger to bring her brother to apologize.

Hmm, that’s probably what happened.

This wasn’t a big deal.

The young girl was a bit overly emotional, but Li Younan understood.

The young girl took the small carving knife, her head also hung low, her voice trembling: ”Sorry... my brother...”

”Likes carving?”

”My brother...”

”Is interested in this?”

”Ah... no, I meant to say sorry, my brother took... stole!” The girl stammered, speaking nervously.

”It’s not that serious.” Li Younan smiled, ”But punishing a little is fine.”

He looked at Dou Dou and said: ”Dou Dou.”

The little boy timidly lifted his head, not daring to look Li Younan in the eyes.

Li Younan said: ”Then let’s punish you by helping me move wood, okay?”

Dou Dou was momentarily bewildered.

The girl heard Li Younan’s forgiving tone, feeling relieved yet even more ashamed: ”I... I’ve already hit him.”

Li Younan nodded.

The girl continued: ”Dou Dou told me that all his toys were given by you, and he still did such a thing, I... I...”

Li Younan shook his head: ”Then it’s settled, you’ve already punished him.”

Li Younan didn’t say something like ”it’s okay for kids,” but instead expressed, ”it’s been punished, I know,” conveying that the child indeed made a mistake, but even wrongdoing can be forgiven.

The latter sentiment is that the child should understand it’s the wrong thing, but there’s the possibility of forgiveness for doing something wrong.

This was just a small disturbance, not a big issue.

When leaving, Li Younan directly gave the small carving knife to Dou Dou.

The young girl refused firmly, and Li Younan put on a stern face: ”It’s for Dou Dou.”

The young girl was startled, inexplicably feeling a hint of authority in Li Younan, ”Oh... Oh, I, I understand...”

As the young girl led Dou Dou away, the grandma beside Li Younan slowly said: ”Those siblings... are unfortunate kids... The sister didn’t even finish high school, the dad works alone outside, the mom’s health is poor, paralyzed from the waist down, always needs care, plus a little brother, sigh...”

Li Younan was slightly taken aback, his gaze turning towards those two small figures, feeling a tug on his heart.
