Chapter 107: Chapter 88: The Distance of the Eyeliner Pen

Jing Chaoyi replied to two messages on her phone and suddenly said, ”Senior, why don’t you do me a favor.”

Li Younan looked at her curiously.

Jing Chaoyi revealed a sly smile on her face and said, ”Give me a moment.” With that, she dashed into the room.

A while later, Jing Chaoyi emerged, holding a large makeup kit.

Li Younan’s expression turned a bit odd, but he didn’t speak hastily.

Jing Chaoyi sat next to Li Younan and said, ”My mom’s friend’s daughter is about my age. We both lived in the apartment complex of my dad’s workplace during kindergarten, growing up in the same courtyard. She’s competitive and likes to compare herself to me.”

Li Younan listened intently, nodding without interrupting.

Jing Chaoyi continued, ”But I didn’t want to lose to her either, always competing with her. Later, we didn’t meet after elementary school, as their family moved elsewhere. Unexpectedly, she’s about to get married.”

Li Younan nodded again, asking, ”What do you need my help with...?”

Jing Chaoyi, with a peculiar smile, slowly opened the makeup kit and said, ”I haven’t really done makeup before. Tomorrow, I want to look pretty, ideally more beautiful than the bride herself. Once I’m done with the makeup, you can give me feedback from a guy’s perspective.”

Li Younan blinked and said, ”Just this?”

Jing Chaoyi replied matter-of-factly, ”Of course just this, or do you think you should do my makeup?”

Li Younan coughed and said, ”Not that... What would a guy like me know about makeup.”

Jing Chaoyi said, ”That’s exactly it...”

It was true that Jing Chaoyi didn’t often wear makeup, so Li Younan watched with interest from the side.

Jing Chaoyi clumsily smeared makeup on her face.

One has to admit, makeup itself is an embellishment.

Although it’s undeniable that some people can significantly enhance their looks with makeup, most don’t have the best products or skills, and it merely brightens their complexion and makes them appear more lively.

And that depends on the foundation; truly, it’s all about the skin quality. People with fair, smooth, and delicate skin look good even without makeup, and a little light makeup with lipstick makes the person very charming.

Jing Chaoyi was one of those girls.

With regular exercise, her skin was smooth and delicate, not the type that tans easily. Despite a trip to Xiamen, her skin remained cool and fair.

She looked good without makeup, and with makeup, it elevated her attractiveness several levels, even with just foundation and lipstick, her appearance took on a dramatic change.

However, with Li Younan’s current makeup skills, Jing Chaoyi’s makeup looked very crude.

Whether it was the foundation or facial embellishments—actually, there were no embellishments at all—she merely crudely applied the make-up products onto her face.

As for facial contouring, shading, highlights, those advanced techniques, well...

Jing Chaoyi turned and asked, ”Senior, how is it?”

Li Younan coughed and said, ”It’s good.”

The insincerity in his tone was evident.

Jing Chaoyi frowned, looked at herself in the mirror, ”I think it looks good, what’s wrong with it?”

She stared at herself in the mirror for a long time, suddenly brightened up, ”Ah! I get it, it’s because there’s no eye makeup!”

Li Younan blinked without speaking.

Next, Jing Chaoyi started tinkering with her eyeliner while watching a few eyeliner tutorials.

Li Younan was patient, refraining from rushing her, and watched with interest.

Honestly, watching a beauty clumsily apply makeup from the perspective of an expert was quite amusing.

At this moment, Jing Chaoyi put down the eyeliner pen, a bit frustrated, ”Ah, I can’t do it.”

She suddenly looked at Li Younan beside her and said, ”Senior, why don’t you help me with it.”

Li Younan coughed, ”I can’t do it.”

Jing Chaoyi reassured, ”It’s alright. Look at this tutorial, just lightly draw at this position near my eye. I keep blinking, a bit scared.”

As she spoke, she stretched her eyelids upwards,

Uh, like a Despicable Me Minion with big round eyes...

Li Younan was stunned, contemplating, before saying, ”Well, alright.”

Jing Chaoyi leaned over, and Li Younan, holding the eyeliner pen, gently supported Jing Chaoyi’s forehead, whispering, ”Don’t blink.”

Jing Chaoyi felt a flash in front of her eyes and the task was done before she knew it.

She looked at herself in the mirror, surprised, ”Ah! It’s actually done! How did you do it, senior?”

Li Younan replied vaguely, ”Uh, just thought this would look good.”

Jing Chaoyi looked at herself in the mirror, then at the tutorial, and said admiringly, ”Senior, you did a great job!”

Li Younan chuckled twice.

Jing Chaoyi leaned over again, ”And there’s the other eye.”

Li Younan followed suit, casually helping Jing Chaoyi finish the eyeliner on her other eye.

Looking at herself in the mirror, Jing Chaoyi was stunned, ”Senior, you really have a talent for makeup!”

Li Younan put down the eyeliner pen, ”It’s alright.”

Jing Chaoyi bowed her head, ”Let me ask something, don’t hit me.”

Li Younan said, ”Then maybe don’t ask.”

Just then, Jing Chaoyi gave him a light slap.

”Ha...”

Li Younan chuckled, then seriously said, ”Go ahead and ask.”

Jing Chaoyi bowed her head, carefully considering her words, then cautiously asked, ”Why did you break up with your girlfriend?”

Li Younan fell silent for a moment.

Jing Chaoyi quickly added, ”Is she happy now... you broke up with her, right? She must be very sad, right? Uh, I’m not speaking from your girlfriend’s point of view, nor empathizing with her.”

She slowly lifted her head, ”Do you hate her for something? Why do you hate her... what?”

Li Younan hesitated, then sighed softly and gave Jing Chaoyi’s head a gentle knock, ”Okay, time to rest.”

Jing Chaoyi was a bit anxious, ”You haven’t answered me yet.”

”I don’t hate her, um, can’t really say hate, let’s drop this topic.”

After a pause, Li Younan said seriously, ”Talking badly about an ex in front of others will ruin the bright and noble image you have of me.”

Jing Chaoyi was startled, ”This reason...”

Li Younan stood up, ”Is that guest room reserved for me? I’ll make myself at home then.”

”Oh, um.”
